Its actually kinda funny cause it was a total accident, while I was doing my first playthrough I inputted the wrong move with Valkyrie and ended up reflecting back an attack she was weak to, but since she learned Safeguard I got a half press turn instead of losing all of them and then it occurred to me it could come in handy at one point... sure enough it did eventually lol (I also use Safeguard shenanigans on the Magic Build fight aganst Demi-Fiend)
I hope someday that there's an RPG where a boss character starts grinding and levelling up and comes at you with a solid strategy as if they were a player character.
yup, funny enough if I checked the status screen it doesn't show Adversity once I pop Critical, but you can tell by the huge spike in damage that its still active there lol
I tried this trick to kill Shiva. But why once I use Dark Gem to kill my own demons for Magatsuhi (2:13 in the video), It recovered to about only 50% as shown in the below photo, not 100% for using double-magatsuhi skill as shown in the video. Why? The only different things was that I used three different demons. But they were weak to dark as well. I don't think that is the point.
This was done on the original version of SMT5 (see date), they nerfed the Magatsuhi you get back from the vengeance miracle in SMT5V (the version I assume you tried this on), so the double magatsuhi set up needs extra steps now to make up for the less magatsuhi you get back.
Theres a Miracle that fills up the Magatsuhi gauge quite a lot when an ally dies. Im assuming after popping Adversity, the Dark Gems from the Safeguard reflect setup help with that

Unrelated but the Angel's low health animation unnerves me so much, specifically how its arm bends like it's broken or something.
Did not know that reflecting and hitting your own weakness counts for press turns
ONLY if you have Safeguard on, otherwise you will lose all your press turns (thats why I highlighted it when I went through the builds at the end)
If you only need turns, you can bench demons, he reflected to get 100% crit from deaths

a miracle late in the game causes magatsuhi skills to no longer consume the entire bar.
Wait is that a bug where you get turns for reflecting that dark gem and hitting your own weakness? Or has it always worked that way?
I have to believe it's safeguard to prevent the turn loss, and since it strikes a weakness, lo and behold a press turn
