I was thinking this. My grandmother gave me the first book in the series many years ago. She passed 10 years ago and I found the book. It was nice to hold. I am now reading it to my son :)
Me and my husband had to start minimalism. There was one time he was like I DONT HAVE SHIRTS TO WEAR! I counted all his shirts that night and counted 74 shirts and 8 pants. I told him afterwards, he was very disappointed with himself. We started to sort out his clothes, sold some and then donated most. Now he has 15 shirts and is very happy with it. He gets to wear all of them in 2 weeks (just in time for laundry) and we have so much closet space! IT is the way to go

That is so true that our mind keeps our memories. Vika, thank you for sharing this video! You are such an inspiration! I appreciate your honesty about having some difficulty letting go of sentimental items. I am a very sentimental person, but recently I have been trying to declutter and let go of things that I do not use. Your video is a helpful reminder of how freeing it can be to live a minimalist lifestyle! I especially like how you said you are holding onto the memories that are in your mind instead of holding onto souvenirs. That is definitely the most meaningful way to remember a place or a trip. :)

Oh! A good "souvenir" from your travels might be a reusable shopping bag. My husband and I do this, and I love the French grocery store bags because they are large and strong, and hilariously have a special loop for your wine (in Alberta Canada where I live you cannot buy wine at the grocer). They also remind me of the 2009 family trip for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary to France (my mother's home country) with my parents, two brothers, our spouses and my nephews. I met all my relatives and got to see the house my great uncle built and the canal where my mother did the family's washing.
I started to declutter at home thanks to your videos! I feel so overwhelmed of everything I own. Its time to have less ! And also I have to learn to not keep buying more things. I would love some more tips on decluttering from you 😇
You speak very good English! Those mini binoculars are called opera glasses in English, that woman would use at the opera or theater to see the performers up close!
I hope you feel good about your choices. I find the smallest little odds and ends and trinkets are the most annoying to weed through. But I like how my place feels more neat afterwards.

