I dropped my 3 wood this year because of lack of distance and consistency. I added the Callaway A1 Smoke 5Wood, I have gained 15+ yards and much better consistency, dispersion is really good for me. I tried quite a few different brands and found the A1 fit me best. I’m surprised you didn’t add this to the mix.
Often overlooked. Cleveland Hy-Wood 3+. I did a similar test with 4 different 5 woods, the Hy-Wood was second in distance but by a considerable margin first in consistency and accuracy. As always it’s an individual thing.
got rid of my Ping G430 max 3 wood and replaced it with a tour Edge Hot Launch 4 wood best decision i could make and glad i did now to get a 7 wood or a 3 hybrid great video Chris and Dave cheers from Canada
Hey Chris we would love to see you and James play the Bryan brothers. Wesley has said that their golf course ( salina ) is available to all content creators. Anyway looking forward to seeing more great golf from you guys. God bless and Happy holidays from Tennessee.
I also use hybrids like Dave but love my 5 & 7 woods. 7 is great from fairway, rough, into greens and off the tee on longer par 3s. Maybe a 7 wood test next? I’m surprised Chris hasn’t got one into Dave’s bag already 😮
Another stripefest from Dave. Well done, pal! Interestingly, the simulator registered a clubhead speed of 99mph on one of the shots. I doubt either of you would put much confidence in that measurement?
Never played any fairway wood for the first 20 years of golf, but got me a Mizuno 230max 5 wood this year after my new driver started flying further than the old one. Love it.
Has Dave tried the Cleveland Hy-Wood? It's 17 degree and has the rails on the bottom. It may not be the longest but it could be better for accuracy. I can't hit a 3 wood but I'm far more confident with my hybrids and this could be a good tweener for some players.
For me I went with an Adams golf 3 and 5 woods. Money wasn't the reason even though they are cheaper than the big names. For me they are not the longest but again for me they are the easiest to hit, very forgiving, fly high, and are fairway magnets. Also, they work really well in bad lies.
I just recently put a Qi 10 Max 7 Wood in the bag and it is👌😀 So easy to hit and I carry it around 175 yards but it is gold and wet so probably near 200 when the sun comes out again☀️😎
I usually play the 3 wood and leave the 5 at home. I have a 9w also. In between, it's an 18° Cleveland HyWood. Not quite as long as the 5w, but more accurate.
Honestly I got a 4 hybrid I hit off the tee most par 4s . Gets me 240+ every time . Learning to play my game not try to hit it 300 every time . I don’t want any fairway woods I’m going to grab a 3 or 2 hybrid for little bit further shots. I honestly don’t need a 3 wood and hit long enough . Maybe later once feel better over ball but honestly I’m consistently close to breaking 80 every round and finding my sweet spots are 160-100 in . 4 hybrid has been game changer for me
I hit 3 wood pretty well off the fairway, it’s just there isn’t any real difference in distance between 3 and 5… I plan on going 4 wood or 16.5° 3 wood paired with a 7wood… I have a lot of fairway trees on my local.
As someone who draws the ball, the last thing I need as I age is clubs that are draw biased. Anybody have a good suggestion for a manufacturer that makes easy to launch fairway woods that aren't also draw biased? I've hit Ping 5 and 7 woods (constantly go left), and Ai Smoke Heavenwood (easy launch but fight it going left).

Excellent ball dispersion 3 of 5 and distance consistency 4 of 5 while out on the course in live-fire conditions. Very nice

7 wood for me been a great club to use even as a lw handicapper 😊well done Chris and dave 👍

I recently lofted up my RadSpeed 3 and 5 woods to 16 and 20 degrees, so now I can actually use the 3 wood off the tee and the deck when needed.
Callaway heavenwood with a senior shaft
Heaven wood fan boy here too! 🐊🏌⛳️🇺🇸💯😊
Had a Callaway Heavenwood for many years, great club.
High handicapper here but my Callaway Epic Heavenwood is a solid wood for me

Nice video as usual. I have a Ping G430 which sometimes I adjust to a 4 or 5 wood depending my game.
Which is the standard loft?
I have been custom fitted for the GT2 driver, the sound and the feel is fantastic.

My sweepy swing is built for 3 wood. I use a 13.5° TS2. 19° G410 hybrid for recovery/bad lies and to hit a number (190 yardas).

I wish I could swing it like Dave.
Mini driver off the deck and Heavenwood here! 🐊🏌⛳️🦅🇺🇸💯
I put G430 5 and 7 wood HL in my bag this year and hit them good ,75 years old .

Personally I am very happy with my Ping woods and hybrid
How much is down to the shaft rather than the head?
Cleveland 3+ Hywood and 4+ Hywood along with Cleveland Halo 5 wood!
I ditched the 3 wood as well. Driver, 5 wood, 4 hybrid is a much better fit for me.

Since Dave hit the xxio driver well, I like hit the xxio 5 wood.

Got 5 & 7 wood Dynapwrs I would love a 9 wood but they don't do one
I have a Taylormade R7 7 wood and I hit that old club better than any of my other clubs. I get 210 yards with it. Super high and no roll.
I think the camber of the teeing area made a difference 🤷🏼♂️
G430 SFT 5 wood.
Didn’t Dave use a tee outside?
have you or James got your hands on the New ping 440 and the new hallway drivers
Hopefully soon 🤞
