Okay so let me explain what their ORIGINAL PLAN was. Feb 2020 - released ON (It was gonna be their last album. The entire mots7 has tons of references to older albums. It was like a full closure moment) 2020 - year long world tour 2021 - finish world tour & announce military enlistment 2023 - finish with enlistment & come back But since covid hit all of their plans went to waste & their enlistment kept getting delayed. They were already in their burnt out phase right now. So covid + delayed plans + working on new songs / albums wasn't doing them any favor. They were exhausted PS. I just want to highlight that it was brave & commendable of them to take a break at their peak. They basically said music artistry >>> somehow pushing forward &exhausting ourselves
Also let me add the amount of articles that came out after this because they used HIATUS. They boys explicitly said that this is a break & WE WILL BE BACK but the media just wanna behave like idiots 😒😒 One Direction ruined that word for everyone. And I absolutely hate it.

I think their enlistment announcement would be AFTER their tour MAP OF THE SOUL world tour (April - September 2020) Cause Jin would turn 28 years old by that year Dec 4, 2020... But then the "BTS law" was created so they can extend it 2 more years. then Covid came, so all their 2020 plans (concert) were cancelled.

This is a very emotional Festa (especially the end). They have long proven as a group that each of them is a professional in their field. As Army I'm very glad that each member presented to the world their own album, their own style. Namjoon said that they should understand themselves, what they want. They needed this break to open up even more. And despite their solo work, BTS is always there for each other. FAMILY. The most importantly, they have each other. If you watch some member's performances, bomb, LIVE, interviews...EVERY member talked about the group during his solo project. For them, the group always comes first. It's very precious. After their solo projects, BTS also proved that each member has achieved their highest results. All 7 are popular both as a group and solo. I'm looking forward to 2025 very much...BTS will blow up everything in their path like they always did!

I was at work wanting to pour my eyes out but had to contained myself, my head was in a haze the whole day, twitter got crazy hiatus and disbandment were words thrown about, hours later Hybe came to clear the mess. When I got home I rewatched it with Eng & Spa CC trying to understand what they were really saying to us, I cried so much for them and for me.
yes... this is my second time and it's a lot this time too 😭 but looking back at it now, having seen them do their own stuff and seeming so much more at ease, makes me incredibly happy and excited for what's to come
yeah and i actually cant believe there are some armys who dont wanna watch this like its a video where the members talk about important things with so much sincerity which lets you feel their genuine emotions and stuff. i believe its a must-see video if youre an army

wow its been 2 years since this festa dinner was released. i remember myself crying for an hour straight lol, the worst part of it was that i first saw the clip of namjoon & jimin crying on twitter before i even watched the video and i panicked since i didnt know what was going on 😭
Same like my Twitter notifications were going off the rails and only one single word was flashing that was "Hiatus". I was just praying and hoping that they would stay together. And this better not be a breaking up video or something. I was scared shitless , literally cried for hours before collecting courage and watching the whole video. Also, the media literally blew this Outta proportion.
Oh my god... The immense hurt I felt when they started to cry and felt somewhat guilty for choosing to go on hiatus. i wanted to curse everyone then for making them feel that way. But I'm so glad that they announced their hiatus during the Festa dinner with ARMY first because they know how the media would twist their words and intention when articles come out. They wanted ARMY to hear it from them first because they know that ARMYs are the only ones to understand this decision and their reasons. I think i was only able to watch this once, never watched it again. Couldn't bring myself to. But looking back, wow. We've really come a long way. So hugs to everyone here. Especially to those who stayed and are waiting patiently and unwavering for our boys.
You guys are watching the updated version where they corrected the subtitles to "taking a temporary break"... the original subtitles were "We're going on a hiatus".. that's why so many Armys were in tears after this festa dinner.
They confirmed countless times that they wanted to serve in the military, then came the anthology album, they were on a break and the lyrics in Yet to Come were clearly a "goodbye for now". So technically ARMY saw it coming. I was still bawling over how raw this talk was and RM crying of course. 😢 The response of the media and other fandoms at the time was outrageous, as you could imagine. They were talking as if they broke up, when they clearly confirmed every chance they got, that they WILL come back as a GROUP. Better than ever. That was their promise and I believe them. Patiently waiting for 2025 to come 💜
Do you all remember how happy and excited we all were when they teased 8 shot glasses for the Festa dinner and we all thought that we were going to get another Festa dinner 2018 drunk sesh lol. Who knew we were gonna get punched in the gut 😭😭

It wouldn't be an understatement to say that i cried for 24 hrs straight. I wasn't worried about us. BTS & ARMY were gonna be fine. I trust them But all of this new revelations just hit so hard. Under all that cover the boys were struggling so hard and it broke my heart
This was the only reason for most of us like I felt so guilty that they were in so much pain and we couldn't even got a little bit of hint and when they revealed it to us they were still thinking about us and feeling guilty for us. I've never cried this hard for anyone. I cried 2-3 days straight couldn't even eat nearly 2 days I was just feeling so helpless like 🥺 I hope they are happy now and be happy and free in the future too and only think of themselves first then others. I just want them to be happy and nothing else 💜
One point I would like to talk about is that whether we like it or not, the boys have already told a lot about their lives through their songs, there are more than 200 songs in the group's discography and more. and that's all without the mixtapes, which tells you even more about them.. So when Yoongi talks about having nothing left to say, it's understandable. A lot has already been said and now it's time to live new stories, and thus have something to tell. or Namjoon, who perhaps didn't say what he thought personally because he was busy thinking about the group for a long time. It's hard.
So true. From trainee days through the first seven years, they had a natural framework to work with: school-themed album series, teenage themes, growing up, becoming young adults, resisting temptations of all sorts, clapping back at haters and those who would tear them down, and celebrating their triumphs (which themselves snowballed, carrying them even further along). But then, after the excellent MOTS: 7, I was thinking -- wow, what will they come up with next? What COULD they come up with next? Even I felt stumped... only to hear RM say exactly that, about not knowing where to take the group next. They'd reach a natural line in the sand - hence, the anthology album marking the start of 'chapter 2'. They've done really great the past couple years with 'chapter 2' and, of course, even continue to excel at their military duties. I hope they will have had time for thoughts to mature and deepen. Some of my favorite BTS song moments are when the rap line is storytelling (whether softly like in "Rain" and RM's mixtape song "Life", or more aggressively like in all their mixtapes; would love more of that vibe and also more ballad-y songs from vocal line, too. More focus on harmonies with the group as whole, and more vibrato from the vocalists 😝.
It's such an honor to be able to watch and listen to BTS but as much as I wish them more success and longevity in the entertainment industry, my hope and prayer is always for them to be able to live and experience life fully, individually and together. To be surrounded by their people, who truly love and support them. To be happy, healthy, safe and fulfilled. 💜
yep... my thoughts exactly... I hope when they are together again in 2025, they don't feel obligated to make a song, a show, a concert, a tour, if each one of them don't truly want it, it wouldn't be fair. They have given us so much that I hope Army respect any decision they make, even if that is being away from the industry, cause they deserve to be happy.