these videos are always satisfying. i love watching ppl de clutter their stuff which is probably why i go through a “spring clean” phase every couple of months. now if only i could get my husband to be a minimalist 😬
Interesting that you have the book about Голиаф (Goliath). I was only reading the story today. I've read it many, many times over the years but (as so often with Scripture) something jumped out that I hadn't noticed before. "When the Philistine got up and came closer to meet David ..." If Goliath "got up" he obviously must have been sitting down, and that's what I'd missed all these years. And there on the cover of your book Goliath is sitting down!
I honestly want to be a minimalist too. My parents are hoarders. My mom doesn't even remember buying certain items but its all over the house. In the future, if I have my own house, I'll declutter a lot too and be a minimalist.
love your practice of gratitude and remembrance with all the items. it does make me sad that some of the things you see as clutter now could be family heirlooms for your children and grandchildren such as the books from your mother. but maybe i’m just not made to be a minimalist lol
You will probably do this a few times as you get older. About 30 years ago I did the same thing, I had over 5500 books in a spare bedroom, I donated all the good ones to my local library. Three years ago we moved house, I had over 150 hand saws in my shed, I had that many tools it took me about two years to donate them to various sources. I am still slowly getting rid of stuff, clothes are the things I tend to struggle with, I had over 200 ties, I have got them down to 80 and my wife still wants me to get rid of more of them. I had drawers full of new shirts I had never worn, 58 shirts still in their packaging went to the charity shop. My wife is doing great, she rarely buys handbags anymore, she had hundreds of bags and purses, hundreds of shoes, yet she only ever uses the same three or four. We are slowly changing the way we live, trying to be more organised.
Thanks for sharing, it was really cool! I loved those matrjoska jewelry, and the blue ones as well (that you put in the give-away pile). Those orange binoculars are great, I think they are used in theatres so you can see the stage if you sit in a higher seat!
Our family lost my dads bible and it’s heartbreaking ❤️🩹 I have really old pictures on -postcards, some are way over a 100 years…I love them. It’s sad you do get rid of gifts from friends. I Love Kiel’s products! Thanks for sharing all your things☺️
You're so cute! You remind me of myself a bit. I'm always trying to organize and getting rid of things. It's amazing how much stuff accumulates over time. Good for you! You're a natural "Marie Kondo."
I would’ve framed the wedding earrings (because if sentimental value) on either black, navy or white velvet and put it in a small shadow box frame or regular frame and hang in my bedroom in a small area. I’m like you because I like to discard what I’m not using. You’re so young that you’ll find one day that you’ll regret getting rid of some of the things. I would’ve put Grandpa’s camera and the NY lucite cube and books on a shelf for decoration in your living room. That’s just an example. These are things I wouldn’t have thought of when I was your age but now that I’m much older, the ideas come to me more easily.
I Just wanted to thank you. I found your channel on Sunday morning. On Sunday afternoon I made some wardrobe decluttering, a real declutter. I used to do it sometimes but never that deep. (I didn't own that much stuff but still too much as I always wear the same things). And now, i feel soooooo free. I must admit that i ordered few items online but just after the declutter realizing what I really need. And now all my clothes are on one little shelf (winter, summer, stay at home). I tried to do it with my boyfriend but he has emotional attachment to everything 🤣 I donated to local Caritas 4 big bags! Spasibo very much for being so inspiring!
Love the honesty and so much of the stuff I adored but I'm a minimalist like you. And after half a year, I dispose of the gifts and cards and whatnot. But I always keep what is important to me. Two pointers; 1. Keep coins that are rare and will be even rarer in the future. I collect them too, so I know. 2. That scarf your husband gifted can be turned into a cool bandana! -Much Love, from Pakistan
I just found your channel and absolutely love it. I just went through all of my stuff today and got rid of a lot of clothing and things I don't use and I feel so much better after decluttering. I even threw away 90% of my makeup.
Good afternoon, Vika. Excellent job decluttering. Not sure I could let go of family things, books, souvenirs and gifts as well as you are, but at this point, I don't have many of those kinds of things left, either. Fifteen years ago, I went from a 1400 sq ft house in town to a 32x8 travel trailer rv in the country. Since then, I've downsized more to a bedroom size space, but I still have some things to go through and decide on. Thanks for your wonderful videos. They're very inspiring. Blessed be.
I would never get rid of my books! They are like old friends/comfort blanket to me. But I have hundreds, and some are from my childhood in the 1960s and have sentimental attachments. 😍
Beautiful zenit camera! Just thought I’d mention if you get a digital camera you can buy and adapter and attach the camera lens from the zenit to that. It’s one of the most sought after lenses to use because of its beautiful character that you can’t achieve with modern camera lenses.
Hello from New York/America! Your videos were suggested to me and I watched your ‘what I eat in a day’ one and loved it! I’ve always wanted to try Russian food. I also have realized I have a lot of stuff I do not use and I am currently in the process of trying to sell A LOT of it. This video was another sign to just get rid of my stuff. 😂 Thank you!
I need to be like you and be more minimalist. My home is very cluttered. I'm 65 & I really hope when I die I don't leave all of this mess for my children! I know when my mother died, it took us several days to go through her belongings.
Now I feel inspired to downsize my books. I read about 40 books per year but most are from the library. I never reread the books I own. Time to let go.
I sell them. I keep only books from my boyfriend and Stephen King. All I buy or get from friends I sell them less than half price so other people can enjoy them and because Iive in one room apartment I can't aford to keep everything. What I didn't sell, I make a package with a note and let them random on the town, to catch the eye, I donate at library from town or to friends...😁 And I read 35-60 books in a year.
I loved your book collection. Also Agatha Christie is my favourite detective novel author. I highly recommend reading her books 😃 Loved the fact you own an art book with a painting by Salvador Dali on the cover (he’s my favourite painter) 🥰 Wish you all the best, thank you for this video!

Приятно читать комментарии.
Спасибо большое! Если честно, то, что англоязычные зрители намного более добрые, было одной из основных причин вести канал на английском😂 Русские даже боялась бы читать😂😂

Printed Bible is good for when publishers change Bible content from original/accuracy. Or for no distractions, in bright sunlight and as a back up in case of battery loss or internet failure. Also before bed also vs the device light keeping awake..
That is huge that your hubby now wants to de-clutter his things. Have you considered framing any of your postcards? Especially those black and white ones? I used to keep cards from my sister - she always buys the best cards (artistic, or with messages that just capture the moment in time) and I used to keep them in a box, then saw a "home organizing video" where they grouped them and hung them up. I love it. Now I have my sister close to me every day.

