    Does anyone know what kinds of ball they’re using for practice? 6oz, or 10oz?

    How long (time - minutes) should each drill be practiced for? And how times per week? And total duration of time?

    it's sad to see that being good at hockey is almost all about how much money the kids' parents invest in them.

      Development with proper correction/instruction does cost money. However, we can and do, replicate much of these drills at home without spending a lot of money. I've got the basement to prove it. The drywall is littered with black puck marks. Many of the training aids for stick handling are easily made as well. But yes hockey is a substantial hit to the pocket book. So is my oldest daughter's cello lessons...and then there is the cello. As parents you make choices.

      @threethrushes 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are wrong. It is not about money.
      Being good at hockey is about how many hours one spends practicing specific skills.
      The child that makes it to the highest level will have intrinsic motivation to train and become better. It it the parents' job to instill this intrinsic drive, not to pay some guy to spend hours drilling kids who don't really want to be there.

      @@threethrushes I'm not sure where you received your information but you are missing the point and are wrong on many points. While practicing on your own is very important, practicing the correct way is more important. There is no child that makes it to the highest level without skating coaches and skills coaches. This isn't 1980. Whether or not the kid wants to be there is irrelevant. That is not the discussion. Name me one kid who was drafted to the ohl that did not have a skating coach. And again, we're not talking about 1980.

      same goes for Chinese parents investing in kids table tennis programs. For instance...a good ping pong racket costs $600.00 and lessons can run a thousand a month for serious students. It's not "sad" at all. Save the drama for the Democrats.

      I thought you were talking about post-secondary for a minute. Playing sport is fun, performing well as an athlete is more fun; challenging yourself to be better than you were the day before is a skill that will help people throughout their whole lives and teaching that drive to them through the instrument of sport is a great way to help kids.
      But you might not get that, the world is full of beta’s too.
