Early-mid 70's Who came very close to matching Krakatoa for ear-shattering volume
very close, yall came very close.
Love this. Absolutely love it. I am older than he who is "Old man yells at cloud" and I must say that this is the best commentary on his yelling to date! Love it. Thanks!
Appreciate you! It's better when we stay in touch with our creativity, and do what you must to nurture that creative side.
Ahh, I've been deceived by the title, but great video. Music is better than it has ever been; it's just that you won't find out about it by listening to the mainstream.
Listen carefully to hear a formula that pop music has been using for decades! The purpose of pop music is get the song over with as quickly as possible so that the radio station can get to the advertising for the auto sales lot that’s running great deals second hand worn out vehicles that would cost far more to repair than simply purchasing a new one! Enjoy! 😎🎸
Will you be making a lesson on the Unitonic scale?
It's a very complicated topic, I would be happy to provide more insight
YES finally SOMEONE SPEAKS THE TRUTH
Jokes aside the end was really good
ITS WIGS, IT'S OUR WIGS TAHT ARE THE DOWNFALL.
Yeah, I see you guys. You're all working very hard, keep up the good work.
@@LessonsWithLindyINSTEAD WE HAVE THOSE TRIPLET FEEL AND C-A-G-E-D ASS HAIR CUTS, THAT'S WHY
Lindy, you’re so cool! Thanks for being fun and inspirational.
Re: Out dB’ing Krakatoa…word on the street is that Marshall, Fender, HiWatt and Celestion formed a top secret JV (aka Joint Venture) and are working to produce an amp and cab for a guitarist (TBD) that will out dB the legendary volcano.
You say you require proof?!😮
Do you remember the “shortage of valves/vacuum tubes a few years ago? This JV was the reason why. They bought up most of the then available valves/tubes for the monster amp head that will power the Celestion/Fender speaker cab of Max dB.
Haha 😂 I was so worried this would be another modern music rant and it was a great surprise
Great job, Lindy
Thanks for this. Best of YT.
keep creating
Hmm the last time I asked someone out her laugh was 315 so little did I know I cracked the karakatoa record
Have you...have you DONE IT?!?! Legend, you are
@@LessonsWithLindy I am the man for all the wrong reasons
In the immortal words of Bob Seger,
"Just take those old records off the shelf
I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself
Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n' roll"
David Xaviel. The reason music sucks is...by design, all music is supposed to come from England and the English stopped caring. True story. Bob Dylan stated in a magazine interview in 2015, the 'city fathers' didn't like rock n roll so they busted it up with payola scandals. Afterwards, all music was either English beat pop or rhythmic music. Eventually, Americans caught on that, if you want to make rock music in this country - it's extremely difficult. The West Coast scenes in the 60s were mostly underground scenes, not played on the radio. They were motivated by anti-Vietnam sentiment, political movements, culture, but also the experimental nature of music because it was still new, in terms of recorded music (if it was not new, they had no way of knowing). Now you know, a lot of it - is not new. CCR was a big exception to that, often don't get enough credit for reviving rock music when there were people who thought rock n roll was dead in the late 60s. In the 80s, it was mostly the glam metal scene in West Hollywood, then the grunge scene in Seattle in the 90s. It takes a lot of dedicated musicians who want to live the lifestyle, not just cash in with a few hits from the garage on an internet platform. So, part of this problem was, the lack of record stores, like Tower Records, where people went to talk about music as a subculture or community. It became an exercise in derangement of writing lyrics and then trying to find a sound to fit the lyrics as well as a singer. And the reality that, the words you're writing aren't really new. On top of this, the record labels, for the most part, abandoned the idea of investing money in album-oriented bands and musicians. They wanted garden variety pop music and singles. The cost of recording music was too high, mainly because of the shift towards downloadable music and streaming. At this point, you can simply make music with A.I. - and I'm inclined to think that, record labels won't care if they can pump out singles with A.I. that are adequate for commercials and jingles. Eventually, those songs might catch on with unsuspecting people who don't know the song is A.I.
Jeez I let my guard down over some silly jokes and you kick me right in the existentialism
ok but i love volcanos
@@LessonsWithLindy and cats
Lindy, thanks for the laughs!😂
It’s not just that all new music is in 4/4 but also no one attempts to add any swing to the groove. Early Hip Hop had grooves with swing because they were sampling old 70s grooves. New hip hop tries to add variation by adding weird combinations of high hat trills in every conceivable combination, but it still all sounds the same and flat because there is no swing.
I'm now having a mid-musician crisis bc I wasn't aware of the Krakatonian crisis! I need to rethink my music ...
Ooooooo that last note just before the video ended! Chills down my spine with how profound it is 😭🩵
i love artists, please keep going
Glad I listened to the end 😅
some encouragement baked into this lil account for ya
Wow the end of this is very inspiring
She's wise beyond her years!
Omg! SNARK -> SNARKY -> SARCASM -> EARGASM -> THE EARTH IS FLAT!! It all makes so much sense now!
I'M GLAD TO HAVE EDUCATED YOU
Not necessarily for music, but for creativity and my own life narratives in general. I know they've told me they've given me that "permission", but hearing that my desire to continue to grow and expand my creative/personal interests/pursuits as I define them rather than how anyone else does or says I should do, given validation by someone completely detached, means a lot. Thank you.
Proofreading another lost art also.
The only thing more annoying that new music is knowing you don't have the skills to create songs as good as new music. Yes, it's more simplistic and some of it gets boring after awhile, but it's all relative. Complexity doesn't automatically mean good. I've got shelves of old records that attest to that. Whatever speaks to you is good even if it's a one chord song. If you don't like today's music then go make some so what you like is out there. Now I'm jonesing to find a really sarcastic song with as few pitch variations as possible.
She's hot for Harry Patch but doesn't want to admit it and doesn't know he's been dead since 1974. Quincy Jones is about the best she can do now, He's 91.
Ummm. Two words “Klick Tracks” (yes I misspelled that on purpose)
Da Nial ain't just a river
Is this a shot Rick?? Very informative video regardless
I just hope that you stay in touch with your creativity, regardless of what other people are shouting about online.
@@LessonsWithLindy I will. Thank you :)
I'm sure you will make a video about the modes of the unitonic scale ;-)
That's funny because those are not the reasons why today's music sucks. It most certainly sucks, but not for those reasons, so, yeah, you're right 😂 (OK, seriously, though: I mean, I'd like to point out that there might be a reason why many younger (!) people, too discover music from the 60s etc. and actually agree (!) it's better than today's and that I've been listening to the Beatles as an older Millennial in my teen years while my classsmates listened to Britney Spears etc. and, honestly, is there anything more inappropriate than mocking younger people (I mean, as if mocking old people wasn't already bad enough, but this is, well, very revealing, actually' 😄) for that sort of thing rather than taking it as evidence that those who say it might have a point?) But, no, one shouldn't generalize, of course and, and, being a singer-songwriter myself, I'd actually be pretty insane to act like there coouldn't possibly any good music anymore; I think Taylor Swift is being disgustingly overhyped, but I love Lana Del Rey, for example, so, no, no resentments against contemporary (nor against female for that matter, don't anyone even...!) artists per se (Just saying those who truly stand out seem to have become fewer, but that, too, could change again, see what happened in the early 90s...)
Omg 😂 unitonic sound
Smartly written.
i am smartly
I do like the "one note samba" though.
same
Wow you made this only a few days before Etna
Not so fast, miss Lindy! Coz I am a living guitar god from the 60s. No decent use for my abnormal powers nowadays so the Whole Thang is forcing me to go Python++.
I am guilty of the occasional unitonic scale in a long jam...
Worked for Neil Young so let's not knock it.
modern predictions say this is where all music is heading, so you're well ahead of the curve
Algo commentssss on one pitch with flamboyant wiggy!!
WIGGLY SARCASM PITCH IS RUINING US
Lol! This is hilarious!!
Gee. I don't know what to think now. Maybe this music I've been working on for the past 45 years
Feels incomplete?