After the pandemic I plan to visit Russia, but as many other people, I don't know where to start. I will do some investigations, since I know zero Russian aside from the usual foreign banter. "On Walden Pond" - I've started it several times, never finished it, but when I lived in Boston I swam in Walden Pond once!
Wow!
Keep your dads Bible. 😻
Your Bible and Faith just had us subscribe from USA :-) hugs to our Protestant Christian sister in Christ :-):-):-)
I was thinking the same. 🙏
Thanks for sharing, it was really cool! I loved those matrjoska jewelry, and the blue ones as well (that you put in the give-away pile). Those orange binoculars are great, I think they are used in theatres so you can see the stage if you sit in a higher seat!
Thank you! Yes, it’s my grandma’s theater binoculars☺️
I have a piece those binoculars in black. Here in Budapest from OFOTERT store.
I would love to see the kinfolk recepies that are your favorite .. Thank you for the videos please keep safe and healthy with your family🙏
Wow you did a great job!👏🏻
Love the honesty and so much of the stuff I adored but I'm a minimalist like you. And after half a year, I dispose of the gifts and cards and whatnot. But I always keep what is important to me. Two pointers; 1. Keep coins that are rare and will be even rarer in the future. I collect them too, so I know. 2. That scarf your husband gifted can be turned into a cool bandana!

