the gravity method blew my mind, it's weird how well it works. your videos are amazing btw. i've started two months ago and you're tips help a lot, thanks.
Hi Lindy, been learning online TH-cam guitar lesson. I am over 3 1/2 years in. Progressing well. The Barre chords........ I hate them. Until a month ago seen your video here. @1:42 you gave this tip that changed everything. No more Barre chord extreme finger pain with horrible chord sounds. Now no pain and chords ring beautifully. Now just need to work on speed transitioning between Barre chords. So I now hunted in my TH-cam history to say Thank You and Subscribe to your channel. Also never too old to learn guitar. Its not easy but if you really want it you will make it happen. Cheers from Canada
Thank you so much, your tips are sort of a different approach but accurate, I have never thought about the fan fret alignment to mimic with your index, as and add on, If you allow me to suggest, an exercise that really helped me with barre chors, is presented at the last of this video: 5 TIPS to improve your CAPO or BARRE -Paola Hermosín, it is in Spanish with eng subs and in a classical guitar, but helped me a lot with barre chords in electric, and a treasure, at least to me, as one of the best (an old one), videos, that I have ever found regarding guitar, from beginner to advanced is: Como conseguir hasta 13 cm. de separación de dedos para guitarristas y bajistas - moyatakotka, check them, hope you like them. Cheers.
Good shit my mom is gonna need these tips for sure.. she just started playing. Guess I'm a mutant cuz after your finger shape explanation I looked at my fingers and there's little to no convexity or concavity.. they're essentially flat. Would explain why at 12 years old I was able to play barre chords on my first try.
that's what I was doing, but then found that I was not pressing on the low note hard enough (especially when finger picking) because I have the hand strength of an infant. So, I've sort of merged the finger rolling and gravity method. Deep crevices in my finger joints (aka sausage fingers) are what I have to overcome to get the G/B strings to ring true. You've moved your crevices off the strings by placing the finger higher up. That works, but not if your finger strength is that of a wet rag like me.

I always found the best way for me was to have my first finger over reaching as if I had an 8 string or something
