Using the scrubber to create a vacuum and just leaving the food in nitrogen from the jetpack is something I feel like I never would have thought of but it seems so simple. Love your videos!!
Really looking forward to this series. Binge-watched your Venus Guide while playing my first Stationeers run. I’m enjoying the thermodynamic and controlling stuff as I can test out in Stationeers what I’m learning in my Aerospace Engineering Studies at University.

Love your getting started vids. Don't think I would have had the patience to start playing stationeer difficulty without them. I think that if I was to steal your starting ideas, I'd flip the H2 combustor set up 180 degrees, run the O2 docking through the wall, slap down a couple writer switches and run the whole thing from inside.
Yes, that would be a nicer setup (though I don't have an electronics printer yet to make a logic switch, and I would want insulated pipes so I don't contaminate my O2 tank or the inside of my base with too much heat). My plan is to move this setup over by the greenhouse once I get that built, and then feed it O2 directly from the greenhouse filtration.
Possibly a bit, but once I have heavy cables I'll be moving the solar panel(s) to the south side of the roof. I put it there to save cables. The few times I checked the power output it was pretty high.
I just watched all your Venus videos and I don't know if this is addressed at all later on. But if you lower the pressure of your suit in hot environments you can reduce the amount of oxygen sent to the waste tank. I normally keep mine at just above where I get a low pressure warning (20-25kpa?).
I can't promise anything. I'm not much of a big base builder, and I felt the same about Minecraft when I was playing that. I really enjoy the survival aspects. But I'm considering taking these series a bit further into advanced furnaces, etc.

I just saw that. It doesn't really invalidate this getting started guide, but it will make starting on Vulcan a little easier. You'd have to find another use for the fire extinguisher, like putting out fires or something. :)
True. The last game update made it so that canned food doesn't decay anyway, so what I did in this episode was a stop-gap measure just to be able to make the game playable.
I might have misread a patch note somewhere. Isn't food preservation optimal at neg70? Seem to remember cooling below that actually increases decay again slightly
I thought that too, but having tried it a couple times, I'm not sure it's any faster. It's possible that deconstructing the lander and then carrying them in might be faster though, since it saves you all the time spent wrenching and chasing crates.
So now that you can’t fill bottles of water if temps are above 100c, how do you do this now? The air temps are well above 100c so the water bottles don’t fill anymore using the same system you outlined here. I just tried it today mirrored exactly like this. I didn’t think it would work but I’m curious as to what modifications you have to make to make this work now.

It is also kind of funny cause the first thing they said is no vacuum cooling, but vacuum food preservation is okay.

The ambient temperature is hot enough that no bacterial or final colonies can actually survive in perishables.

It seemed to be -140 in tests, but the latest beta notes seemed to indicate eventually colder will be better, but pressure will also matter.
Wouldn't it be faster to unwrench the storage boxes from the lander and bring them inside instead of picking each item one by one?

I assume you'd need to use a heat exchanger to a gas and then cool that gas with an AC unit.
If you put passive vents on your airlock pipes, you won't need to pressurize the airlock. Just depressurize and open the doors.
