Coming back to this demonstration again and again after hearing it lots of years ago. It´s just so beautiful! I especially love the way you play from 3:27. This video has been a huge inspiration for me getting the nord stage. Thank you!
What a brilliant talent you've got! Clear and stright to the point. I am fully convinced I have actually wasted all my life prior to getting hold of this perfect tool!
If you enjoy my review, please check out me using the Nord in my band Skyline Sketch. See our TH-cam channel skylinesketch or check out our Facebook page for more... Thanks for watching my video!
I remember watching this video with my dad and then searching for the nearest Guitar Center with a new Nord Stage 2. There were only three available in stock in the entire country. We drove over three hours to the Guitar Center in Houston, arriving just as the store was closing. We walked in, tinkered with the keyboard a bit, and then brought it home. It's one of my favorite memories with my dad.
Joe, thank you for this great demo. The sounds on this keyboard is so good I'm thinking of getting one, and I don't even play. I knock around with a bass every now and again, but for the odd jam at home, and the few piano players I know, it's worth having one. Thanks again.
You can set up how many zones you want (2 or 3) with the buttons top right of the centre section, then move the split points by shift clicking the same buttons (the points are marked with green LEDs by the keys).
Right at the beginning is just an improv. 1:16 is Love Song by Sara Bareilles. Next on upright piano is just fiddling, as with organ. At about 3:30 minutes is me improvising again. 4:40 is Jump by Van Halen. Everything else is improvised.
Sounds good - it was lacking in control, but they've updated the firmware and it now has acceleration and speed settings in the menus - slightly clunky to get to, but better than nothing!
Gorgeous-sounding instrument, and extremely well-done demo! I just watched & listened to some Korg Kronos demos, and to my ears, it does not compare to the Stage 2. As much as Korg HAS improved their piano sounds (finally!), the Kronos' pianos still sound synthetic in the middle range. The Nord is warm, full & rich throughout, Organ-wise, there's also no comparison - Nord wins, hands-down. If the Stage 2 feels as good as it sounds, I'll be a proud owner very soon.
Can you help me Joe with one question; I would be grateful. Can Nord Piano 2 do the same effect at minute 3:45 (with base, synth and delay) because I'm not interested in org and extra synth but I LOVE the synth, base and delay you did there.
What a great demo. The Nord2 has to be the best sounding piano keyboard I have ever heard. I thought the Ensoniq ZR-76 with the piano module sounded great. The Nord2 makes it sound like a Casio VL-1 Keyboard. :)
@adrianh63 It's the full length 88 key with fully weighted action. To be honest I'd say I slightly prefer the yamaha action, but this is perfectly playable and has really quick bounce back - which they've improved since the stage 1.
I love, love, love the way this keyboard sounds, but would like to know what you (or anyone) think about how it feels. I want to make sure it's suitable for classical playing.
Hi jo - depends on the where I'm playing it... in the studio it goes through my Mackie HR624mk2 monitors, live I use an old SRM350 as a foldback wedge. Would recommend Genelec actives as well!
I had the Nord Stage 2 as the keyboard at a venue but I found the patch selection to be very difficult and not intuitive. However the piano sounds were excellent.
Have you had any experience with the Native Instruments piano sample libraries? (Akoustic Piano/ Kontakt). If so, how does it compare? I'm trying to determine if this one is worth the money for the built-in sounds, or if I could get the same experience out of a cheaper weighted keyboard delivering midi info into a soft-synth like native instruments. Does the action feel especially authentic to that of a real piano? I suppose it would make things easier when playing live to have built in sounds. If you could let me know that would be great. Thanks!
@tijmenjanssen Hi... It is connected via the outputs from Ch1 and Ch2 but it sounds too me like your problem is to do with the balanced signals. I'm pretty sure the Nord outputs are unbalanced, so if you're using TRS connectors into your monitors it will sounds tinny as you describe. Try using unbalanced jack leads, or go via a mixer into your monitors. There's also the old trick of pulling the jack leads out a little on the back of your monitors.
Fantastic sound. It is so much better then the Kronos I have listened to. The Kurzweil PC3K is nice but they new to update their systems. Nord seems to stay up with the times.
Hey mate, firstly really nice video, couldn't find a decent sound demo of the upright piano sounds anywhere. Secondly, in terms of space saving - do know if the 76 key version is identical in key response and functionality but just..shorter? Love this piano but I'm also concerned about space and weight. Cheers
Hi there Joe I have just bought one of these to learn on in my retirement I know its probably over kill but you work all your life for these things, can you please tell me how you set up the first piano sound in your video ? Best regards Ron H.
Also wanted to know, I would like to buy a keyboard - one main keyboard for live playing and studio work, you mentioned that you prefer the touch of Yamahas. please clarify which Yamaha keyboards you prefer, and also how do the pianos of the Yahamas (and please state which ones) compare with the Nords. It is so apparent that the Nord piano is in a league of its own, I just needed some comparison.

