Honestly same. It was kinda sad but was totally inevitable. He wasn't cut out for that kinda life. Love the show though and think that everything just fit.
So sad .. Steve is so awesome but killing this guy destroyed his soul, he wanted to be somebody, but this life wasn't for him, remember him, R.I.P Steve
I don't claim this song as a Delena moment. It began with Rebeka's tears. This is song is more painful emotionally. I moved to the coast, under a mountain Swam in the ocean, slept on my own At dawn I would watch the sun cut ribbons through the bay I'd remember all the things my mother wrote That we don't eat until your father's at the table We don't drink until the devil's turned to dust Never once has any man I've met been able to love So if I were you, I'd have a little trust it's about Mom
I'll be looking forward to it! Btw, Harry Chapin is a good guy to know if you like "story songs." Some of his famous stuff includes "Cat's in the Cradle" "Taxi" "Better Place to be" "Circle..." :) Better place to be is about my hometown!
Favorite line: I'd rather be working for something than praying for the rain. Absolutely beautiful. I could honestly listen to him and never get sick of it.
this song makes me think of life. When I hear it.. I start thinking about my friends and the people that I love. People complain so much and actually we should appreciate all the thinks we have. It just makes me think about what I'm gonna do in the future. and how beautiful life actually is.
In all my years as a human being on this earth, I have never ever heard of a song like this one that narrates life experiences so eloquently. It’s so deep, like the abyss deep.
I remember I first heard this on Vampire Diaries ☺️☺️ It is a beautiful song that always moves me to tears. Anytime I'm going through a "I feel lost" stage in my life, this song ends up in my playlist. I've never heard this song and not cried for some reason 😂 It definitely reminds me of my Dad who worked night shifts, and my mom would make us wait for him before we ate. Ah I love this song so much. There's so much meaning and it just moves you in a way, you know? 😭❤️
One day just maybe you'll stumble over my comment, only my hopes may dream. Though I still try, and for that matter here's what I have to say. My names Perri Anderson 12 years of age born and raised an our from the big apple next to many a farms. When attending school the dreadful bus ride is my transportation through the whole of last year and the start off the this one every day I listen to this song on repeat. Since I've been playing soccer on the bus rides to and from games I listen to this song, so I'm telling you James Vincent McMorrow, if you ever decide to listen, that your world stops when you stop and I know right now for a wonderful singer you shouldn't stop or else some may stop along with it, I may stop along with it,
In the film "People Like Us" this song brings tears of joy and redemption to me..whilst everyone is setting around the table getting ready to eat a Thanksgiving Day meal with the whole family present.....
My A Cappella group On The Rocks sang this with our sister group Divisi. James himself contacted us to say how cool it was to hear our interpretation of the song. Truly inspiring to have the artist himself compliment a cover! what an incredible musician.
the guys who find the songs for TVD just amaze me! there are always amazing songs in every episode i just have to find and then i listen to them non-stop! for example breathe again, echo, skinny love, are we there yet and this song !
i love this son and i love how the people on the vampire diaries can pick great music that works so well with the scene and a bunch of people say who cares what brought you here and stuff but we all just try to find ways to talk with other people about why they found this song the big point is that we all like this amazing song
i dont think anyone should be angry that alot of people found this song through a show, i'm so happy that he's finally getting the recognition he deserves and i cannot tell you how many songs ive personally found through movies and tv.
wow i loved that delena. it was amazing. i loved the 'sure' at the end for some reason...scene was beautiful :') made me love them even more, if possible
I just saw people like us and I cried quite a bit when this song came on. I just love it so much I'm so happy James is getting the recognition he deserves.
Can't stop listening to this. Definetly it's one of the most powerful, meaningful, and beautiful songs I've ever heard in my whole life. May God bless you, James.
never eat until you bless your food in the name of our Heavenly Father and your earthly father is at the table...our earthly father deserves nothing less...and our respect as a man.
just listened on xfm the other day , i thought was this music becoming ten a penny . I was wrong , when a man sings such a beautiful song like this it reminds me of uncle Bob M
I love reading comments and its superb when people actually come together and like what they are watching/listening instead giving abuse to the artist/performer/commenter! Oh and for the record i love this!
Heard on lucifer I forgot the name of the song and thought I’d lost it forever until I watched vampire diaries and it all came back. What a great song.
Right:) It always annoys me when I see people rambling on about some totally random subject that has no relations to what's going on in the video. People need to come together and give the love that they need given to them. And thank you!
Am I the only one who interprets "we don't eat until your father's at the table" as a metaphor for saying grace? Since in the next verse it mentions the devil as kind of a nice juxtaposition: /we don't eat until your father's at the table/we don't drink until the devil's turned to dust/... since it seems unlikely they're talking about his actual dad /not once has any man I've met been able to love/ This song is gorgeous and fun to think about.
Ikr. I thought I was prolly 1 of the only ppl who put any real energy or thought by tryin 2 interprit the lyrics in the chorus. He's makin a reference 2 old fashioned household traditional values & morals that we once lived by. We don't eat until the man of the house is sitting @ the head of the family table out of respect. And biblically speaking; the devil has already long since turned 2 dust, which once again reiterates older, more traditional family values meaning that we shouldnt be drinking any alcohol.....ever. Clearly, these old school values were dead on bc Death was the only D word that statistally speaking ever separated a husband from his wife & vice versa. DEATH, not DIVORCE, was also the primary cause resulting in a separation or a division btwn a parent & their child/children.
@ForeverYoungBabeey I went to secondary school with Ben Howard, he was in his last year when I heard him playin guitar at some charity lunchtime thing, talking to him afterwards convinced me to take up guitar myself. I remember those small school gigs i did with Ben being my first taste of the music that now consumes my life. Music has healed so much in my life, and I owe that in part, to Ben Howard.
i'm not even a christian and my father is still alive. but i don't know why i have too much emotional in the verse "we don't eat....and we don't drink..." maybe because sometimes we don't have injured but we get hurt.
This is probably one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard

Honestly same. It was kinda sad but was totally inevitable. He wasn't cut out for that kinda life. Love the show though and think that everything just fit.

