i love that you're covering this game! i'm a very late pokémon fan (i started playing when black and white came out) and it's so cool seeing how good the earlier versions are too. keep up the great work as always 👏👏👏 BTW I LOVE THE THUMBNAIL ❤

Sorry for the late reply, the holidays kept me busy. While the Gen 4 remakes would later blow the original versions out of the water, the original version of the US Silver holds a special place in my memory as due to it's unique quirks not only was I able to get my favorite Pokemon basically from the start of the game, (the Wigglytuff line) this version had the Donphan line one of the two Gen 2 pokemon lines that I always use. (The other being the Togekiss line) On a less positive note it also kicked off the events that led me into no longer enjoying the anime, since Red's reappearance is what got me interested in the game's actual lore.

No worries, late or not, I'm happy to see your comment here!
When you say Gen II made you no longer enjoy the anime, do you mean that your new interest in the lore made you disappointed that the anime never really explored said lore? I remember the Pokemon Generations shorts were so bittersweet, because they were insanely cool animations of some events from the game, but at the same time, it made me realize what missed potential an anime fully based on one of the games could be.

Yeah, the main anime with Ash to be frank is just really unfaithful to the world of the games and they rarely adapt anything well. (Lusamine is the only recent example I can think of to be a exception) The few anime shorts we got adapting the actual world from the games (getting Red's team wrong aside) plus reading Adventures/Special really left me wishing for a proper anime adaption.
Couple this with the several misconceptions it popularized (like Team Rocket creating Mewtwo or you have to be 10 to own a pokemon) and Smash and the Detective Pikachu movie being more of a adaption of the anime's world then the game's one and it just left me sour on it. (Though to be fair to Smash they were starting to reference the games more while still doing anime stuff before they axed the the trophies alltogether in Ultimate, it was mostly Melee and Brawl that had that issue)

You can go back and forth with the train ticket. you can get it pretty quick as well but i understand the boat not being always available. if i missed you mentioning this i apologize

No, I did not mention the train. By the time I reached Kanto, I totally forgot about the train and didn't know it was for. I appreciate you letting me know, that will be super useful the next time I play Silver!
