    Liverpool seems like such a pleasant, interesting city! I would love to visit it.
    I loved the houses Phil showed. I adored the colour choices un the first one. It's so nice to see gutsy decorating choices. Both the second and third houses were breathtaking.
    The houses Kate looked at were much more modest, but good ones too. But one thing I noticed about them, and about many houses on this show is how steep the staircases are.

      I was born in South Liverpool. My parents lived in Allerton where this search was. Aigburgh is just a few minutes up the road.I know these places so well. My family and I visited my mum every 1-2 weeks, wherever we lived in the UK (England and Wales), until she died in 2020 It's a vibrant, wonderful City with great people. I've emigrated but do plan to visit again soon. Watching this has made me very homesick and sad, though.😢

    If she took the last property they viewed on day 1, fixed it to be liveable, rented a room out, got through school - in a 1 1/2 she could save up money to most likely do the renovations

      Getting all that work done and dealing with a tenant would've come in the way of her studies in the final year law school though. Kirstie missed a beat by not showing her a ready-to-move thing, that's why the deal wasn't done.

      @@kunalsen2123Far too simplistic as a conclusion imho. Imho it comes down to budget versus the wishlist, read area. And let’s not forget that a Student does not generate any money yet, so a tenant covers water, electricity and heating, community costs and taxes. And way more conversations up front - that we didn’t see nor hear - to assess whether Kirstie was on the money or not with her propositions. And it’s the entire team of locators’ business - behind all of these episodes - to create a top 3 or 4 to show. Not just Kirstie nor Phil…

      @@litsci1877 what? It's clear that the garden was where one of the ladies was intending to spend a lot of her time. Why shouldn't she be fussy about that? In the end, the boys got normal rooms and a prospective temporary shed they can always remove later to free up more garden space, so it's not like they were asking for a media room or a big basement or anything. Also, obviously, the mother wants a few more years with the younger one before he flies the nest even though she did not say that outright. I think the demands were reasonable.

If nothing else this series is actually helping me develop empathy for estate agents as their job appears to be big-ticket sales to kooks and the terminally indecisive. I no longer begrudge the commission: the sane pay for the rest.

    • @kunalsen2123
      @kunalsen2123 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@litsci1877 , they had the budget for it and wanted to use it for something that would give them happiness, and that's like the end purpose of money. These are older people who've seen life and paid their debt to the universe and all that and are about to be empty-nesters and one has possibly been widowed. They're not supposed to be as crazy about saving up or as expected to be adaptable or adjusting as younger folks. You're not reading the situation but forcing your perspective on them when in the end, they got the house they loved for over 10k lesser than their upper cap of budget and got everything they wanted minus the super high ceilings. If anything, the younger woman was the indecisive one, actually reneging on a deal even with inheritance money, so basically unearned income.
