    I used to live in kenton bar, and my little legs (7 at the time) used to go and watch from that platform (bloody cold). Nearest I ever got was flying rc planes.

    I remember the days before Newcastle international airport was built. The terminal was a small white building and I think it was called either Woolsington or prestwick airport, but that eventually became the Newcastle flying club. I think it's now been knocked down. It was surrounded by a wire mesh fence and you could practically touch the aeroplanes. That's back in the days when we still had trolley busses.

    good old days when you were able to watch planes come in and not be forced to show passport and fear being blowing up

    In 1963 /4 wasn't it just called Woolsington Aiport?That's when I first flew.
