Your collective take on facing internet negitivity with compassion and grace it the complete TPS experience in a nutshell. The honor and grace you both display day after day and video after video is the whole damn point of TPS. Thank you both for everything you do. We are all better people for the example you both set.
happy day to you both, thought I’d mention that I just ordered a mythos cestus based on a lot of dans insight and experience with the ac30/ac15. I have a *very gainy old badcatt 50watt head, and maybe it’s my cabinet but the amp has some lower mid presence that I’ve always struggled to scoop away. in addition to adding some gainy trebly limiting I look forward to hearing the various toggles and how they effect the tone! thanks for inspiring me to keep exploring guys, cheers until next week.
Gentlemen, please ask Will Sergeant on the show. The man is an icon, without whom Alternative music would sound very different. And his ability to create incredible parts and sounds, makes him a perfect match for this show (and has made him widely influential, yet criminally under referenced). He’s also taking control of guitar and production duties for the new Courtney Love record. There’s gotta be much to discuss.
Stringjoy are great. I’ve been using the 10s and 9.5s for years now. I used to use the NYXL type but I find the Stringjoy just last longer and feel/sound better to me.
I would die happy if u had Nick McCabe on the show. He’s the reason why I picked up guitar. He’s a fairly private dude so I get his hesitancy! C’mon guys. U gotta get him on. lol.
100% this. Nick McCabe is a complete legend and I suspect he'd have all manner of interesting (and quite different) opinions - might be a discussion that would challenge many of the often repeated ideas in guitar tone/gear discussions.
Great show as always but a tiny bit confused over Dan's advice ref volume pedals. The bit about putting a volume pedal between the gain and modulation stages I totally get. But its the part about Dan saying if you just run, say, a Strat into a 250k volume pedal at the start of your chain you are effectively reducing it to 125k. Have I got that right? If so is that a "bad" thing to have? I often use an Ernie Ball VP Jnr 250k at the very start of my signal chain playing mainly single coil Strats and a single coil Tele. Am I wrong to do that? Should I maybe have a buffer between my guitar and the volume pedal? My tuner is buffered as are several pedals like my Blues Driver so could place them between if you suggest. Any clarity much appreciated!
on the subject of valves.... modern ones seem to be so unreliable. Going through a phase of my two marshall heads going down about every 6months with valves rattling, tinging or dying. Is there merit in buying the super spenny valves like Genalex Gold Lion etc over say JJ?
Obviously the wrong use but in terms of onomatopoeia I've used the term "Rinky-Dinkies" for the skitters. Sorry folks. Can't come out tonight. I've got a bad case of the Rinky Dinkies.
@MrNeilltupman yeah does drop a bit I see what you mean, seems more like an EQ change to me though, does a bit darker EQ for about 10 seconds then seems to pick up again, might be a pre amp or mic problem or lead?
The machinations of modern economies. It would be tempting to get a little Marxist about it. We all want to have a job, get paid well and fairly. ‘We’ also seem to want to have access to endless stuff at impossibly low prices. The two things are ultimately incompatible, so yeah, somebody gets the shitty end of the stick. Would ‘we’ accept it? Maybe, maybe not.
@@ThatPedalShowthey are completely incompatible. I’m quite happy to get very Marxist about it. Capitalism and our dependence on it as a system and apparent addiction to it is utterly horrific. As far as pedals and gear goes - I think what’s best is where we can we buy knowing as much as we can about a company and perhaps give the likes of Berringer a miss with their £17 DI box! In the UK it is easy to make pretty ethical decisions with pedals as there are lots of well run small companies. It’s a good job making music helps maintain one’s sanity - that’s one of the reasons I’ve been the opposite of Dan and made three albums, an EP and am on album four all since 2021.
The whole business with Rhett getting grief over his R9 was that he decided to get a new loom and Throbak pickups. As it goes, the internet goes nuts if you replace the electrics in a cheap guitar or an expensive one. You're either a dumbass for wasting your money or a dumbass for "ruining" the guitar by making it exactly what you want it to be. 🤣 Unless I read things wrong, Red still has its pickups that the world has long grown to know and love. So, not really the same thing. Hope all is well, fam.
I would be willing to bet that these so-called detractors of Rhett are secretly big fans of Rhett. They probably just wanted to contribute to the discussion and couldn't think of anything else to say. Rhett did keep the old pickups. What's wrong with trying stuff out? Part of the fun! You're bound to make some discoveries along the way!
@@darthkeyes Certainly possible. I've just never gotten on with people demanding that guitars not be modified in the same way that people get precious about collector cars. Even if Rhett sold his original R9 parts, the fact remains that it's his guitar to do with as he pleases. Far be it for the armchair players to know best how the guitar should inspire.

Thank you Hugh. And thank you for being here.
Whilst trying to catch a peek of the ‘new release’ on .25x playback didn’t work, I do recommend it to hear Dan’s laugh 😂
That was an epic Sultans solo Dan!! Love you guys!!
Another great live. Thank you both and sorry I missed it live.
Mick stating he's having a sparkly orange guitar built is tickling my curiosity...what is it??!! 🤔🎸

@@riklionheart23Excellent taste sir!

Red is alder or ash and the sparkly Tele was pine which may have slightly altered the tone.

Right? I'm so happy they were able to answer my question. Thanks TPS!
Catching up on this well after it was live - was the volume/gain drop due to Rosie's bark?
stringjoy - love to try them, can't get them in germany.
I love Honey Picks man! Got this new Appalachia material they have and it's a game changer. Reminds me of prime tones but less clacky
Although I did not purchase a set of Dan and Matts pickups. I sure have GAS for a silver sparkle Tele with a rosewood board !
I think Dan and I are kindred spirits. I don’t generally like sunburst or tube screamers.
I've got a three pick-up Nashville Tele. What do I do if in love with Red's pick-ups?!

Watching this after the fact. Is everyone doing ok?
Everyone here is okay. Thanks for asking!
Wasn’t Mick’s main strat green? The one he sold
It might have looked greeny under certain lights, especially as it yellowed a bit with age. It was originally Sonic Blue, however. Cheers!

It flashed across the screen pretty fast but was that a Mick’s knob? Finally…
Fast and small!

Ha!
Audio definitely dipped midway through this week's shenanigans, as when I came out of the live stream, the next video was massively loud.
Had little change to me, headphones to amazon stick
@@StuCrombiehave a listen at 1:30:52 volume definitely dips for me mid-sentence.

I’m pretty sure people being exploited is how that Berringer is £17.

I’m guessing…empress multi modulation effect pedal. Chorus, flanger, phaser, pitch modulation. All analog and midi 🫣
❤❤❤