What made this more memorable was the situation after this dinner festa The article coming out as "BTS breaking up" that the members(jk, rm and yoongi) came on live to clarify even tho the company and (some)media outlets saying it was false. Not to mention HYBE shares falling the next hour after this dinner relase. It nearly dropped 8% which is like millions of dollors
Rm and Jimin came out with a new video on BangtanTv called "Mini Moni Music" where they listen to RM's new album and discuss it. They talk a lot about 2022 situation and how troubled RM actually was at that time. They talk a lot in retrospect what the members thought at the time. It's fascinating to see how things have evolved since then.
I was hoping that after their “break” and indigo that rm would feel better, but from mini moni it looks like he’s not. And with rpwp, seems like he’s still going through it and it breaks my heart
I think rpwp has really helped him out, otherwise I don’t think he would be able to talk about so eloquently. There is a video on You Tube that explains a lot of the Mini Moni video. It’s a good watch. I can’t remember who put it out…but I know what comes up is Soul Asylum something……she is an entertainment writer and her channel is a BTS channel for the most part.
I'm so jealous of you guys watching this now when you know everything is okay and its not that big of a deal. When this came out the fandom was in chaos, I remember my stomach churning. Hybe had to release a statement at 4:00am South Korean time, we were all in chaos! I was convinced this was the end of BTS
Did you really think it was the end? Because I think most fans knew this was coming because they needed to complete their military service. Plus we knew their intentions was to enlist after the world tour in 2020 but that never happened due to the pandemic. I never once thought it was them announcing a break up or that they would wait and see what would happen after spending time apart. Even though that's how the media was portraying it.

Mindless Behavior, One Dire tion, Fifth Harmony, Little mix, literally every group I knew that went on "hiatus to to do solo activity" never returned, lol I was in shambles. And they also never mentioned their intent to go serve and return, so. I just thought "yeah they'll go do their own thing, do the military at their own time"
I was so attached to BTS and was baby ARMY when I began watching this live, so their words took me by utter shock! Then, the tears came. Some in my family thought I had lost it! This was the first time in my 86 years that I cried so much over a favorite artist(s). I replayed it again, and cried some more, but began to understand what they were saying and felt sorry for them for what they had been going through. I was so happy when each of their solo albums and songs were released. They were all wonderful. I pray that they come back healthy mentally and physically and find inspiration and happiness in their Chapter 2. They deserve it.
I’m 64….cried a lot too. My hubby was worried. I hope they are given time to decompress from the military. 5 will be out almost at the same time I. jun2025. They can’t just go back into performing. Listening to RPWP and watching this after two years made me realize so many things. This chapter 2 made me see the colors they have as an individual and I know finally understand everything.

It's been two years and this video still makes me so emotional. They way both bts and army were both excited yet nervous for what the future would hold. Its a video that's hard to watch but I'm always thankful they trusted us enough to open up and lay everything out

Opening up like this in front of cameras isn’t easy, and the fact that they cared enough to put themselves in such a vulnerable position for ARMY says a lot. They could have just moved on with their plans without explaining themselves, but that’s not the BTS-ARMY relationship. I still remember Namjoon’s letter and the unfair treatment they endured from the media, especially using clips of Joon crying. I watched this when I was on a train with my daughter commuting early in the morning (on my side of the world), which is night time for most people. I was bawling my eyes out that I looked like a panda with my make up smearingmy face. If you listen to RM's Come Back to Me and LOST, you'll understand what he was going through. The Minimoni conversation makes it clearer. I hope you watch that too. BTS is that kind of authentic artist that pours out their heart & soul in their music, and, unlike other artists, they have remained the same grounded people. If one actually listens to their music and to what they say and do, it's obvious that they love each other and value their journey with Army.
Festa 2022 was so traumatizing for us ugh i can remember vividly all of us were bawling our eyes out as we were watching this 🙃 the whole twitter was a disaster lmao. I had no guts to rewatch it until now tbh..

