I really enjoy hearing this kind of money-saving work experience story.

I've only ever heard and read horror stories about 3CX. So I'd be very worried they would at any time suddenly stop service. Maybe I should look into them again.

3cx is ok. Thirdlane Multi Tenant PBX is another very good option, especially for MSPs

We use RingCentral for 2 companies and a total of 300 users and it has been good as we got phones for free and a discounted rate. Lets not forget that 3CX can be ran on a Raspberry Pi and it runs well!!! If we were not using RingCentral I would have moved us to RingCentral! We came from Avaya System(s) as in we had 4 Avaya systems I had to manually manage. Avaya changed their licensing and so we were busting at the seems so we moved to RingCentral. I agree that phone/PBX providers can be scammy.

I first ran 3CX up as a VM, - I was using VirtualBox and was having endless problems with one way calls = I ran it up in a spare unit 'on the metal' and have never looked back..... - I have made preparations for V20 with split horizon DNS and all appears fine, - I am hoping that the Final comes out Soon!!! ...my Free license expires at the beginning of March, - if I am successful with my upgrades then I get at least an extra year as a Free user... - still not clear on weather to unplug the main unit while upgrading the backup... - and do I need to unplug the backup while upgrading the main....

They infected all of their customers with malware a few months back. They got absolutely pwned and shipped a bad soft client to all of their customers. Nice. No extra charge.

I never setup the soft clients when that breach happened. I always used traditional phones and the occasional web client with no software installation.
You aren't wrong about the infection being distributed through their servers, but it wasn't as wide spread as you think, because most people didn't like the soft clients haha.
Nothing ever beats a good old handheld with a PBX.

Did they fix the 3-way conferencing bug? I had to go to another system since conference call recording wasn't working for a few versions, years I was told
