I was thinking about getting a fancy e-ink tablet or note-taking device, but now I am being pulled back into considering the Scribe hahah. I have about 1,000 manga volumes on Amazon Kindle alone, so your demo is something I would really be interested in using. 🐔

I've had my Kindle Scribe for about 3 weeks and the updates have been slowly rolling out during that time. I still don't have the option for two column format, but thats one of the features I'm most excited about. The cut and paste feature in the notebooks that's coming with the latest update is also going to be nice to have. The information in your previous video helped me to make the decision to finally get a Scribe, and I haven't regretted it for a minute, so thanks! 😀

@@M-J I didn't have the update yet, and after hearing everyone talk about how great it was, I couldn't wait any longer. So, I downloaded the update from Amazon to my computer, then plugged my Kindle into the computer and dragged the update file from the computer to the Kindle. Then all I had to do was go to the advanced settings on the Kindle and tell it to update. I don't normally like to do stuff like that because I'm afraid I'll mess something up, but I was out of patience. It worked! Now I'm able to read in two column landscape mode with the large bezel at the bottom, and I was able to reduce the font and still read comfortably. 😁
I got mine on release day. I absolutely still love it. Carry it everyday with me to and from work. I've been an e-reader since 2007 when Sony released the PRS-500. I moved to the Paperwhite series Kindle when those came out.
I am using a book-style faux leather cover with a pen holder on the right for my scribe and that works so much better for me than the clipboard style. Reading is so much more fun that way for me so I would recommend it :)
Okay - being able to email my book highlights and notes to myself is a definite plus. In Goodreads I can see my highlights from my old Kindle (2011 Touch), but can only print them if I copy and paste individually into a Word doc. Would be great to email them to myself... I don't see benefit from the other features though... for me.

I just bought the scribe bundle for around $360 with their 15% off deal... prime day is July 11 to 12 but I will be going on vacation so I wanted to get it ahead of time. If the deal is crazy different then I am going to return and reorder or ask if they can give me a price adjustment :) Thanks for these videos, the price had me in shock but this version of kindle fits my lifestyle more than any of the other models
Oh......in my day that would be reading or watching comic books and my elders always said it would ruin my eyesight reading all those comics....one picture is worth a thousand words etc.............I gave up reading books in my 50's as the print was getting too small and it was a chore holding a large magnifying glass......oh well with the advent of the Kindle and the ability to expand the print size AND the very cheap books on Amazon for the Kindle it's now a game changer......on the subject of the case fraying at the edges I have the other type that has a patterned vinyl covering on it but the vinyl is quite soft and prone to scratching off so I resorted to filling in the scratches with a blue ball point pen and it worked ......until I gets more scratches etc, but at A$30 it was quite cheap..
I’m seriously considering the scribe to update my kindle 10th gen 2020. Mostly for the bigger screen. Just concerned about the battery life, because currently I can go weeks between charging my 10th gen.
If you take a lot of notes or do heavy annotation the battery does go faster, but reading-wise…the battery is amazing. I charge it about once a month. I hope that helps! - MJ
I ordered one on yesterday. I have RM2 that allows to take notes directly on the epub/pdf non drm but does not have light…for me is more to study specially medicine/nursing ebooks and kindle scribe with light, store, will be a big paperwhite (i also have)
I am waiting to get a scribe, because they are not available yet here in Mexico. I am an English teacher and I plan to use it for my lesson plans. With the MS word upload to the kindle, it will make it even more practical to use.