The military service is their break, though not as free as civilians but they're free from the idol industry and the idol expectations. I'm happy for them and just waiting for them to mature in their own pace and live their lives just like us.

you have to remember that there was ALSO so much going on around in the media, comments from government officials etc regarding their military enlistment (for years, but especially leading up to this break). this was a time for them to separate and grow, but there were also very real and complex opinions and emotions regarding the enlistment and how much other people were trying to control their narrative. this was them coming out and letting us know that it was time for a break. to any army who was paying attention, this break did not come out of left field. but anticipating something and knowing the time had come was still gut wrenching. their raw emotions and honesty throughout this broke my heart, but made me respect them even more.
Now watching this again with y'all I realize how much they hinted at future activities, like Yoongi going to the university festival as PSY's guest, and other solo projects they were already working towards. Amazing! Also brings memories to when this first got released. The ARMY support groups that popped up on Twitter...it was helpful processing together. As humans, change is hard. But I love watching this now, knowing how much musical exploration our boys got to do.
I'm so excited that Jin will be here for this year's festa I've no doubt that members prepared something for army before going, but I'll still miss them this year I'm sure Jin will miss his brothers too
21:00 yeah theyived together all rhis time but in different houses obviously. They had one room in the beginning, but their last joint house was in most expensive area
We were so distraught after this dinner, had no idea what to expect and they did NOT mention anything about the military until the day after the October Busan concert. In retrospect, Suga was taking all those lessons to get ready for his album and tour, others were working on albums. We had no idea how busy they would keep us during Chapter 2 before they all enlisted with all the solo projects, Run BTS, Suchwita episodes, Suga’s tour, etc. and now even after enlisting they left so much material with more to come. A second Jimin album seems eminent, there are so many clues/spoilers about it already. We just don’t know when. 💜
Rewatching this almost two years later still makes me nauseous and teary eyed. 😫 To add some more context, during the promo period before Proof and during Festa we assumed we would get more album promo and some of us thought possibly even a tour (there was a "???" on the Proof promo schedule and we were just really convinced there would be a world tour ok)! But when YTC was released some people were already guessing they were trying to tell us something more. These people were right! This Festa Dinner personally hit me HARD, as soon as Namjoon started crying I broke down. I was so sad about how worried they were about what the fans would think, but I also felt guilty, like we had contributed to burdening them too with our expectations. Looking back now, Ch2 allowed each member to make the music they wanted and explore new opportunities, but in the moment in June 2022 scary and was worried about what would come next!

I was a brand new ARMY when I saw this on its first airing...I cried like a baby thinking that I had joined the train too late....little did I know that they would put out SO much content after this.
When they said “RUN BTS” it is the song not the show :) and at that time I remembered vividly despite bts saying it numerous they are not breaking up the media twist their words and especially in the west saying they were breaking up on BBC billboard news, CCN news etc and RM even had to go on weverse kind of mad and frustrated they keep saying they were done they were breaking up when they were not
I remember when every media page posted about this festa as their disb@ndmnt and JK came live to tell us its just a chap 2 they are gonna start and they will be together again as BTS and they are not meant to be separated. And that live for me was like a life savior at that time because i was crying so bad idk why but i thought it might be done 😭😭
Everytime i watch this.. i still cry like the first time i’ve seen it.. i love these men to bits and hearing them sad and frustrated in their art like this, it pains me.. i was sad to hear them take a break.. but after all their albums and individual works released… i thank the heavens that they decided on this. They deserve this. We love them as a group but i love them more now individually. I cant wait how great their music will be once they comeback because of how great they’ve matured as individuals
The way that they're confortable enough with us for sharing all their feelings and emotions, i think it's one of my favorite things about them 💜 i miss them so much and i cannot wait for the day they will be together again🫂
The discography they built in just 8-9 years is almost equal to what artists release in their whole lifetime. That in itself tells a lot about how they ran and ran and just kept running. During this time, they were being questioned and dragged into random debates about the military and Jin was getting hate along with other members. Other agencies also tried taking advantage of the boys and then the boys were again dragged. The amount of pressure they went through is unreal. The way they were never really supported, questioned and at the same time contributing to the country and even being asked to represent the whole industry and even the country. They don't mention any of that but they went through it all without having been able to defend themselves. Even the recent incident, the whole setup by NHJ to drag HYBE also the plan to drag BTS. Everything is just so unimaginable. It is absolutely heartbreaking. When this video came out, that very day all media companies started releasing the picture of RM crying with headlines saying BTS was disbanding. The HYBE stocks also plummeted. They knew very well how this would be used against them. They knew the danger but still chose to release it and let it air. They did that because they wanted to be personal and honest with us, the ARMYs. And like every other time, it was used. I remember we were all sooo scared at the time. Things were so bad, that news was being put out in numerous ways. This can never not get me emotional.
(edit: this was not something any of us expected, we thought it was going to be like their other festa dinners) oh it was SO shocking as an army since 2016 (i was 14 then lol); it wasn't that they had never expressed some of these feelings before but it was really raw, you could see how much this had been on their mind. i started crying when namjoon did :( i'm so glad to see how much they've grown as individuals and artistically on their own since i'm sure it will be their strength when they're back together

