- Molly Tuttle plays "Messed With My Mind" live in concert at The Independent in San Francisco, CA on May 24, 2019. The song appears on her debut album, When You're Ready, released last month on Compass Records. Molly Tuttle won the Guitar Player of the Year award at both the 2017 and 2018 International Bluegrass Music Awards. She is based in Nashville, but grew up in Palo Alto, CA, so this show was a bit of a homecoming for her. Messed With My Mind lyrics:
Paid a quarter to the fortune teller
All she gave me was a bucket of lies
Had me thinking it would all get better
If I could wait around for you to be mine
I couldn't hear my intuition
Blaring at me like a smoke alarm
Caught you lightin’ up a fire in my kitchen
Now you're acting like you never meant me no harm
You had your chance and you blew it
I let you under my skin one time
You had your chance
But you messed with my mind
You messed with my mind
Quiet nights always end in explosions
Wish I never had to see you around
If I walked off into the ocean
Would you leave this crumblin' town?
I’m so tired of your emotions
The way you're starin' from across the bar
Bitter tears 'cause you can't hold them
Now that I'm the one who doesn't care anymore
You had your chance and you blew it
I let you under my skin one time
You had your chance
But you messed with my mind
You messed with my mind
You messed with my mind
You had your chance and you blew it
I let you under my skin one time
You had your chance
But you messed with my mind
You messed with my mind
You messed with my mind

Thanks for watching my video. I gathered all the videos I shot at this concert in a TH-cam playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLwdc0qZNx0tYEWAOh_di0un8-eaAuuMqI.html . The songs are Save This Heart, Friend And A Friend, Million Miles, Good Enough, Zero (Yeah Yeah Yeahs cover), Make My Mind Up, White Freightliner Blues (Townes Van Zandt cover), Messed With My Mind, Light Came In, and Standing On The Moon (Grateful Dead cover). Enjoy!
What a fantastic artist, and Molly’s voice get better with every performance!
Go Molly! Show'em you're more than just bluegrass!
I reckon i'm as big a Tuttle fan as anyone on the planet, these last 17 months but obviously a little late to the party: I took Jimmy Vivino to Gryphon a couple hours before his hit and when I saw Molly's picture of the wall-- framed, signed copy of Acoustic Guitar magazine -- it suddenly clicked. Two months later, she added a Palo Alto show to her tour, which also firmed up her appearance at the Gyphon anniversary party. Win-win-win all around.
