Hello, I have really been enjoying your videos and am becoming very interested in playing around with FreePBX at my home so I can hopefully learn enough to implement in my small office in the future. You have done a fantastic job of showing the software side but I'm trying to figure out what hardware I need besides ip phones and a pc to use as a server. Any suggestions?
Not much, a small NUC device would work just fine, check out pbxinaflash.com and their forums, they can point you to a small device-pc that could more than handle a small business. Or you can run it in a virtual machine like I do. Thanks for watching.
Walter Bell You can run FreePBX on a Raspberry Pi for a SOHO. I did for a couple of years before it was outgrown!
Hello, can I ask how can I get that Incredible PBX?
3CX *NEEDS* to make it easier to get through the firewall! I really liked what I saw in 3CX. I like the fact I didn't have to spend $150 bucks to setup my Polycom's! (FreePBX home test systems, not commercial). I have two working test FreePBX systems w/out a bunch of fuss on the firewall. Motorola cable modem config dmz to internal linux server. iptable rules to forward ports 5060,5061,5160 and 10000-20000 to my FreePBX VM, iptables also asks for the packets back and bingo, it just works.
I NEVER could get 3CX through the firewall.

I don't put my pbx over the firewall, too risky.. I only take out any voip filtering that is placed on the firewall and freepbx will do the connection with no much fuss. For external phone i only pay the 25 usd for the admin module, mainly for the manipulation of the built in for the openvpn and thinker with the configuration files.

I was considering switching from FreePBX to IncrediblePBX, but after learning that Incredible PBX is no longer going to be updated, it seems like maybe I shouldn't convert.
Your thoughts?
I use 3CX now.
