    The Edifier S2000 Pro wireless two-way bookshelf speakers are a beautifully crafted fully active design with state of the art Class D amplification and DAC’s from Texas Instruments, a rigid 5.5” black anodized aluminum cone woofer and a planar magnetic tweeter in a horn loaded waveguide. They feature Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX for near CD quality streaming as well as balanced inputs. Edifier wants to give everyone the opportunity to be an “audiophile” with these speakers. Read our review and watch our TH-cam video to see if they successfully pulled it off at only $400/pair.

    I dont understand why so many s2000pro reviews on youtube complaining about the long cable..they gave u extra long cable and u complain?? Seriously i dont get it..it always better to have long cable rather than short cable...however, i agree on the remote design..it dont have to be that long, top sharp edges, and the rounded bottom design make it rocking side to side when u place the remote on the table..its kinda annoying..but its not a big deal..hope edifier take note on that

      100% agree. BTW is an impressive cable. I agree with the remote control... the thing is that these are the weakness is a big recommendation for these speakers.

      Because they’re idiots

    • @Brian2k2
      @Brian2k2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      because it's unnecessarily long, why not give a 5.1ft cable and a 10 ft cable so you can decide which one to use, it's bad design, is as if people complained that a chair is really really big, i'ts more space to sit on so it should be better right?

    • @brentfremming3343
      @brentfremming3343 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The power cable is short.

    • @youdoitillwatch
      @youdoitillwatch 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that it's better to have a cable that's longer than you need than it is to have a cable that's too short. And it doesn't take much effort to curl the excess cable up and stash it behind your desk/equipment.
      My only complaint is that, since the Edifier speaker cables are proprietary, and since they sell spare cables on their website, it would be nice if they offered different length cables as an option. As I'm writing this, the only cables Edifier offers are 5m/16ft.
      Regarding the remote: the remote supplied with the s1000Pros is much more ergonomic than the remote supplied with the s2000Pros. Even the remote supplied with the s3000Pros (while larger than it needs to be) is much more comfortable to hold.

    I bought the s2000mkiii Remote problem solved. The Bluetooth 5.0 is amazing. I use Amazon HD for streaming and I cannot tell the difference between streaming and CD. They also work great for my record player. No USB plug but you can just use the headphone jack on your computer. For 399 these are a steal.

    I have seen Edifier speakers in shops, coffee shops etc, where the speakers are located at both ends of the room. For these situation the long cable supplied is good enough. This is a situation where the speakers are not used as desktop monitors and perform very well for giving good sound ambient music for customer.

    If you drive these speakers with the line level outputs from your PC, usually called 'speaker' output, and if your soundcard hardware and its software allows for it, you can use bass management from the PC and use a sub, it's how I them set up and it works well enough. You select for a 5.1 system and set center and surrounds to 'none', and mains to small, then go to room correction to set the level. I've found there's a lot of variability in soundcard software even for the very common 'realtek' versions of builtin soundcards. The generic Windows properties allows for these settings if the card supports the functions. All of that said, I went to review the settings on one of my PCs to make sure I wasn't lying about any of this and this is right, BUT, in the setup process, you can click on a diagram with the various speakers and sub to test and a test sound plays, all of that worked, including the sub, but playing a music track or movie, the sub isn't getting a signal.!!!! Arrrrgggghhh, it was working a few days ago, this is when you learn to really appreciate the concept of defenestration.

  • @Driver2616

    I’ve got the Edifier S1000MKII speakers. They look almost the same as these S2000 speakers. The sound output is magnificent and just perfect for home use. I’ve got mine hooked up to a TV via the toslink input, to a vinyl record player via one of the RCA inputs and to a BluRay player via the coaxial input (for playing CD’s). Of course, I can also play DVD’s and BluRay discs as normal.
    The second RCA input is a spare that I can use to hook up my phone or iPad if I want to. And finally, the v5 Bluetooth input makes these speakers incredibly versatile and I sometimes run the sound from my laptop through them using Bluetooth.
    Sound bars are old hat now. They served a purpose for a time but nowadays these Edifiers (the S3000Pro, the S2000Pro the S1000MKII or even the very nice piano black R2000DB (which my daughter and her husband have) are the way to go, especially for the price.
    I’ve also got the Edifier R1855DB’s in another room. They’re not quite up there with the S1000MKII but I can not fault them.

    One of the best reviews I have seen so far. I am in the market and seriously considering Edifier. I started really low, now going as high as S2000 Pro. I plan to connect my turntable which has a Pre-Amp and RCA out. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

    You mentioned the smaller 4" driver. Discussing how jumping up to 6" or 8" affects the sound presentation may be illuminating... I have both Audioengine 5+ and Monoprice Monolith 8 and I'm sold on active. The 2018 CES show commentary/critique you did on active speakers were spot on. :) Glad to hear/see the synergy of amp and speaker evolving.

