The highlight of the comp for me will always be Simple predicting the gas explosion to end off that one hack.

1:33 This is an absolute all-time Simpleflips moment. The random teleport, followed by the meltdown when he realized there was a RED COIN in the secret teleport area, is A++ scriptwriting.
My personal favorite moment of this comp is in the video at 1:36 The astronomical chance that anyone would come across that warp in the first place alone is insane. Moments where Simple randomly stumbles into the most obscure thing in the world gets me every time.
It felt like it was going to lead to a subscribe room
It was so stupid and no one expected it lmao
I haven’t played the hack or seen the full VOD, but I suspect it was a 2-way warp that was only meant to be found from the other side and Simple somehow discovered it by accident to go through it the wrong way
And then theres more red coins on the other side bro its sk goddamn funny

We'll never know if Ethan is waking up until we know no more. I don't think we can continue existing with Ethan's mind busy with the troubles of the waking world. But who knows? Maybe we'll continue on through his imagination in his future dreams and creative endeavors. Although if I'm being honest, I'm not sure which fate would be kinder...

Seeing Spaghetti napper-the M&L Dream Team inspired hack-somehow take second place is a big W. Hearing those Super Mario Brothers Cartoon voices again was such a nostalgia trip.
Edit: Also real hap the one to top it was the very Omori esque hack.
Basically every competition leads to advancements in romhacking design, but I really feel like here was advancements in humor too. A lot of these hacks were really funny and had clever writing. It could also be Simple corrupting our sense of humor.
Elise was so earnestly fantastic that I can't be anything less than ecstatic at its win

I wanna see a romhack rom completely dedicated to some random person instead of simple. Like, with no prior reason, just specifically address the player as "Luthor" for absolutely no reason, clearly playing as mario, made for simpleflips, but for the 3 or so viewers named Luthor, what an experience

it feels like in each comp, the bar gets raised higher and higher as people unlock more dark magic with the game's engine
Elise remains one of the most surreal things I've ever seen, I'd expect that kind of graphics and game play from a steam game

Tomorrow is the day im going to watch the Mario movie with my parents. I noticed some romhacks didnt make it in the comedian video because he didnt posted it which is a missing episode, not my fault this time. About the top 10 i noticed there are lots of changes, idk if you are trolling or you rigged including the disqualified cause 5 of 10 i would replace of something else which there is a Ethan reference. Im glad you put Dreamscape64 as valid because of "Lost in time arc" where its the only one i couldnt rank since i was travelling so thank you for that the comedian
PS: I was about to complain "Where is Ethan reference in this" but them after Elise won its canon to the lore that nightmare did something to the comedian and Ethan getting in coma. You are luck to put one single valid reference as canon
Easily the highlight of the channel if you ask me. Seeing how people realize their creative ideas in unimaginable ways is always a joy. And I especially appreciate the work that went into editing. Hella excited for the future of Rom hack competitions!
well… that was an emotional journey. As an insomniac i found the premise of the comp to be fascinating… here’s to the dreams comp and the future comps yet to come
Thank you for organizing these competitions and everyone behind the scenes as well! Its such a great opportunity for new romhack creators and the results are honestly astounding. So many amazing hacks come out of this!
I love these romhacking competitions because it really inspires a lot of creativity, and also it’s great content to watch simple play these
Love the videos, wish it showed more of the gameplay elements though. Like at 1:00 a viewer barely knows what he's struggling with unless they've seen the full video, and it only shows a couple of his attempts to get up there while he's talking, and doesn't show when he makes it. Great editing for someone who is only interested in Simple's funny commentary though.
I really should try my hand at this, I have so many ideas for hacks but I'm not great at Mario 64, so they may not be shmoove oriented

You don't have to be able to schmoove to make a good romhack, just a lot of creativity. The romhacking community is great and I'm sure they'll be able to help you out a ton.
The end slate blurb "I'm getting out of bed." Is a reference to my favorite part of this competition. The part where Simple says "I'm going to bed." Iconic.

It's honestly incredible how different each hack was and each pushing boundaries in a different way. The level of innovation by all of the creators will never cease to amaze me. Good job everyone! These streams were so much fun. Seeing these hacks a few months later, I feel oddly nostalgic about many of them.
What an awesome theme too, really allowed for crazy cool environments
participation/effort prize is such a good idea to get ppl interested in learning tools for developing hacks and some of those participants might get hooked enough to aim for top10.