For your shower scrubbing thing you could change it to a natural loofah that is more eco friendly. I use one and really like it :)
Thank you for the advice!☺️
yes I use the natural loofah too! also good for scrubbing the dishes
You’re beautiful! Natural beauty!!
Blessed be.
Love how you minimalise everything .. We don t really need a lot of stuff to survive ❤❤ But some people need their comfort zone xxx
Books are great to keep and read to your daughter.
I would never get rid of my books! They are like old friends/comfort blanket to me. But I have hundreds, and some are from my childhood in the 1960s and have sentimental attachments. 😍
You definitely have a keeper of a husband lol. A man asking his wife to minimalize his closet is a very rare breed.
Keep your dad’s Bible. I told my son recently that once I’m gone the one thing that I would like for him to keep of mine is my Bible.
That’s great! 40 books per year is a decent number actually!👏🏻
I sell them. I keep only books from my boyfriend and Stephen King. All I buy or get from friends I sell them less than half price so other people can enjoy them and because Iive in one room apartment I can't aford to keep everything.
What I didn't sell, I make a package with a note and let them random on the town, to catch the eye, I donate at library from town or to friends...😁
And I read 35-60 books in a year.
Thank you! I’m very glad that you liked the video☺️
I loved when you pulled the chair closer haha. Your face is cute ☺️ I also wanted to edit to say your English is very very good and it’s very easy to listen to you. I’m glad you’re so open about your possessions and life. Thank you for sharing.
I found you when you have your home your and really enjoy your shopping, and cooking.Your English is perfect.Keep your books, especially your Dad's Bible. You may not be able to get it on line some day.I think you are a very wise young lady.Blessings🙏😊
I like your style of life and the way you talk and share abt your life. It is so simple and inspiring. Thank you very much! It is your 3rd video that I'm watching one by one. Still wanna watch more of them. Please keep sharing.
Thank you! I’m glad that you like my content!🥰
You have such a lovely, calm aura 😊Interesting to hear your thoughts on each item too. Tfs & hi from London! 🙋🏾
Hi, Angel, I visited your beautiful country some years ago. Very nice people and delicious food especially Shepard’s Pie. God bless you and your country. 🙏 🎚 💕 🦋
@@Germany-qo6ko that's so nice! Blessings to you too! 😊
Greetings from Switzerland!
I really like your Videos 😊 and I read the "Mouse" book too, a highly recommended book with great illustrations
Thank you! I think it’s great too☺️ But I’m too sensitive to ever read it again💔
Please tell me who the Author of this book is. I tried looking it up and I cannot find it anywhere!!!
@@michelledesjadon1476 the author is called Art Spiegelman
Your decluttering video has made me want to minimize significantly! I'd love to get rid of more than half of the things I have in my home! You're an inspiration!
Vika you make me feel ashamed for having so much stuff! You love so many different things. It’s really fun to see how other people live and thrive in other countries. Your English is so good! You say everything very well. Maybe make some videos about life in the Soviet Union. Show us how you shop for clothes for you and Ágata, and how you grocery shop. Did you have Ágata in hospital? I’ve subscribed. Can’t wait to see more! Take care.
Thank you a lot! I didn’t want you to feel bad about having a lot of things☺️ I’ll definitely do some videos like that.
Yes, I’ve had Agatha in the hospital. It’s extremely rare for people here to give birth at home😅 But I have one friend who did it like that.
Вы такая искрящаяся, милая и естественная) очень интересно на вас смотреть. Также очень здорово что вы так просто и без стеснения говорите на английском и рассказываете о своей повседневной жизни.
I remember still 20 years ago getting rid of my books .... I had sooooo many... hard at the time, but worth it!
Parting with books is so sad for me ahaha I love them so much. You’re strong 😂🤗
HELLO Vika,
Nice to see you. Hope everyone is well
Love the video very interesting ☺️😘.
It's great you can declutter some books, etc. you don't need or want
I wish I could do this. Had my garage painted lately, threw out all the junk that was in it ( wood, old paint ). I have too many shoes (35 + prs, clothes, purses, candles, etc to throw out 😆 LOL!!!!!
You are so organized 🐱. Thanks for sharing. Take care ❤️ Lyn.
I wish i was like you, i try to get rid of stuff and not buy new, im actually good att not buying new anymore but to get rid of is hard. But i feel like having so much stuff gives me stress. I need to become better
You are so cute!! Thank you for your content! You teach us to live simple. We can be happy with few things. God bless you and your family@
Love your videos. Love hearing how you live in Russia. Please keep making more. 😘
You really are such a sweet family and I look forward to every one of your vloggs ❤❤❤
Hello for New Zealand! Love the graphic novels! Your content is so genuine and interesting!
You are beautiful and have beautiful skin..no need for makeup 👍😊
I LOVE Agatha Christie! I've read all of her books, most several times.
Great idea actually! I wasn’t thinking about it to be honest😅
Wow is all I can say. You're adorable. It would take me a week to go through my stuff like that! Awesome!
New subscriber here. I found your channel from your apartment tour, and I LOVE your videos and your personality! Thank you for sharing your life with us. Much love from a fellow minimalist in northeast US 🤍
The "Zenith" is totally minimalist! In Budapest anno favorized was the Praktica and japan's modells. (I had a Minolta.)
That "thing" is called opera glasses. Went I went to Moscow etc in June 1980, we went to the Bolshoi Theatre. The theatre loaned us a pair!!
Hello from New Zealand. Enjoying your Russian perspective on minimalism and life. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you!😻✨
Hi, SlapHappy, I visited your beautiful country in 2011. Your people are very nice. Plus delicious food. I saw sheep everywhere. I loved my visit. God bless you and your country. 🙏 📖 💞 🦋
@@Germany-qo6ko Thank you - I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip and have pleasant memories :)
Greetings from The Netherlands (Holland), I've just discovered your channel and subscribed. Great to hear you've had good memories of your visit to my little country. After the pandemic I plan to visit Russia, but as many other people, I don't know where to start. I will do some investigations, since I know zero Russian aside from the usual foreign banter. I'm already looking forward to it!
hello! im from Moscow... and I will be glad to meet you!
Hi Nike, I visited your country in 2019. Beautiful! Your people are very nice. And your food is delicious. I visited several museums. My favorite was Corrie Ten Boom’s Museum. I bought several souvenirs which I will keep forever. God bless you and your country 🙏 ❤️ 🦋
My friend here in the United States recently bought that same breast pump and it was super expensive! I think she paid around $600.00 for hers. Great job on letting go of the things that you no longer want. I also have bought Walden a couple of times but find that I have trouble reading it.
That Tolstoy 💜
You’re husband is a good gift giver!
Binoculars is the thing you look out of that helps you see things far away. Awesome 😎 video
Thank you☺️ Yes, theatrical binoculars🌼
You are such an intelligent young woman. Your English is fantastic, you would fit in to life in any California college town and be very happy, hope you can at least visit the US some day. We have quite a few Russians. Immigrants, you would not feel alone, at all!
I always take pictures of things I sort out, especially when it comes to gifts or crafted things. It's like: keeping the items without them collecting dust and taking space.
You are very inspiring! I'm going to go through my books now. I have so many that I know I'll never read again, so I will give them away :)
Thank you for this video! :)
Love from Australia!
Thank you! I’m glad that I could inspire you a little bit!☺️🥰
Hi nice to see something from Holland. Love to see your videos.
Greetings from Holland 🤓
Hi there, you said that you dont't know what to use instead of plastic washcloth: for example one made of hemp string plaited on crochet hook. It's really easy to made and totally recyclable.
Let me tell you ..... YOU are VERY BEAUTIFUL 💖 an naturally beautiful which is rare to see these days . Your very charming an a joy to watch thank you ! New young mum an your smashing it well done to you ! 🥰
Thanks for sharing. The rings are 😍. I have some Kiehls bits and bobs, nice 👌
Have never heard “bits and bobs” phrase😅 Does it mean approximately the same as leftovers?
@@VictoriaTerekhina no, it kind of means a bunch of little bits. You might have a load of bits and bobs i your junk drawer or sewing box.
@@shellsterooney got it! Thank you☺️
This is very inspiring! Thank you!
this was fun to watch! inspires me to get rid of some things I have been holding on too long. Should I film a declutter video? Also I think everyone feels so strongly about the Harry Potter books being given away hehe.. but you need to do what is best for you :)