    Hi Gene, your review made me go for this set and I must say that I'm very thankful for it. I needed a replacement for a Bose Companion 5 because the USB connection started going bad. After setting up the system and getting the first sounds out I got really happy. Also I must say that every little detail in your review is true and valuable information, anyone watching it should pay close attention. The biggest pain is the remote control wobbling around on your desk and yes I could probably kill someone with it. The cables are behind my desk so I personally don't have an issue with it but I agree, they are way too long in 95% of the situations. I was wondering if you could use an active subwoofer with the output from a 2.1/5.1 soundcard of a computer. Then again for the typical "PC" applications sometimes too much bass is not good either. Anyone playing games, watching video's/movies on PC, listening music while doing other stuff ... this is heaven and possibly overkill in level of quality, it blows the Bose Companion 5 and anything else in that price category to smithereens with a 30mm cannon. I was very lucky since when I bought them in my favorite webshop there was a bargain at 250€ instead of 450€. Imagine the value/€ !!! Edifier now released the S3000 Pro set with twice the output power. Think you could review that set?

    I have been using Edifier for many years. They make great speakers for a reasonable price. Bought my first pair in 1998 for $125.00, sold them last year for $150.00.
    They also make STAX headphones.

    Great unbiased review, you mentioned all the cons and pro's of the speaker and I think Edifier was taking a note on this regard and introduces the Edifier S3000 Pro wireless active speakers. It's been featured in CES 2019. I would like to watch your honest review on this one and would like to purchase one if your review turns out to be great again. Eliminating that hated extra long cable is a great deal and features a 6.5" (179mm) aluminium alloy diaphragm bass unit and boasts a 256 watts total RMS output and a planar silk tweeters for incredible acoustic reach, that's incredible. But until you will have a review on these new speakers, I will not buy them. Some says it's a KEF, Yamaha, SVS Prime, etc. wireless speaker killer and with it's price range some speakers could be a rip-off. If the sound stage level of these new speaker is the same or better than the S2000 Pro, I will not blink to buy it. I'm enabling notifications on these review and I couldn't wait to watch and share it my friends too. PS. Your drum skills match the performance of these speakers. hahaha.

    Great review Gene, any chance youre still going to look into more Edifier products? I see nothing but good things about the S2000mkiii, which looks to be a direct upgrade to the S2000pro. Albeit, minus the balanced cable options and again no subout, but it seems it produces the lower end very well and extends quite deep for a 5 1/2 woofer. Always good to hear your thoughts.

    I just got the Edifier s2000mkiii. If I’m sometimes using an audio interface, would the r2000pro serve me any better for that purpose? With the s2000mkiii, I used an xlr to rca cable to connect, but...yeah. Not ideal as the gain has to be turned up all the way. I’ve looked, and haven’t heard much about the xlr inputs. I just heard it was meant for a mixer. I could be mistaken, but I imagine an audio interface wouldn’t be that much different. The Bluetooth 5.0 is mostly what attracted me to the mkiii. Because:..I’m not always gong to be using it with the audio interface. Trying to use not as an all-purpose active speaker in a medium to small space.

    I use Edifier stuff since 2004. Great stuff at good price. Check the Phil Jones's Airpulse A200/Model-1, also by Edifier (Airpulse is created and owned by Edifier, it's like their high-end/research branch, the S2000 Pro uses tech from an Airpulse speaker, and Edifier Russia offers the A200 in their page and Edifier China offers separately the Edifier and Airpulse speakers and they have 3 models and the A200 is in the middle in size!).

    For someone who doesn´t WORK with music, but is just an audiophile who enjoys LISTENING to it, plus wants the best out of gaming, is this STILL the best choice from Edifier( or a better recommendation from competition) or is there a cheaper model with less (professional) features and equal quality ?

    Edifier... Please collaborate and add wifi connectivity, HDMI input and Dolby Atmos dsp processor. Maybe create a center channel dolby Atmos brain. Than allow consumers to add different left/right front and rears wireless satellites. Replace and dominate the current crop of soundbars that are out there.

    "Power supply went bad and they were humming" Urgh, that's exactly what my Kef x300a USB PC speakers are doing, switching it off and on again often gets rid of it for a short time. I thought from what I could find from googling was that it was coming from interference from the pc or router :S Now you have me thinking its the power supply within them :( of course, this all started happening right outside of its warranty period, all of 1 year and I don't live anywhere near a service center.

    I see the SPJC Certificate on the wall. Do you still live in the St. Pete area? I grew up in Pinellas County. Iv'e been watching of several of your videos [Home Theater/ Receiver] lately and appreciate your knowledge and honest reviews. I'm looking at getting the R1850BD or R1700BT for my computer desk along with a Schiit DAC. The S2000's are too big.

      A year ago, I bought the R1850DB set. I won't compare apples and oranges, because the quality of the 2000Pro reviewed here is bound to be higher. That said, in a mid-size room, I've been quite happy with my speakers. Loud enough and good sound. I also ran the optical to the TV for sound improvement vs inboard TV speakers. Just recently, I added a powered sub. Not that I really felt that they were lacking... But yes now I can literally rattle the windows, not that I really like that... But below that, the deeper bass is cool. Very, very versatile. Additionally I discovered an EQ in Spotify so that allows me to further customize the sound. In sum, the R1850DB set is an incredible versatile feature-packed value.

    I just purchased the Edifier SD150db 2.1 system, and can’t say enough good things about them. I feel like I have a $2000 system, and spent $300.

      They're both capable speakers, s2000's have larger bass extension though.

    What if I want to use the speaker in my living room left & right corner beside my 65in 4K TV. This is where I would need the speakers to be far apart (say 10 feet) & would need 3 feet of wire going down from from the speaker to the floor & on to the other speaker 3 feet of wire going up to the speaker that sits at the TV height.
