      Why? It's obvious what is happening and it means that any nationality can easily follow it.

    Whenever I take the needle out, I like to clean off the paint that sticks to the front of the airbrush around the nozzle assembly.

    I'm trying to get to grips cleaning my airbrush. Watching that video and in my experience, I'm sure there would be paint residue in the nozzle? That's happened with pretty much any paint I've used.

      The frequency of deep cleaning your airbrush depends on how often and what type of materials you use, but as a general guideline:
      After Every Use: Always perform a basic cleaning to remove leftover paint or residue. This prevents clogging and ensures smooth operation for the next use.
      Weekly or After Multiple Uses: If you use your airbrush frequently (several times a week), deep clean it once a week. This involves disassembling the airbrush, cleaning the nozzle, needle, and other components with a cleaning solution.
      When Changing Mediums: If you switch between different types of paints (e.g., acrylics, acrylic urethane, enamel, metallic paints), deep clean the airbrush to avoid cross-contamination.
      Signs of Clogging or Performance Issues: If you notice uneven spraying, reduced pressure, or clogs, it’s time for a deep clean.
      It is difficult to create one cleaning standard for all because there are many variables that contribute to how much paint builds up in the back side of the nozzle. The formula of paint you use, paint reduction methods (using paint manufacturer's recommended fluids) and the corresponding cleaning fluid greatly impact how easy (or difficult) cleaning will be. Is the paint a quick cure formula, are the pigments finely ground and strained, are you using the cleaning fluid specifically recommended by the paint manufacture? People will tell you that you can spray almost everything, which is true, however some paints will cause a lot more build up (behind the nozzle and on the tip of the needle) than others and these paints will make cleaning more difficult.
      Often overlooked, proper habits and use of the airbrush's main lever can reduce tip dry (a natural consequence when airbrushing). To use the main lever, press down for air then ease your finger back to release paint. When finished, ease your finger FORWARD to stop the paint flow, THEN lift your finger off the lever to stop the flow of air. This technique is very important in minimizing an occurrence called tip dry, where paint collects and dries on the tip of the needle. (and causes a lot of performance and extra cleaning problems). This should be a steady focus for beginners as it takes some muscle memory to do it consistently.
      Never let paint cure inside the airbrush and/ or on the front caps. I know this sounds like something everyone already knows, or maybe feels impossible, but if habits don't allow this, airbrush life and cleaning is much easier.
      These are some of the the learning curves for beginner to intermediate users. It takes time to become proficient and consistent, but most agree that it gets easier over time

    You can use water to clean it, right?

    • @iwatamedea1
      @iwatamedea1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Using an airbrush cleaner is the most effective approach but water can also be used if you are spraying a water soluble paint.

    Since I’m saving for a Iwata Compressor, is it okay to use the Tamiya Airbrush cleaner in any Iwata Airbrush, since I’ll be using Tamiya paints mostly

    • @flyingphotography5770
      @flyingphotography5770 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ IJ Zuikaku For Tamiya acrylics, I’ve been using Lysol All Purpose Cleaner for years. Credit for this tip goes out to Andy’s Hobby Headquarters. However, once the brush is clean, I place a few drops of distilled water in the cup and blow it out under pressure from the compressor. Allow a few seconds of air to continue thru the brush to dry it out. Additional tip: Never remove the needle out the back end of the brush nor never reinsert the needle from the back. Always, always, removal and reinsertion should be done from the front. This method helps preserve the integrity of the point on your needle. I know a lot of videos will show from the back. They are wrong! Think about it!

      Yes, any airbrush cleaner is fine and its best to use the cleaner that is designed for the paint you are using. When cleaning, do not soak the entire airbrush body in any cleaning fluid as it can cause harm.

      This cleaning methop applies for laquer paints and solvent base paints?

  • @bigredc222

    Doing just what he did doesn't get it all out in my gun, I have to keep putting the needle in, take it out clean it, put it back in, take it out clean it, it takes four or five times before it comes out clean.

    • @iwatamedea1

      This sounds like a paint / cleaner issue. Couple of things to think about...Some paints are more difficult to clean out of airbrushes than others. What type / formula of paint are you using? Secondly, the cleaning fluid that you use must be suitable at breaking down the specific paint that you are using. If you are using multiple formulas, these may not be compatible or you may need more that one cleaning solvent. (Ask the paint manufacturer). If you are using craft paint instead of airbrush paint, those will be very difficult to clean (the particles are too large) and will cause a lot of clogs. If you are using thinners, are you using the manufacturer recommended thinning agent? Give these variables some thought as this is likely a paint issue, not an airbrush issue

      @bigredc222 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@iwatamedea1 I probably need a stronger. I bought a starter pack of paint and it came with cleaner. The air brush is also a cheap starter model. I have some commercial thinners and cleaners I'll try, I was just using what came with the kit.

      Try using some of the Iwata Lube. Step #8 on this PDF shows you how to apply it: www.iwata-airbrush.com/manuals/iwata_airbrush_cleaning_guide.pdf

    Complimenti ottimo video......io sono in possesso dello stesso aerografo, vi volevo fare una domanda a tutto lo staff IWATA.....è possibile montare la coda con regolatore di corsa grilletto su IWATA NEO CN? Se la risposta è si......quale del modello Iwata devo prendere, quello che ha lo stesso diametro della filettatura.....Vi ringrazio anticipatamente e vi auguro buon lavoro

      Grazie per il tuo commento e domanda. Se stai cercando una maniglia preimpostata per il Neo CN, l'I1556 si adatta a questo modello. Verificare con il proprio rivenditore o affiliato Iwata locale disponibilità e prezzi. www.iwata-airbrush.com/preset-handle-hphp-h.html - tramite Google Translate

    So you don't need to take out the nozzle cap and nozzle to clean after a session? My old airbrush would clog horribly if I didn't do that! How often should you do a deep clean, where you need to clean the nozzle? Thanks!

    • @iwatamedea1
      @iwatamedea1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you perform a good end of spray session every time you are done spraying you shouldn't have to remove the nozzle each time. The goal is to clean out the paint so it does not dry and cause problems. We recommend a deep clean whenever your airbrush's spray performance begins to decline. How often will depend on how frequently you spray with it and what type of paint you use. Make sure to watch our Deep Clean video as well!

    No siphon feed video?

    • @iwatamedea1
      @iwatamedea1  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not yet. For siphon feed styles, remove the paint bottle and attach a bottle full of cleaning fluid (the kind that is appropriate for the specific type of paint you are using). Flush a generous amount through the airbrush until it runs clear. Clean the front caps (as shown in the gravity feed videos).
      Check the needle for any dried paint and make sure the area where the bottle attaches is clean