I'm really glad you decided to react to this video! Honestly, it's my first time watching it all the way through. Previously, I'd only caught bits and pieces because I'd already read about what was discussed through army translators and blogs. Those snippets were overwhelming, even for me as a fan, let alone for BTS and old army's. But today, watching it with you guys, and with so much time having passed, I'm able to view it from a fresh perspective. I'm even prouder of the individual directions each of them has taken with their artistry. They truly represent seven different colors. Some newcomers who are discovering them through their solo work might find it hard to believe that these seven artists worked together as a team for so many years, and still do. But I'm extremely proud of them; they're some of the most genuine artists this generation has witnessed. It's also incredibly courageous of them to take a hiatus when they were at the peak of their careers. In an industry driven by capitalism, where most artists strive to capitalize on their popularity as much as possible to remain relevant, even tailoring their music to fit algorithms, BTS chose to stay true to themselves. They prioritized their growth and protected their artistry. While I may not like their label, which seems very corporate and profit-driven, BTS members consistently prioritize their art above all else.
A lot of us also were anticipating a world tour announcement during festa. Me personally, I thought the members would be so fired up and ready to tour again now that concerts were allowed again. So hearing how exhausted they were and how much they were yearning for space and individual time…it broke me, the selfish “fan” part of me. I cried as soon as they said they were selling their condo. I watched this so many times until I could finally understand their emotions as well as possible. They are incredibly honest and truly care about themselves, each other and their art. At the end of the day army just wants them to be happy, whatever that looks like for them. We’re so grateful for everything they’ve given us up to this point and will be here with open arms anytime they want to open up to us with music, concert, or whatever comes next 🥹
I think a lot of us were waiting for it, because we knew enlistment HAD to come. I imagine it felt like you have a toothache and know you need it pulled, but the appointment keeps getting pushed back. Like some of us wanted to delay that appointment for as long as possible, but some of us just wanted that tooth pulled so we could get it over with and start to be well again. I fell into the pull that tooth asap category for sure. I could feel a break coming and I was thankful they were so open about their wants and needs, and not solely focused on ARMY. And I appreciated that they didn't frame the military service AS the break, but they took their break first, for as long as they needed, and then when they were ready they started their service. I know it's been really hard for a lot of fans. When I went to see the live concert in the cinema I had a Jin bias right next to me and she burst into tears when he spoke at the end of the concert because he was sort of saying bye for before starting his service. When this went live first I wasn't watching as I always wait for subs, and all over my social media were just people in the depths of despair, meanwhile I'm like yeah makes sense, they needed that. 🙈🙈 And then I just got several non kpop friends messaging me consoling me because the news were saying "BTS DISBANDMENT" 🙄😂
As soon as it took a serious turn, I knew what was coming, and Jin was so close to enlisting. Many ARMY's were hoping the gov. would excuse them, however They had all said many times they would serve, because that what men in Korea did. Jin was going in just after this, BUT the gov. stepped in and asked ( using term loosely) them to do the concert in Busan. delayed Jin for the second time. Then big 3 media took RM.'s words and twisted them, and ran with it, scaring younger army.

It's been two years already.. I know that many people couldn't watch it again.. but for me, I watched it several times already.. I don't know why.. it was really painful and I cried every time.. I wanted to absorb their thoughts and fears.. I wanted to focus on every one of them.. At some point, I also wanted to reassure myself with their words.. that they will always be here.. Watching them after all this time and after actually seeing what happens after this dinner makes me feel strange.. because it is still scary and still worries me.. I really missed them. I don't remember ever feeling this close to any famous person before. I feel like they are my close friends and I want them to be well and to be by my side as well.
It will be my first time to rewatch Festa 2022 after it came out and everyone got traumatized. All ARMYs were excited for Festa, and we had no idea what kind of a turn that dinner would take. By this time when you guys stopped the video, I was already crying. The excitement had turned into dread as the conversation turned more and more serious. After this video, and their real plans and timelines came out, Black Swan hit differently and became such an emotional song for me. Only the thought of Jin returning soon is what's giving me enough courage to watch this again. 😢
i haven't re watched this festa ever since its release because i can still recall the roller-coaster emotion i felt watching it and im kind of not ready to feel that again, but u posting this might be a sign to finally watch it again haha
I remember waking up the morning of this Festa video release, and the Internet was EXPLODING with wild spectulation that the group was really disbanding because of one word Namjoon said during this Festa (or was interpreted as): "Hiatus". When any other former band has announced that they were going on a "hiatus", that word was alway a code word for "disbanding", so, International Armies were literally going ape-sh*t crazy thinking that they were actually disbanding, and all chaos broke loose. Hybe investors also believed the same as International Armies, and pulled their money out of Hybe, and after the release of this video, the next day, Hybe stock prices plummeted which made Hybe employees question whether they should start looking for jobs with other companies. Armies were confused, Social Media was going crazy with speculation, Hybe's valuation and worth as a company was plummeting, BTS and Hybe were confused as to what was happening or why (since they didn't understand the hidden meaning of "hiatus"), and Hybe employees were contemplating looking for jobs elsewhere, all because Namjoon said that the group was going on a "hiatus". Namjoon had to release a follow-up statement letter that he wrote himself onto their Weverse App after the release of this Festa video reassuring Army, Hybe Investors, and Hybe Employees, that BTS was IN FACT, NOT disbanding. That letter calmed everybody down, and things slowly went back to normal.
I remember after seeing the MV The Best it yet to come, and them doing their recorded live in the desert in Las Vegas, I had both a good happy feeling and a sad foreboding feeling. The timeline of them adding shows and their ages, I didn’t know if they were all heading to the military all at once or what was going on! I can’t believe they even pre-recorded Take Two for the 2024 Festa! True artists is all i will say they are so real for this having living this life for more than 10 years now and it would be fair to say that they almost don't have a life of their own with all the exhausting schedules and as rm says the weight of the crown that comes with the name "BTS" so it has to be hard for the members. There's so much scrutiny in the industry and people indulge into so many things but tannies didn't go on any proper breaks it is still crazy for me that they took their first one month break in 2019 before shooting bon voyage S4 like bro that many years to take a month off it has to be crazy for them but them still being guilty to be exhausted just breaks my heart and with them not having any proper breaks and as they said the time to grow i respect them for their honesty and sincerity and above all their true artistry. Like armys have seen them sleeping literally anywhere between schedules it cannot be easy and all the success can be overwhelming when they just had a message for the world and love for their music so we get it and back then they couldn't even talk about the enlistment because it was such a sensitive issue with everything sk makes of their lives like the news articles and everything it was so hard for them to not talk about it because they are BTS and since and because of the impact their words have they cannot always be too open and honest about their plans and they have the burden to have to represent the whole country everything they say becomes headlines and because they know how it'll all unfold on them. Despite that people still be talking stuff it was really hard for jin the whole time as the eldest and he had to enlist first even if they had the option to be exempted because of their cultural merit and sk trying to use BTS but that's a whole different story altogether but yes it was hard for armys then like we were just sitting ready with our outfits and food and drinks opening up the festa like other festa trying to enjoy it and it was well an emotional rollercoaster 💀 At that time news headlines calling it a disbandment and everything when it was a hiatus and we could see them hangout all the time it was a hard time honestly can't wait for them to come back in 2025 and be free from everything
I remember i was to take a flight alone to a country I haven't been before in the middle of depression and anxiety for personal issues, the video had like few hours of being released and I thought better to watch it when I arrived to see it in calm, but then I got in the plane and twitter was chaos, tears, people afraid, sad until I saw "hiatus" and the tears started to fall from my face, I closed all the apps and started to cry. Days after I sat down and watched it, it hurt...but not because they were announcing they wanted a "me time", it hurt because they had all those feelings for so many time and still worrying about us?! like I was mad for those people who put so much pressure to them like ..they are human too! I was repeating to the screen "please don't feel guilty please don't do feel bad for us, we are going to be here always whatever your decision is"....on the other hand, I was so so so so grateful to them, the honestly they had to us, how they showed to us vulnerable, I confirmed - one more time- that I am in this Bangtan life forever💜 They could easily have gone to ms during covid, but they thought of us "It's too much for army, covid and now if we go...." ufff, the love they have for us...only Army could understand how loved we feel by them, and how much we want to protect them and wish them only happiness in the way they want....omg I'm so emotional, hehe thanks so much for reacting to this, can't wait for part2.

