Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Kenda Loadstar ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire in a load range D. And it's mounted on this 15-inch gloss black machine aluminum trailer wheel with the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire wheel assembly is ideal for trailers off-roading on mud or other uneven terrain, but it can also be used on highways and other paved roads. The wheel that it's on is an aluminum wheel, it's very durable, lightweight, and rustproof. And it's the AM03 series wheel, which if you look here, is an open five-spoke design with a gloss black finish.
But if you look at the edge of the spokes, you can see they have a machine finish to 'em. They do use a clear coat finish on the front, and even on the back of the wheel to protect it from scuffs and scratches. And one of the nice features I like on this wheel is, if you look in the lug nut wells where you put your lug nuts in to tighten 'em down, they do use steel inserts in there, and that's designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on the hub. It prevents the holes from wearing down, eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of your lug nuts. A few dimensions on the wheel, the diameter is 15 inches, the width on just the wheel is five inches wide.
This wheel does have a bolt pattern of five on four and a half inches. And the pilot hole diameter, which is the large hole here in the center of the wheel, diameter of that opening is 3.19 inches. Now if you notice, it does not come with a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separate on out website, you just need to purchase one that'll fit the diameter of this opening, which is 3.19 inches. This does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20, and the weight capacity on just the wheel is 2,200 pounds.
The tire is the Kenda Loadstar special trailer-type Radial Tire, The radial tire is constructed, has double steel belts, full nylon plies for a nice long life. And if you look at the tread design of this, you'll notice it has the deep rugged tread blocks, and this is what gives it excellent grip in off-road conditions. We mentioned it's an ST tire, which stands for Special Trailer Tire. This has sturdy sidewalls so they could handle heavy loads, and it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on other vehicles. The tire size, which will be stamped on the tire, and it's right down here, ST, for special trailer, 235/75R15, the R means it's a radial tire.
Section width on this tire is 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 29 inches. And this tire is a load range D, which means it's an eight-ply rated tire, so it has a maximum load capacity of 2,860 pounds at 65 PSI. And I do wanna mention, it does come with a speed rating stamped on it, and they stamp it on the sidewall with a letter designation, and it's usually right after the tire size, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and on this one it says speed rating queue, speed rating queue will mean it's a 99-mile-per-hour speed rating. And this tire wheel assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications.
