@AsianAnglingAddict years ago I was dropping large fish by the power plant like in your video. When the sun came out I looked at my plug and the hooks were straightened out. It was a knock off magic swimmer from canal bait and tackle. I swapped plugs and I was on. If I run into you again I have a plug for you to try....

This is my favorite rod for the canal. I can both jig with 5 plus oz. and is great for plugging also.
Not trying to hate but those two fish that popped off consecutively could’ve been from to tight of drag

Those Lamiglas rods are nice. I cant stand the grips they decided to put on them though. Feel too slippery for my liking

Did you swap out those factory hooks,? Same thing happened to me. I run 2 4/0 vmc 6x, i got away from canal rigged.
Canal rigged 4/0 mustard 5X, barbs crushed.

Great video. Sucks drop so many fish. It was happening to me too. Sucks. I almost landed on my ass also when the fish popped off.