I bought a £10 case for the Scribe. I can see that it will not fray like yours because the edging is turned over and stitched. It is cheap (£10) but the quality is much better than the small price I paid for it.
Going through your scribe videos as I may preorder mine. 😊 I might skip out on the bundle so I can get a case that can support the kindle horizontally, thanks! What storage size did you get? I may get the one in between 32 gb
Thank you so much for your very sincere review of the Scribe (and I just subscribed to your channel). I am considering the Scribe, but frankly, I do not need it, LOL. I would likely wait for future models to come out and take note (no pun intended) of any added features (such as the ability to write on the page) and perhaps even a color display. For now, I use the Kindle app on my iPad Pro and am fine with that. But I love Kindle devices and have owned some of their much earlier models when they first came out. Thank you again. I have had the pw 2018, gifted it to my dad and got the 2021 6.5" paperwhite However, doing my masters I just got the Scribe to use for notes ❤ I will use both my 6.5" PW (for reading) and with my work load, plan to use the Scribe for my job and masters daily ❤ The case. ..Same situation, every time, every kindel, every case. ..
I love my Kobo Forma. Love!!! I use it only for library books and the Pocket integration. I haven't ever purchased an eBook yet. I am looking for a writing device now (I'm a writer AND a reader). I could merge the two with a Kobo Elipsa (Kobo's Scribe competitor), but the writing experience on something like a Supernote or a Boox Tab Ultra A5X is just so very superior. I may use two devices, or maybe wait another year+ before spending the bucks on a combined device (the Elipsa and Scribe writing experience will be on par with Supernote, I think, in a year or two). Anyway. These devices are cool and useful.
I still love my kobo. The Scribe has met so many of my needs and with the added functionality - I just can’t stop talking about it or reaching for it. No matter what brand/device you choose - happy reading and writing! - MJ
Glad you're enjoying the experience overall and the manga looks terrific. I would say get rid of the case ASAP. My Paperwhite fabric case fell apart in the same way and I ended up cutting my hand when more of the surface broke down. Not stitches but not comfortable either.
They charge $54 for that fabric case alone and it’s pretty shoddy. I picked up a different one last night for way cheaper and will cover it in stickers 🤭
I just wish Amazon/Kindle would make it easier to download and install, the updates… the newest software update has been out for a week or more but it still hasn’t showing up to install. Yes, I can manually download and install but I shouldn’t have to. The Kindle Scribe case is poor, especially for the price… there are third party folio cases out there that are better value than this case.
Nice review. I am excited about the updates. I don't like the bulk of a case, so I use the silicone back and a sleeve. That being said, you may want to contact Amazon CS about your case for a replacement or partial credit toward a different case.
And the BRAND NEW updates that just came out. I have to film another video! 😂 I did pick up a relatively inexpensive case and littered it with bookish stickers to make it my own. I just may talk to Amazon CS about it. Two of my friends are experiencing the same fraying. Thank you! - MJ

Unfortunately, that particular brand of it isn‘t available at Amazon here in Germany, but I found an apparently identical cover under a different brand name. Looking forward to „origami freedom“ with my as-yet-unpurchased Kindle Scribe as a reading device with occasional notetaking and list making. Should be a winner, especially as compared with my Kindle Voyage for reading so far (with its great form factor but limited screen real estate). As a person of somewhat elevated age who needs reading glasses and likes to zoom text a bit larger for comfort, having the bigger screen on the Scribe should be perfect, despite the weight penalty which - thanks to the origami cover - won‘t always be an issue. :-) Thanks for saving me from buying the bundle with the fray-prone Kindle cover!

You have beautiful eyes - amazing review. I know the regular small Kindles allow us to email the annotations to the registered email ID in CSV and PDF formats. I have seen the highlights and typed notes are included in the CSV and PDF they email. What about the handwritten notes? Do those sticky notes get included in the PDF as well? Can you please let me know about this?

I'm fascinated by this double page thing... mainly because I'd never use it! I always go for the single page view when reading pdfs on my laptop. I only use the double page view for double page spreads, which is quite useful in the case of magazine pdf reading. But for books... I only read one page at a time, so why would I need to be able to see two? Yes, the price is a huge issue for me, and it really needs to be colour for reading most non-manga comics on.
Ha Ha. TBH, the double page view is open book style, but on an e-reader. I know, I know - but it is a feature that I love. The joy this device has brought me is worth every cent (which happened to be free anyway.). Cheers, Dave!

I absolutely cannot recommend a better e-reader for manga than this one! You can try it out, and if you don't LOVE it - it can always be sent back.

There is nothing better for reading. I do love my Scribe. I have really tried the two columns for extending reading.

You have beautiful eyes - amazing review. I know the regular small Kindles allow us to email the annotations to the registered email ID in CSV and PDF formats. I have seen the highlights and typed notes are included in the CSV and PDF they email. What about the handwritten notes? Do those sticky notes get included in the PDF as well? Can you please let me know about this?

@@Edmond_Dantes76 There were some good deals happening recently with the Scribe. I plan on trading mine in to get the newer model - if & when that happens.
I'm fascinated by this double page thing... mainly because I'd never use it! I always go for the single page view when reading pdfs on my laptop. I only use the double page view for double page spreads, which is quite useful in the case of magazine pdf reading. But for books... I only read one page at a time, so why would I need to be able to see two? Yes, the price is a huge issue for me, and it really needs to be colour for reading most non-manga comics on.
Ha Ha. TBH, the double page view is open book style, but on an e-reader. I know, I know - but it is a feature that I love. The joy this device has brought me is worth every cent (which happened to be free anyway.). Cheers, Dave!

@@lonnie4827 I used “cash back” earned from credit card purchases that had built up over 4 years. I had WAY more than enough cash back banked to buy it. So yes, technically it was free. That was the only way I could justify making the purchase in the first place to myself. If I didn’t like it, I had full intentions of sending it back. But I honestly ❤️ it! - MJ
