Hello there. I am not a digital guy. Therefore I am not familiar with the metering of a digital camera. Said that: let's look at your results of your Canon A1
    1/500 sec you got f5.6
    1/250 sec you got f8.0
This is the same exposure. So no probleme
1/1000 sec you got f8.0 🤔🤔 Right there, there is a problem. If the light has not changed, you should get at 1/1000 sec f4.
So under-exposed by 2 stops..either the light has changed drastically, or you have not read correctly the aperture in the display, or you have forgot to changed the shutter speed to 1/1000 on your camera from the previous shot (at 1/250 sec).
Impossible you will get 2 stops on the A1 (which I own by the way).
Also, you made a last shot at 1/125 sec, but you have not given the aperture in your video.
Conclusion this test is not correctly performed..You cannot therefore conclude anything about the accuracy and consistency of your A1 metering system.
Running such test need to be very methodic, write down the results on paper, and make sure the light is not changing, among other stuff, as there is a lot to it when checking the metering of a camera or of a handheld meter (reflective or incident). There is several articles online to read about this subject..I hope this will help..Good luck with your film photography and have fun.

But the Canon A-1 has variable resistors under the top cover to adjust the 1/1000th shutter speed/exposure gain/exposure correction
so you can take it to a good service and they'll calibrate it if it's offset

Don’t forget that you are comparing a light meter designed for film to a light meter designed for a specific digital sensor. So don’t expect to get similar results

Apples and Oranges... totally agree with you... the test would have had more credibility if it was comparing end product (regardless of settings) and having a control measure such from a sekonic light meter on the side for reference...

Old film cameras read light differently was called center waighted which is different than what digital carmeras do thats why they will never give same readings

A fun video, but a almost impossible task. I don't know cannon cameras 🤔
But I know Nikon. For example the Nikon F3 (similar to your A1 for time.)
Had very heavy centre waited metering 30/70 ratio almost like a spot meter. Modern digital cameras like your Sony have a different centre waited metering ratio. Plus matrix and spot which would give totally different readings. Maybe a close up of a 18% gray card would give more accuracy 🤔
Fun video all the same. 👍

How do you know that the lightmeter in your Sony camera measuares the perfect value?

When was the last time you had your A-1 serviced? Ever? Becuase one of the things that a full servicing does (along with shutter squeal fix, worn parts replacements, light seal fixes) is to standardize and calibrate the light meters so that they function accurately. They can become inaccurate over time.

Very often actually, I work at a camera store with one of the largest used departments in the US, so we have multiple in house techs

@@itshunterking Fascinating! I do know the A1 is center weighted metering, and against some othe SLRs it can get a better exposure. I wo der with the smarter electronic metering now if they are just that much better. I'll have to do a similar test with my DSLR and A1.

Can you recommend me some of these stores? I'd like to send my A1 and some FD lenses to CLA. Thanks!

@@itshunterking My A-1 is suffering with the shutter spueal and the light seals. Do you think a repair is worth the 100-150 Bucks? Or do you recommend buying a different slr?

Does halfing the iso and turning the exposure compensationd dial to +1 do the same? Ive been just using the compensation so i can always just put in the correct iso of the film im using
