Lifesaver. I replaced the valve cover gaskets, vacuum pump, etc. Still oil leaked everywhere. I actually tracked the leak down to the one on the driver's side. However, I did not notice that there were FOUR OF THEM!!!! Thanks for the pointer. I know how to conquer this leak now.
Ended up getting rid of this junker!! The guides on one of timing chains went unexpectedly after completed a slew of repairs. I was done after that. Not taking the engine out to repair a plastic part!.@@dewaynejay1032
Seems like all of us went through the same problem I changed my valve cover gaskets too really contemplating on keeping my car because the oil leak seems complex I am going to buy the O rings tomorrow & will keep you updated! Either way thanks for sharing everyone seems to be grateful & you helped a lot of people out!!!
Thanks new best friend, My sister spent hundreds replacing valve cover gaskets, breather gaskets and oil filter housing gasket. Turns out it was these lil o rings the whole time. Not sure how every shop missed this but it took me just a few minutes to do the repair. It took longer to degrease n wash the engine. Much gratitude.
Believe it or not but actually this simple fix - besides fixing the huge oil leakage - also brought an end to my cold start timing chain rattle I had from time to time, still impressed by this... I actually used a regular O-ring from a ring set and just sanded it down all around so it had a tight fit... worked great and no leaks so far! So you don't have to necessarily buy the official Audi/VAG O-Ring(s) Thank you for the hint! A6 2.4L V6 (BDW)
Thanks for the idea. I had a bunch of leaks and fixed all... valve cover gaskets... timing chain covers... cam position sensor gasket. I pulled the intake to replace the oil filter housing gasket but it was fine. Still had nasty burning oil smell when driving. Saw this and bought 4 OEM gaskets from FCP Euro on sale for $1 each. Before pulling them, I cleaned the area around the solenoid with compressed air, and saw fresh oil seep out. No more burned oil smell! Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much for this video and what to really check. My 2007 3.2 started leaking oil today in the really cold temps in Missouri. After watching your video I inspected my camshaft solenoids and found the upper drivers side leaking heavily. I was able to use the part # provided in your video and picked up new seals from my local Audi dealer and replaced the 1 leaking badly and will replace the other 3 in a few days when warmer. Definitely fixed my oil leak issue. Thank you Terry Long St. Louis, MO
Thanks to you I've saved some money I was going to replace valve cover gaskets and also reseal my timing covers because oil was traveling all over those areas due to these 4 all leaking needing new rings. Appreciate it you figuring this out and sharing it with everyone

Does the ground look like a bunch of small, to medium to larger oil spots, after parking (overnight)? As soon as you pointed to the first two, I thought "that is exactly where it's coming from."

Either valve cover gasket leaking into spark plug wells, or camshaft girdle leak. Valve cover gaskets are about $70 in parts and 90 minutes of your time.
