This short video describing the basics of exposure sampling that occurs as part of the NIOSH Health Hazard Evaluation (HHE) Program. The HHE Program uses various types of samplers to measure workplace exposure to chemicals and other substances in the air as well as to measure workplace exposure to other potential hazards such as noise. Workplace exposure sampling can be done during an entire workshift or during a specific work task. Exposure samplers are most commonly worn during a persons' usual work and generally will not get in the way of the work. Persons who have exposure sampling done will be notified of their results. Workplace exposure sampling is an important part of the HHE Program's goal to assist employees, employers, and unions in identifying occupational health hazards and recommending ways to reduce or eliminate those hazards (NIOSH Pub. No 2014-118).
