Ty, for all of the great scenery, awesome trails and bike parks, and all the great riders you get to spend time with is totally wicked...and in closing, your unbridled energy toward something you love to do, in work and in play, is something that a lot of people can't say they get to do. And that goes to all the Tube MTN Bike Channels. Take a bow gentlemen...and, the ladies, that ride where most wouldn't hike...Thank you.
You are a real inspiration Mark! I sadly couldn't meet you in person when you were in Quebec at Sentier Du Moulin..! But I want to say that you really inspire me with all your trails building videos! It made me start trail building and after 3 years of hard work I now had the chance to build and entire trail at my local bike center!
The last trail you rode is my favorite there too. Love that big sweeping berm leading into the steep drop. Was neat to see the big Sharknado jump in person.
I worked wildland fires for a few summers and spent hundreds of hours on a McLeod. We used it to scratch out fire breaks fast and it'd be perfect for these kinds of trails! Fun fact for anyone learning this the first time: it's pronounced "Mac-cloud" not "mac-lee-ode". I got funny looks the first time I tried to pronounce it out on the fire line.
Hey Mark, in Germany it's very difficult to build wild illegal trails. How do the authorities see it on VI? And I'm planning to fly to VI next year and have read a lot about the bears there. Don't you have any problems with them or are you not afraid? how do you deal with them, especially when you're up to your knees in the wild? Thank you for the great content over all the years 🙏🏼
Mostly forestry land here with land use agreements, it’s a whole different world here compared to Europe and building bike trails is an easy thing to do. The bears are super chill, the cougars scare me more but they are quite elusive and scared of people too.
It’s in a private zone, no trail forks, no strava, no dif no ride. Vancouver island’s worst kept secret. 😉 anyone who finds it and thinks they can ride it are welcome to give it a go 🙂🤟
Thanks me too! A special spot. And the dumping is so frustrating. I stopped someone earlier this year from dumping old computer equipment out of their car on that road too. So ridiculous people behave that way.
Another sick looking trail as usual , love your trailwork and its a joy to watch you flow down them with the steez keep stacking dirt bro
Thanks!

That’s amazing to hear Pierre! Maybe see you next summer… I’m definitely coming back

It's so much fun!
That looks great. Love how you describe your intent, then dig, then test.
Glad you liked it! Thanks
Awesome vid Matt! Keep up the awesome work on this new trail. Can't wait to see the final product!
The new trail is looking sick 🤟 If you haven't tried one, pick up a McLeod fire rake for roughing in trails... it'll change your life 🙌

The trail is looking insane! So steep! love all the moss and ferns as well.
Thanks! It’s an amazing spot
Can't wait to see this upper section connect with the lower part of the trail.

@@MarkMatthewsMTB thank you mark! I hope I will find some of your open trails next year
Amazing! :)
How tall should I build the catcher S-berm below the first step down?
As big as you can.
Awesome video as always absolutely love your trail building it’s way over my ability but definitely dream builds and maybe one day I’ll get there 😅
Awesome! Keep going and thanks for the comment 🙂🤟
Tree beard is amazing!
It got some love recently too!
Guess I need to get out there. Has Soul patch got some love? 😊
Where do you build? Is this your own property?
Hey Mark, What trails where the two you rode near the end of the video. Doesn't look like Cumby?
Tzou and CC
Amazing video, if I don't have a private forest how can I build legally trails?
You can’t really go free reign like this unless it’s private property so I recommend connecting with your local trail organization
Will the trail be open to the public when it’s finished?

love that place so much. we have to figure out how to get that trailer off the access road that some idiot dumped there :S
Thanks me too! A special spot. And the dumping is so frustrating. I stopped someone earlier this year from dumping old computer equipment out of their car on that road too. So ridiculous people behave that way.
🤘🤘🤘
At 7:00 what's your insta360 setup? and the mounting setup?
Chin mount, 1/100 shutter, 24fps. Max iso 400, 360 mode. Log colour and graded myself
@@MarkMatthewsMTB Thanks man! 😁
What trail widths are you building?
Maybe 3 feet? Depends on the feature there’s no set width
Team mate @MattJones should come for a visit
Next year hopefully!
@@MarkMatthewsMTB Nice!
What speed do you record your time lapse at?
1 photo every 10 seconds
Yo thanks!
uses that wide camera angle to create a false sense of speed
why does packed dirt arouse me so?
😂
Public comment
Haha cheers 🙌