It's so interesting to watch this again now, with the release of RPWP.... I'm so glad that Namjoon has been able to say the messages he wants and writes the music that he wants. All of them have been amazing in Chapter 2 and I'm just so proud of them.

Okay so let me explain what their ORIGINAL PLAN was.
Feb 2020 - released ON (It was gonna be their last album. The entire mots7 has tons of references to older albums. It was like a full closure moment)
2020 - year long world tour
2021 - finish world tour & announce military enlistment
2023 - finish with enlistment & come back
But since covid hit all of their plans went to waste & their enlistment kept getting delayed.
They were already in their burnt out phase right now.
So covid + delayed plans + working on new songs / albums wasn't doing them any favor. They were exhausted
PS. I just want to highlight that it was brave & commendable of them to take a break at their peak. They basically said music artistry >>> somehow pushing forward &exhausting ourselves

I think their enlistment announcement would be AFTER their tour MAP OF THE SOUL world tour (April - September 2020) Cause Jin would turn 28 years old by that year Dec 4, 2020... But then the "BTS law" was created so they can extend it 2 more years.
then Covid came, so all their 2020 plans (concert) were cancelled.

This is a very emotional Festa (especially the end). They have long proven as a group that each of them is a professional in their field. As Army I'm very glad that each member presented to the world their own album, their own style. Namjoon said that they should understand themselves, what they want. They needed this break to open up even more. And despite their solo work, BTS is always there for each other. FAMILY. The most importantly, they have each other.
If you watch some member's performances, bomb, LIVE, interviews...EVERY member talked about the group during his solo project. For them, the group always comes first. It's very precious. After their solo projects, BTS also proved that each member has achieved their highest results. All 7 are popular both as a group and solo. I'm looking forward to 2025 very much...BTS will blow up everything in their path like they always did!

But I'm so glad that they announced their hiatus during the Festa dinner with ARMY first because they know how the media would twist their words and intention when articles come out. They wanted ARMY to hear it from them first because they know that ARMYs are the only ones to understand this decision and their reasons. I think i was only able to watch this once, never watched it again. Couldn't bring myself to. But looking back, wow. We've really come a long way. So hugs to everyone here. The thing is it was the media that was spinning the word hiatus as a disbandment announcement. I think most of us ARMY knew it wasn't a break up.

The response of the media and other fandoms at the time was outrageous, as you could imagine. They were talking as if they broke up, when they clearly confirmed every chance they got, that they WILL come back as a GROUP. Better than ever. That was their promise and I believe them. I hope they are happy now and be happy and free in the future too and only think of themselves first then others. I just want them to be happy and nothing else 💜
One point I would like to talk about is that whether we like it or not, the boys have already told a lot about their lives through their songs, there are more than 200 songs in the group's discography and more. and that's all without the mixtapes, which tells you even more about them.. So when Yoongi talks about having nothing left to say, it's understandable. A lot has already been said and now it's time to live new stories, and thus have something to tell. or Namjoon, who perhaps didn't say what he thought personally because he was busy thinking about the group for a long time. It's hard.
So true. From trainee days through the first seven years, they had a natural framework to work with: school-themed album series, teenage themes, growing up, becoming young adults, resisting temptations of all sorts, clapping back at haters and those who would tear them down, and celebrating their triumphs (which themselves snowballed, carrying them even further along). But then, after the excellent MOTS: 7, I was thinking -- wow, what will they come up with next? What COULD they come up with next? Even I felt stumped... only to hear RM say exactly that, about not knowing where to take the group next. They'd reach a natural line in the sand - hence, the anthology album marking the start of 'chapter 2'. They've done really great the past couple years with 'chapter 2' and, of course, even continue to excel at their military duties. I hope they will have had time for thoughts to mature and deepen. Some of my favorite BTS song moments are when the rap line is storytelling (whether softly like in "Rain" and RM's mixtape song "Life", or more aggressively like in all their mixtapes; would love more of that vibe and also more ballad-y songs from vocal line, too. More focus on harmonies with the group as whole, and more vibrato from the vocalists 😝.
It's such an honor to be able to watch and listen to BTS but as much as I wish them more success and longevity in the entertainment industry, my hope and prayer is always for them to be able to live and experience life fully, individually and together. To be surrounded by their people, who truly love and support them. To be happy, healthy, safe and fulfilled. 💜