I wish my father were still at the table.
My grandpa passed away in February and idk why but this song reminds me of him. I miss him so much. I can still feel him patting my shoulder.

James Vincent McMorrow = James Morrison's voice in 10 years

Hi Perry please look to Jesus for he loves you more than you can understand.
In the film "People Like Us" this song brings tears of joy and redemption to me..whilst everyone is setting around the table getting ready to eat a Thanksgiving Day meal with the whole family present.....
People Like Us (2012) brought me to this song. It's a beautiful song. Cheers to Vincent..

Yeah. It is crazy good.
his voice- his words sticks in mind, he might talk about Jesus, - he talks - sings about life.. don´t care, he touches- deeply

Love from France ❤🇫🇷❤️❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜
The Vampire Diaries feels so much more intense with this song playing
Song came on Pandora one day and it left it's mark. Gorgeous.
One of the most beautiful melodies I have heard in a long while.
Just saw this on a film, and it blew me away. I then spent 15 minutes searching for every song in the film to try and find it. Thank god I have. :')
His voice takes me on a lovely cloud and it flies away and away ....
And I demand this be played at my funeral
this is how paradise sounds
i dont think anyone should be angry that alot of people found this song through a show, i'm so happy that he's finally getting the recognition he deserves and i cannot tell you how many songs ive personally found through movies and tv.
2022 and this song is still a masterpiece 💙

I have absolutely no idea how I found this song and this guy, but I'm bloody glad I did. Peace.
One of my favorite Damon Elena scenes thus far. The way he looks at her. It kills me
They were playing this in the north plaza at my college! Great!
GMU18 , Go patriots!
I love this song. Can't quite put my finger on why.. It's just nice to listen to. Goes right into the mind and leave a mark.
Pretty sure that we the Irish have the most talented singers in the world... What a privilege to listen to this poetry
This song is so beautiful - I could listen to it for hours! THANK YOU SO MUCH JAMES FOR BRINGING SOME ORIGINALITY INTO MY LIFE!!!!!!!! (:
Yes,I know. We don't eat without him at the table, meaning he doesn't eat 'til he thanks the lord says his prayers, merely a grace
his voice is so touching... thanks chuck, for showing some wonderful music!!!
just listened on xfm the other day , i thought was this music becoming ten a penny . I was wrong , when a man sings such a beautiful song like this it reminds me of uncle Bob M

Chuck bought me here. I hope they make a movie
James Vincent McMorrow is fucking LEGIT. If this were the 1970's he'd have 10 Grammys by now.
I'd rather be working for something, than praying for the rain.
This is honestly, truthfully one of the greatest songs I have ever heard in my life.
even if i had a really bad day, I just play this song, and every problem dissapeard, thanks for this gods affair
He's got the voice of a soulful black man.
Primeiro a ouvi em Chuck há muito tempo, agora em Lúcifer e bateu uma enorme nostalgia... Eu adoro essa música ♥
Tocou em TVD também!
I have a picture of my Dad at the table, after hearing this CLASSIC tune on MAYANS,I CHERISH THAT PICTURE SO MUCH MORE......❤🧡🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
When my husband had died, nothing hit me as hard as when the kids and I sat at the table to eat and his chair was empty
This song has ripped a hole in my heart W O W

"We Don't Eat"
If this is redemption, why do I bother at all?
There's nothing to mention, and nothing has changed
Still I'd rather be working for something, than praying for the rain
So I wander on, until someone else is saved
I moved to the coast, under a mountain
Swam in the ocean, slept on my own
At dawn I would watch the sun cut ribbons through the bay
I'd remember all the things my mother wrote
That we don't eat until your father's at the table
We don't drink until the devil's turned to dust
Never once has any man I've met been able to love
So if I were you, I'd have a little trust
Two thousand years, I've been in that water
Two thousand years, sunk like a stone
Desperately reaching for nets
That the fishermen have thrown
Trying to find, a little bit of hope
Me, I was holding all of my secrets soft and hid
Pages were folded, then there was nothing at all
So if in the future I might need myself a savior
I'll remember what was written on that wall
That we don't eat until your father's at the table
We don't drink until the devil's turned to dust
Never once has any man I've met been able to love
So if I were you, I'd have a little trust
Am I an honest man and true?
Have I been good to you at all?
Oh I'm so tired of playing these games
We'd just be running down
The same old lines, the same old stories of
Breathless trains and, worn down glories
Houses burning, worlds that turn on their own
So we don't eat until your father's at the table
We don't drink until the devil's turned to dust
Never once has any man I've met been able to love
So if I were you my friend, I'd learn to have just a little bit of trust

but i don't know why i have too much emotional in the verse "we don't eat....and we don't drink..."
maybe because sometimes we don't have injured but we get hurt.