[#2 - no sarcasm - is hella poisonous to outcomes]
Brilliant observations. Saliently enjoyably and tactfully delivered.
The kids need to start energizing interesting things, rather than softening technique-ifying and either urbanizing or ruralizing everything to a metronome. - I'd add. Their media-traumatized reactive 'lofi' pseudo-complacent gimmick-led affects are soooo cool.
i watched some footage of Ben Shepherd today - from back in the day - and i thought : antidote!!!
Lust, Spirit, Energy!!! {honest catharsis! or in the least - demo of Muse -icianship. NOT affect and effected intimidation preapologia for being basic & cool with everyone and or thing per local imitations, alone.]
The effeminate [NOT to be confused with The Feminine] is NOT helping. Nor are their excuses and bad categorizations of generational differences.
The false apology driven softness and [again false] friendliness - to cheap dark and fake moody norms are NOT gettin it done.
Beato and Lindy = are right.
This is so funny but I 100% unironically agree with the bit about the wigs. At the very least, bring back big hair.
How about:
1) No harmonies
2) Vapid non-thought-provoking lyrics
3) Ambiguous, transitory background musicians not involved in the songwriting, not to mention real drummers replaced by drum machines droning out the same, simplistic beat
4) Lack of vocal skills masked by auto-tune, pitch correction and computer effects
5) Rampant plagiarism and laziness in the form of "sampling" and downright musical fraud
Nah. Her 5 reasons make more sense ¯\_(°°)_/¯
for a lot of these it’s just how it’s always been man
I’m going bald, I think a flamboyant wig might just give me that little extra I need to push me to the top! I’m thinking David Lee Roth in the early days.🤔 What do you think? I’m only 64.

@@DarrellW_UK The whole thing is satire; I just hope we can all stay in touch with our creativity and put good things into the world
@@LessonsWithLindy I have played guitar for years and have always played other people’s songs, a few years ago started doing my own thing forgetting the rules and just noodling but recording it. It’s been fun and it kinda renewed my interest. I can’t sing (any old note will do) so I mostly play mood music with dreamy FX and loops but recently I came across some AI ideas, and was a bit mind blown by what it could do. I decided that perhaps it wasn’t for me after a few tryouts and am back to noodling where my mood takes me.
@@DarrellW_UK I'm really glad you've got a process you feel comfortable with. It's always good to try things like AI, and see if it connects with your creativity. For some of us it will, for others it won't, and both are fine. Keep creating!

And what happened to bridges? just verses and copy/paste/copy/paste choruses (chori?) And what about proper endings instead of just abrupt stops. Get off my lawn you copy/pasting autotuned midi quantizers. :D

If you think todays music sucks then your stuck in the past 😂
If you think today's music doesn't suck then you're probably too young to know any better how monotonous and boring and unmusical todays music is and can't appreciate the past.
@@tconnolly9820 sorry i've obviously triggered you 🤣
@@matt926uk1 No, it's just that we are all feeling sorry for you and for what you are going to continue to accept as "good enough" when it's becoming increasingly unmusical, unoriginal, manufactured, artificial and just bland. And it's just getting worse every year