Rm and Jimin came out with a new video on BangtanTv called "Mini Moni Music" where they listen to RM's new album and discuss it. They talk a lot about 2022 situation and how troubled RM actually was at that time. They talk a lot in retrospect what the members thought at the time. It's fascinating to see how things have evolved since then.
I was hoping that after their “break” and indigo that rm would feel better, but from mini moni it looks like he’s not. And with rpwp, seems like he’s still going through it and it breaks my heart
I think rpwp has really helped him out, otherwise I don’t think he would be able to talk about so eloquently. There is a video on You Tube that explains a lot of the Mini Moni video. It’s a good watch. I can’t remember who put it out…but I know what comes up is Soul Asylum something……she is an entertainment writer and her channel is a BTS channel for the most part.
I'm so jealous of you guys watching this now when you know everything is okay and its not that big of a deal. When this came out the fandom was in chaos, I remember my stomach churning. Hybe had to release a statement at 4:00am South Korean time, we were all in chaos! I was convinced this was the end of BTS
Did you really think it was the end? Because I think most fans knew this was coming because they needed to complete their military service. Plus we knew their intentions was to enlist after the world tour in 2020 but that never happened due to the pandemic. I never once thought it was them announcing a break up or that they would wait and see what would happen after spending time apart. Even though that's how the media was portraying it.

I was so attached to BTS and was baby ARMY when I began watching this live, so their words took me by utter shock! Then, the tears came. Some in my family thought I had lost it! This was the first time in my 86 years that I cried so much over a favorite artist(s). I replayed it again, and cried some more, but began to understand what they were saying and felt sorry for them for what they had been going through.
I was so happy when each of their solo albums and songs were released. They were all wonderful. I pray that they come back healthy mentally and physically and find inspiration and happiness in their Chapter 2. They deserve it.

I watched this when I was on a train with my daughter commuting early in the morning (on my side of the world), which is night time for most people. I was bawling my eyes out that I looked like a panda with my make up smearingmy face. If you listen to RM's Come Back to Me and LOST, you'll understand what he was going through. The Minimoni conversation makes it clearer. I hope you watch that too. BTS is that kind of authentic artist that pours out their heart & soul in their music, and, unlike other artists, they have remained the same grounded people. If one actually listens to their music and to what they say and do, it's obvious that they love each other and value their journey with Army.
Festa 2022 was so traumatizing for us ugh i can remember vividly all of us were bawling our eyes out as we were watching this 🙃 the whole twitter was a disaster lmao. I had no guts to rewatch it until now tbh..

you have to remember that there was ALSO so much going on around in the media, comments from government officials etc regarding their military enlistment (for years, but especially leading up to this break). this was a time for them to separate and grow, but there were also very real and complex opinions and emotions regarding the enlistment and how much other people were trying to control their narrative. this was them coming out and letting us know that it was time for a break. to any army who was paying attention, this break did not come out of left field. but anticipating something and knowing the time had come was still gut wrenching. their raw emotions and honesty throughout this broke my heart, but made me respect them even more.
Now watching this again with y'all I realize how much they hinted at future activities, like Yoongi going to the university festival as PSY's guest, and other solo projects they were already working towards. Amazing! Also brings memories to when this first got released. The ARMY support groups that popped up on Twitter...it was helpful processing together. As humans, change is hard. But I love watching this now, knowing how much musical exploration our boys got to do.
I'm so excited that Jin will be here for this year's festa I've no doubt that members prepared something for army before going, but I'll still miss them this year I'm sure Jin will miss his brothers too

We were so distraught after this dinner, had no idea what to expect and they did NOT mention anything about the military until the day after the October Busan concert. In retrospect, Suga was taking all those lessons to get ready for his album and tour, others were working on albums. We had no idea how busy they would keep us during Chapter 2 before they all enlisted with all the solo projects, Run BTS, Suchwita episodes, Suga’s tour, etc. and now even after enlisting they left so much material with more to come. A second Jimin album seems eminent, there are so many clues/spoilers about it already. We just don’t know when. 💜
Rewatching this almost two years later still makes me nauseous and teary eyed. 😫 To add some more context, during the promo period before Proof and during Festa we assumed we would get more album promo and some of us thought possibly even a tour (there was a "???" on the Proof promo schedule and we were just really convinced there would be a world tour ok)! But when YTC was released some people were already guessing they were trying to tell us something more. These people were right! This Festa Dinner personally hit me HARD, as soon as Namjoon started crying I broke down. I was so sad about how worried they were about what the fans would think, but I also felt guilty, like we had contributed to burdening them too with our expectations. Looking back now, Ch2 allowed each member to make the music they wanted and explore new opportunities, but in the moment in June 2022 scary and was worried about what would come next!

I was a brand new ARMY when I saw this on its first airing...I cried like a baby thinking that I had joined the train too late....little did I know that they would put out SO much content after this.

When they said “RUN BTS” it is the song not the show :) and at that time I remembered vividly despite bts saying it numerous they are not breaking up the media twist their words and especially in the west saying they were breaking up on BBC billboard news, CCN news etc and RM even had to go on weverse kind of mad and frustrated they keep saying they were done they were breaking up when they were not
I remember when every media page posted about this festa as their disb@ndmnt and JK came live to tell us its just a chap 2 they are gonna start and they will be together again as BTS and they are not meant to be separated. And that live for me was like a life savior at that time because i was crying so bad idk why but i thought it might be done 😭😭

Everytime i watch this.. i still cry like the first time i’ve seen it.. i love these men to bits and hearing them sad and frustrated in their art like this, it pains me.. i was sad to hear them take a break.. but after all their albums and individual works released… i thank the heavens that they decided on this. They deserve this. We love them as a group but i love them more now individually. I cant wait how great their music will be once they comeback because of how great they’ve matured as individuals
The way that they're confortable enough with us for sharing all their feelings and emotions, i think it's one of my favorite things about them 💜 i miss them so much and i cannot wait for the day they will be together again🫂