who could dislike this. these sounds are fantastic

That is such a beautiful pad sound blended with the piano. It's not messy... just pure smoothness
Best Nord demo i have seen so far
Awesome sound of piano! With pad and bass especially AMAZING! The best piano in synth I've ever heard. No words...
I wish that song at the 4:00 mark would go on for much longer!
One of the best demo videos of the NS2 yet. Bravo!
You have literally just sold it to me
OMG so greaaaaaaaaat. loved this part 3:40. GORGEOUS. I´d just love to have such an exceptionary piano
Agreed. This is a very clear, simple demo and shows a good variety of each of the functions in context. Thanks Joe, well done.
im saving up for this. $4,200 dollars to go!
FuriousMuze and?
@@confiance1492 He probably has $2,000 to go lol
It's been 7 years mate, you got one yet ? 😊
This is what the official Nord demo SHOULD have been. Awesome video.
that bright piano in the beginning sounds phenomenal omg
This demo is the reason I purchased a Nord Stage 2.

Espectacular Dvicio Gracias por la recomendación
This video made me purchase an ns2. Such a wonderful board. Dont even care if a ns3 comes out, this baord is all i need
Joe, thank you for this great demo. The sounds on this keyboard is so good I'm thinking of getting one, and I don't even play. I knock around with a bass every now and again, but for the odd jam at home, and the few piano players I know, it's worth having one. Thanks again.
very nice demonstration....what a lovely sound....thank you ....
these piano samples are the best ive ever heard too !
Incredible. What a beautiful stage piano, but your playing is absolutely incredible.
Brother, your music (and the Nord keyboard) inspire me to study music.
Rock on!!
Beautiful! I almost started crying listening to you play at one stage haha :) You've just convinced me to buy a Nord instead of a Korg!
Ah my god. Such a brilliant demo. Great work, man.
wow the trumpet is fantastic

Thanks for all your kind comments... For those who've asked, the pieces I play are...
Sounds good - it was lacking in control, but they've updated the firmware and it now has acceleration and speed settings in the menus - slightly clunky to get to, but better than nothing!
Beautifully done! Thank-you.
Great introduction to a great product. Kudos and thanks!
That is very cool how you can bring in thing to modify sounds so fast in real time.
Beautyful piano sounds!
Great vid showing the capabilities of this machine, anyone giving it a thumbs down ..wtf
Great demo - thanks for uploading
Great review - would love one of these.
Hi Joe,
Thanks - fantastic demo. You just inspired me to buy one of these great keyboards. Only problem I'm having now is getting off it!
beautiful demo
Fantastic! Awesome demo bro! +yaya Sara Bareilles yesssssss
I must say, that Reverb made the Piano sound really good..
Great Job,,thanks for sharing
Really powerful instrument.
Gorgeous-sounding instrument, and extremely well-done demo!

Brilliant demo! Good work
Thanks, Great demonstration, Great Keyboard.
Wawww... u killed it bro seriously nice Demo, thank you.
Great sounds, great demo - thx !
Beautiful piece of equipment
I'm just improvising there, glad you like it!

The synth is something I built using one of the inbuild pad samples - I think it's number 74 in the factory sample set.
What a great demo. The Nord2 has to be the best sounding piano keyboard I have ever heard. I thought the Ensoniq ZR-76 with the piano module sounded great. The Nord2 makes it sound like a Casio VL-1 Keyboard. :)
Very nice demo. I would have liked listening to the electric piano features, too! 😀
Awesome video!! so descriptive. Informative. This keyboard is incredible!!!
Excellent demo
gorgeous sounds and excellent review.
You should approach Nord and do demos for them.
This is really awesome!
lovely recording
I like music (3:23 to 4:25) is your one piece or are you improvising? If this your compliments. Maybe one day you will hear in its entirety.
the piano on nord is amazing.
What is the song o récord in the minute 3:40 and 4 for using delay thank you Aaron God Bless you
You play the piano excelent
Wow. The patch you played with the aftertouch reminded me of the original Sanxion by Rob Hubbard. Love it.
Sara Bareilles as example, shut up and take my money!
@adrianh63 It's the full length 88 key with fully weighted action. To be honest I'd say I slightly prefer the yamaha action, but this is perfectly playable and has really quick bounce back - which they've improved since the stage 1.
Excellent, thank you very much for this great review!!
I stopped it at 4:31, looked over at my Casio LK-265 and I said, "You and I need to talk."
Great review dude. Love that thing!
thank you for this great demo! peace.
I love, love, love the way this keyboard sounds, but would like to know what you (or anyone) think about how it feels. I want to make sure it's suitable for classical playing.

I love this song 3:39
The piano sounds great!
You are really really good :) I now want a Nord 2 !!
I had the Nord Stage 2 as the keyboard at a venue but I found the patch selection to be very difficult and not intuitive. However the piano sounds were excellent.
Joe could you talk us through your studio setup, maybe a rig video?

@Alex4uall Heya, I've posted a comment above which lists the songs I was playing at various points. Thanks for the comment!

My Roland RD 500 is dying
I'm dying for one of these. Awesome pianos. I'm saving up!
That's incredible , if I knew how to play like him I would get this keyboard
