It was Aretha herself, that requested of Celine that she perform at this tribute, and because Aretha was a civil rights activist and knew Dr King and his family, Celine chose this particular song. I feel she made Aretha very happy. R. I. P. Aretha, GENIUS, GODDESS OF SOUL, and thank you, from my soul to yours.
So did Aretha know she was going to die soon and that they would do a tribute?

Aretha's original recording key, and Celine has the agility to copy note for note, riff for riff - even though her voice isn't as beautiful as Aretha's.

In the part of “I believe that I’m able to carry on” she is almost melting in tears and the emotion she puts on it, for me, is absolutely precious
I just love her. The distortion in her voice toward the end was perfect.
I feel this was one of her best performances in a while in terms of emotion, she really gets into the music.

She didn’t often put this kind of distortion into her voice but it always sounds so good lol. She has a song called That’s Just the Woman In Me where she adds this sort of distortion and it makes it sound like nothing else she ever recorded.

I agree! Lets celebrate her while she is with us. She has brought so much love to this planet. One of the few that mzde it in show business straight without drugs etc. A stong head and a beautiful heart and soul. She was never aboit her look but about her voice. Rare these days!!!

I agree with you. She sing a Whitney Houston song in her tribute and I saw in your face that you like it. Now for Aretha. Celine can do in her way any song, but you and me feel her respect. I have to say that Jennifer Hudson perform a Whitney song when she was live and I like her so much. But Celine is out of this planet. Whitney, she was and always will Whitney. We can not compare Whitney with anybody and Celine is another that do not have nobody to compare. But, Celine have the voice and the hability to do and sing whatever we can imagine. She is the voice but she have another thing that I do not see and make her, without singing, a wonder woman and is her respect, her support for everybody (see a Lady Gaga when she began in Las Vegas after Celine) and the good, honest and beautiful person that she is 😊

No so long before Aretha’s death, she recorded her own live rendition of “My Heart Will Go On”. She was very old, ill, and it was a home recording, so not the best quality. But it was very emotional and beautiful. It goes to show these two divas had a true connection and liking for each other, despite the drama Mariah still hasn’t ceased to perpetuate to this day.

Celine virtually copies Aretha's original recording note for note. Maybe doesn't have Aretha's beauty of sound, but Dion's agility allows her to emulate the Queen very well.

Aretha’s team didn’t invite her sour ass. This was Aretha’s way of smacking her for Celine Dion.

I adore Celine, and I think she is one of the best ever, but not a fan of her doing this song. I wish she would've done an Aretha song instead.
Aretha did record this song. And Sam was one of Aretha’s very fave vocalists, that’s why Celine chose the song.
Aretha DID sing this! She was in love with Sam. She was also highly active in the Civil Rights Movement.