The night when this happened, the fandom cried so much
The discography they built in just 8-9 years is almost equal to what artists release in their whole lifetime. That in itself tells a lot about how they ran and ran and just kept running. During this time, they were being questioned and dragged into random debates about the military and Jin was getting hate along with other members. Other agencies also tried taking advantage of the boys and then the boys were again dragged. The amount of pressure they went through is unreal. The way they were never really supported, questioned and at the same time contributing to the country and even being asked to represent the whole industry and even the country. They don't mention any of that but they went through it all without having been able to defend themselves. Even the recent incident, the whole setup by NHJ to drag HYBE also the plan to drag BTS. Everything is just so unimaginable.
It is absolutely heartbreaking. When this video came out, that very day all media companies started releasing the picture of RM crying with headlines saying BTS was disbanding. The HYBE stocks also plummeted. They knew very well how this would be used against them. They knew the danger but still chose to release it and let it air. They did that because they wanted to be personal and honest with us, the ARMYs. And like every other time, it was used.
I remember we were all sooo scared at the time. Things were so bad, that news was being put out in numerous ways. This can never not get me emotional.
They've come so far and did so much since this Festa moment🥺🥺🥺💜I'm so proud of each one of them!
(edit: this was not something any of us expected, we thought it was going to be like their other festa dinners) oh it was SO shocking as an army since 2016 (i was 14 then lol); it wasn't that they had never expressed some of these feelings before but it was really raw, you could see how much this had been on their mind. i started crying when namjoon did :( i'm so glad to see how much they've grown as individuals and artistically on their own since i'm sure it will be their strength when they're back together
My heart hurt when I watched it but I was so proud of them for starting this next chapter of their life.

I'm really glad you decided to react to this video! Honestly, it's my first time watching it all the way through. Previously, I'd only caught bits and pieces because I'd already read about what was discussed through army translators and blogs. Those snippets were overwhelming, even for me as a fan, let alone for BTS and old army's. But today, watching it with you guys, and with so much time having passed, I'm able to view it from a fresh perspective. I'm even prouder of the individual directions each of them has taken with their artistry. They truly represent seven different colors. Some newcomers who are discovering them through their solo work might find it hard to believe that these seven artists worked together as a team for so many years, and still do. But I'm extremely proud of them; they're some of the most genuine artists this generation has witnessed.
It's also incredibly courageous of them to take a hiatus when they were at the peak of their careers. In an industry driven by capitalism, where most artists strive to capitalize on their popularity as much as possible to remain relevant, even tailoring their music to fit algorithms, BTS chose to stay true to themselves. They prioritized their growth and protected their artistry. While I may not like their label, which seems very corporate and profit-driven, BTS members consistently prioritize their art above all else.
I promised myself to never watch festa 2022 again but here I am, the trauma was real I’ve never cried in my life more than I did that day.

A lot of us also were anticipating a world tour announcement during festa. Me personally, I thought the members would be so fired up and ready to tour again now that concerts were allowed again. So hearing how exhausted they were and how much they were yearning for space and individual time…it broke me, the selfish “fan” part of me. I cried as soon as they said they were selling their condo. I watched this so many times until I could finally understand their emotions as well as possible. They are incredibly honest and truly care about themselves, each other and their art. At the end of the day army just wants them to be happy, whatever that looks like for them. We’re so grateful for everything they’ve given us up to this point and will be here with open arms anytime they want to open up to us with music, concert, or whatever comes next 🥹
I think a lot of us were waiting for it, because we knew enlistment HAD to come. I imagine it felt like you have a toothache and know you need it pulled, but the appointment keeps getting pushed back. Like some of us wanted to delay that appointment for as long as possible, but some of us just wanted that tooth pulled so we could get it over with and start to be well again. I fell into the pull that tooth asap category for sure. I could feel a break coming and I was thankful they were so open about their wants and needs, and not solely focused on ARMY. And I appreciated that they didn't frame the military service AS the break, but they took their break first, for as long as they needed, and then when they were ready they started their service. I know it's been really hard for a lot of fans. When I went to see the live concert in the cinema I had a Jin bias right next to me and she burst into tears when he spoke at the end of the concert because he was sort of saying bye for before starting his service.
When this went live first I wasn't watching as I always wait for subs, and all over my social media were just people in the depths of despair, meanwhile I'm like yeah makes sense, they needed that. 🙈🙈 And then I just got several non kpop friends messaging me consoling me because the news were saying "BTS DISBANDMENT" 🙄😂
I remember my mum begging me to stop crying because my tears could stop coming.. ....my first time crying that hard.....I felt it ...
As soon as it took a serious turn, I knew what was coming, and Jin was so close to enlisting. Many ARMY's were hoping the gov. would excuse them, however They had all said many times they would serve, because that what men in Korea did. Jin was going in just after this, BUT the gov. stepped in and asked ( using term loosely) them to do the concert in Busan. delayed Jin for the second time. Then big 3 media took RM.'s words and twisted them, and ran with it, scaring younger army.

