    It makes me very happy to hear how much you appreciate Gacharic Spin, they are the perfect band in my opinion. Sadly they are so criminally overlooked by so many, I have said since I found them nearly a decade ago they should by all rights be world famous for their unique combination of skills, charisma, song-writing ability, creativity and entertainment factor! I will always support Gachapin!

    What you said. Great reaction to the fun song. I appreciate how you advocate for this enigmatic but also insanely talented group based on your previous experience, and I also appreciate that you looked through the lyrics ahead of time before listening to the song. I wish more reactors did that. I'm reaching the point of no longer trying to figure them out. If I am ever fortunate enough to attend a live performance, I'll have to approach the experience by letting everything wash over me to stay in the "here and now" mindset.

    Great to see more people find this incredible band! Their virtuosity and musicality are not an end in themselves, but are there to support the song. I'd put them on a par with Midnight Oil in terms of their energy on stage and committment to the songs (showing my age). And above all is their dedication to entertainment and fun! Best band in the world!

    Gacharic Spin has definitely gotten a bit heavier with some of the songs (not this one, obviously) but they do so well is that even when they go heavy, they do something else at the same time, either it's vocals being uplifting, one of the guitars or the keyboards doing something to keep it somewhat upbeat at the same time. I'm not a musician so I don't know how to explain it properly.
    But it's basically the band that has made me pay more attention to the music in general because there's so many layers and I'm learning how to pick up on certain things, which is a lot of fun.

    • @PrymalChaos
      @PrymalChaos  ปีที่แล้ว

      You nailed it. I think that no matter what they're putting out, it's always designed for maximum entertainment. You can see that energy on stage. They are performers first, then musicians. Exceptional musicians.

    Gacharic Spin once again serve up yet another kick ass song which can rightfully take it's place in their discography amongst all the other bangers. Hana is without a doubt the Japanese Dave Grohl, that of her respective gender. Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Multi instrumentalist, Tap Dancer, Creator of music with Household Objects. Is there anything this woman can't do? Which is not to diminish the contributions of Koga san, Tomo-Zo, Oreo, Yuri and Angie to the band as a whole as they too are absolutely top tier on par with Hana who has often acknowledged that without the others at her side, she alone wouldn't be able to traverse the hazardous roads/terrain that is part and parcel of being in a band. Not sure whether you've managed to upload your reaction in time for selection by the band though if you did, then I certainly hope you'll be among those for consideration mate as your reviews and summaries have been among the most thoughtful and praiseworthy when it comes to these remarkable women who have been an absolute godsend to us music lovers and reawakened that part of our brains that had become dormant just when it seemed that all we were being served musically was yet more shameful retreads of sounds from the distant past (Here's looking at you, Greta Van Fl...😫🤧Zeppelin) without the slightest attempt at doing anything distinctive or unique with those sounds. To quote the great Duke Ellington "There are only 2 kinds of music. Good music & the other kind. We're only about the good stuff & I can't wait to make more of it available to each & every heart across the Globe". This quote most definitely apllies to Gacharic Spin but also Band-Maid, Scandal, Nemophila, Lovebites, Sokoninaru, Hanabie et al. Apologies for waffling on too long mate.✌️❤🤘🇦🇺

    Another great review. Like you, GS has become my favorite of the Japanese bands. They aren't following a trend but are blazing their own musical path of extremely creative and original music which is both familiar but also challenging since sometimes changes in the song might not make sense at first listen but later you understand the brilliance of their songwriting.

    As good as time as any to say thanks, it was during your reaction to Tamashii that I became a Gacharic Spin fan!
    You've read the lyrics but you've got to check out all the folktales they reference, especially Kachi-kachi Yama itself. They help give weight to it, which for me makes the sunny cheery chorus work. But yeah, a contender for my favourite song of theirs, or it was before they released "The Come Up Chapter" on Saturday. This album's going to be so good.

    I love the drum part at about 9:35 and forward. It is almost like the drums sing in harmony. There are so many phrases that start on the acoustic drums but ends on the digital. Kind of a fill that starts with snare and first tom on acoustic but changes 2nd tom and floor tom on the digital in the middle. I'm pretty sure I've never heard that before.

    Like someone mentioned don't forget to add hashtags for a chance to get reacted by GS :D
    As for them "trying to become less serious", it's more like they're bringing back the "not so serious songs". Last two albums were quiet serious, but prior to that they had more songs that were more silly and lighter in tone. Also, electronic side of theirs (heavier synths, vocoder, etc.) was basically non existent (Forever 9teen probably being the only exception) in the recent albums, but from the new material we heard, seems like both of these things are coming back :)

    So many of the cartoon viewed in the late 60's and 70's were made in Japan and the dialogue was transcribed from Japanese into English. But the sound track was rarely changed. so Japanese studio musicians had to write music that would appeal to a broad audience.

    You are missing the references to Japananese folk-tales: "Monkey-Crab Quarrel", "Kachi Kachi Yama", "Mukashi Mukashi Ehon", "Issun Boshi", "Momotaro", and "Kintaro". All of these stories revolve around some gruesome revenge taken on the antagonists. I think what the lyrics are saying is let's chill out, have empathy with others, and resolve our disputes by more constructive means. Angelina even expresses regret for kicking Mr. Tanuki's ass.
    Kachi Kachi Yama is especially dark. It begins with a farmer catching the tanuki who has been raiding his crops. While the farmer is out tending his crops the tanuki promises the farmer's wife to help her make dinner if she lets him go. However, upon release, the tanuki kills the wife, chops her up, and throws her meat into the dinner soup. He then shape shifts into the wife and feeds the farmer the soup. After the tanuki reveals himself and explains what he just ate, the farmer becomes distraught and kills himself. Because the rabbit was a good friend with the couple, he proceeds to exact revenge on the tanuki with a series of very horrific pranks.