I cried for Namjoon that day and as Army, I let him go. It's more important that he is mentally healthy than being our idol.
It's been two years already.. I know that many people couldn't watch it again.. but for me, I watched it several times already.. I don't know why.. it was really painful and I cried every time.. I wanted to absorb their thoughts and fears.. I wanted to focus on every one of them.. At some point, I also wanted to reassure myself with their words.. that they will always be here.. Watching them after all this time and after actually seeing what happens after this dinner makes me feel strange.. because it is still scary and still worries me.. I really missed them. I don't remember ever feeling this close to any famous person before. I feel like they are my close friends and I want them to be well and to be by my side as well.
It will be my first time to rewatch Festa 2022 after it came out and everyone got traumatized. All ARMYs were excited for Festa, and we had no idea what kind of a turn that dinner would take. By this time when you guys stopped the video, I was already crying. The excitement had turned into dread as the conversation turned more and more serious. After this video, and their real plans and timelines came out, Black Swan hit differently and became such an emotional song for me.
Only the thought of Jin returning soon is what's giving me enough courage to watch this again. 😢

I remember waking up the morning of this Festa video release, and the Internet was EXPLODING with wild spectulation that the group was really disbanding because of one word Namjoon said during this Festa (or was interpreted as): "Hiatus".
When any other former band has announced that they were going on a "hiatus", that word was alway a code word for "disbanding", so, International Armies were literally going ape-sh*t crazy thinking that they were actually disbanding, and all chaos broke loose.
Hybe investors also believed the same as International Armies, and pulled their money out of Hybe, and after the release of this video, the next day, Hybe stock prices plummeted which made Hybe employees question whether they should start looking for jobs with other companies.
Armies were confused, Social Media was going crazy with speculation, Hybe's valuation and worth as a company was plummeting, BTS and Hybe were confused as to what was happening or why (since they didn't understand the hidden meaning of "hiatus"), and Hybe employees were contemplating looking for jobs elsewhere, all because Namjoon said that the group was going on a "hiatus".
Namjoon had to release a follow-up statement letter that he wrote himself onto their Weverse App after the release of this Festa video reassuring Army, Hybe Investors, and Hybe Employees, that BTS was IN FACT, NOT disbanding. That letter calmed everybody down, and things slowly went back to normal.
I remember after seeing the MV The Best it yet to come, and them doing their recorded live in the desert in Las Vegas, I had both a good happy feeling and a sad foreboding feeling. The timeline of them adding shows and their ages, I didn’t know if they were all heading to the military all at once or what was going on! I can’t believe they even pre-recorded Take Two for the 2024 Festa! They deserve time off to find themselves and I can’t wait for them as all soloists of BTS coming together when that time arrives! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🇨🇦🥰🙏

True artists is all i will say they are so real for this having living this life for more than 10 years now and it would be fair to say that they almost don't have a life of their own with all the exhausting schedules and as rm says the weight of the crown that comes with the name "BTS" so it has to be hard for the members. There's so much scrutiny in the industry and people indulge into so many things but tannies didn't go on any proper breaks it is still crazy for me that they took their first one month break in 2019 before shooting bon voyage S4 like bro that many years to take a month off it has to be crazy for them but them still being guilty to be exhausted just breaks my heart and with them not having any proper breaks and as they said the time to grow i respect them for their honesty and sincerity and above all their true artistry. Like armys have seen them sleeping literally anywhere between schedules it cannot be easy and all the success can be overwhelming when they just had a message for the world and love for their music so we get it and back then they couldn't even talk about the enlistment because it was such a sensitive issue with everything sk makes of their lives like the news articles and everything it was so hard for them to not talk about it because they are BTS and since and because of the impact their words have they cannot always be too open and honest about their plans and they have the burden to have to represent the whole country everything they say becomes headlines and because they know how it'll all unfold on them. Despite that people still be talking stuff it was really hard for jin the whole time as the eldest and he had to enlist first even if they had the option to be exempted because of their cultural merit and sk trying to use BTS but that's a whole different story altogether but yes it was hard for armys then like we were just sitting ready with our outfits and food and drinks opening up the festa like other festa trying to enjoy it and it was well an emotional rollercoaster 💀 At that time news headlines calling it a disbandment and everything when it was a hiatus and we could see them hangout all the time it was a hard time honestly can't wait for them to come back in 2025 and be free from everything
I remember i was to take a flight alone to a country I haven't been before in the middle of depression and anxiety for personal issues, the video had like few hours of being released and I thought better to watch it when I arrived to see it in calm, but then I got in the plane and twitter was chaos, tears, people afraid, sad until I saw "hiatus" and the tears started to fall from my face, I closed all the apps and started to cry. Days after I sat down and watched it, it hurt...but not because they were announcing they wanted a "me time", it hurt because they had all those feelings for so many time and still worrying about us?! like I was mad for those people who put so much pressure to them like ..they are human too! I was repeating to the screen "please don't feel guilty please don't do feel bad for us, we are going to be here always whatever your decision is"....on the other hand, I was so so so so grateful to them, the honestly they had to us, how they showed to us vulnerable, I confirmed - one more time- that I am in this Bangtan life forever💜 They could easily have gone to ms during covid, but they thought of us "It's too much for army, covid and now if we go...." ufff, the love they have for us...only Army could understand how loved we feel by them, and how much we want to protect them and wish them only happiness in the way they want....omg I'm so emotional, hehe thanks so much for reacting to this, can't wait for part2.
I cried so hard watching this last 2022. But I still watch this from time to time because I want to understand fully what the members are saying. For me also to have a stand with everything that is going on, to remain on their side.

Vi ese festa cuando se emitió, me estaba preparando para ir a trabajar, soy de argentina para que tengan en cuenta el horario, ningún ARMY esperaba lo que ellos nos dijeron, al principio fue desconcertante y triste, pero el tiempo nos demostró que tenían razón, esta pausa era necesaria para su salud fisica y mental y que hayan armado todo un plan para ir al SM juntos y volver los 7 a reunirse en solo 2,5 años, demuestra que piensan en ellos y en Army para cada decisión que toman...y los trabajos que nos mostraron en esta segunda etapa son de una calidad increible...agradecida de haberlos conocido y felíz de seguir a su lado
This is my first time watching this back since I watched it premiere and wow what a ride. I’m glad yall were putting yourselves in our shoes bc it was a crazy experience and definitely hard for a lot of people.
It's so interesting to watch this again now, with the release of RPWP.... I'm so glad that Namjoon has been able to say the messages he wants and writes the music that he wants. All of them have been amazing in Chapter 2 and I'm just so proud of them.
