    Slight negative-it takes 1.3 watts of vampire power draw when off and plugged in. That's not much but if you aren't going to use it for a while, you may want to unplug it. Or, put it on a power strip that you turn off.

    The Vorando 660 is the best alternative to getting a ceiling fan. I have it pointed at the center of the ceiling from the corner of the room and feel a breeze on the other side...and it's not even on the highest setting. Everything this man says about the fan is spot on. Very thorough description of what to expect. Best purchase I've ever made.

    These are excellent. They throw air so far and have such high static pressure compared to normal fans. I run one in my facing out of my bedroom (I have an ac inverter in there) and it blows all the cool air all over the up stairs lounge and drops the temp dramatically.

    I blindly bought this today since I REALLY needed a new ac or fan. Hurt the pockets a little bit for $130 since it has alexa, but my lord this thing in some regards is better than an ac. Granted it won't get freezing like a normal ac would, but who needs that when you are comfortable going to sleep. Also really grateful to have found an American made one as well

    I own 4 Vornado air circulators all about 15 years old. They work as well as the day of purchase. The housing is basically the same as yours. The difference is the finish (not glossy) and mine have one variable speed button. In the early summer and late fall (I'm in North Jersey) one of these is all you need in the room. When the A/C eventually is on I still use the Vornado enabling me to keep the A/C set to low. The quality and performance are unmatched. Everything you said in your video is spot on!

      SeltzerGal I'd be interested in hearing from you and/or others on the best placement for the Vornado. It seems to me that on the floor pointing up works well in order to blow cool air up through the room.

    • @SeltzerGal
      @SeltzerGal 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      phototristan Sorry for the delayed response. I'm in agreement with you. The large model, like the one in your video, works best from the floor position facing upwards. Mine are turned to about a 45 degree angle. The small model, which is roughly 10" in diameter, seems to work best from an elevated position. Again, you can't go wrong purchasing a Vornado air circulator. Don't be in your home without one ; )

    I have the 633, they do work as advertised, its like feeling a gentle breeze all around you at the beach, mine tilted heavily upwards towards a corner of the room. With a side window open it helps scoop cool air in. I would buy another one and even considering this model to upgrade.

    Thank you for that great full spectrum review. I have been trying to decide whether to get this fan or not, much like you I have been doing a lot of research and The 660 and the Seville seem to be the top for both whole room air circulation and whole room tower oscillator/fan. my daughter was giving me a hard time when I decided on the 660 because of both it's size and lack of oscillation. So we went with the Seville and although I think it is the best tower fan I have experienced, it is apparent we need a bit more air movement than that. So, thanks to your great review I will be picking one up in short order.

    • @maxskywalkr
      @maxskywalkr 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So you've found that vornado is better? I've also been deciding between those two fans. I just want one that makes less noise and cools the entire room down better without pointing it at me

    • @jeanlanning9222
      @jeanlanning9222 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Max Ulloa
      Hi Max, yes, I did find it cooled very well, especially for its size. But on the noise, I have to say not the quietest fan. Low & med are actually quite nice, but when you bump it up to high it makes itself known. That being said, I have also had louder fans. But if it is a room you are looking to cool, it will do the job quite well. I even put it at the end of the hallway last evening, about 13' with 2 bedrooms at the end of that anout 12x12 ea and both bedrooms were greatly cooled throughout the night. So it does the job. But if quiet is more important, you'll probably want to go with the Dyson or the Rowenta. Very quiet or the Turbo Silence Pedestal Fan. They are more the oscillating type fan & I have not used them myself, but I have ben told they are very quiet.

    My daughter has two 640 and 660. She bought me the 660 for Xmas. I bought another one. Now I have two 660. I so love them. I've had them running all year round on low and on medium. Rarely do I need the high setting, it is powerful. Quite quiet as well. I have the black from Amazon. You can even unscrew the screws and dust them inside once a year. I've cleaned both of mine 3x so far. I guess the company knows in comparison to Dyson and others, Vornado has once again since summer 2022 jacked up their price from $149 Canadian to $179. Crazy how prices will escalate on anything electronic now.

    Would you recommend this fan to cool a room with alot of electronics? Would put an AC unit but can't due to window placement

    Some said Vornado used a lot of watts. Then I read it does not use that much. Have you any information on the watt economy vs. an ordinary fan?

    • @phototristan
      @phototristan  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bill Calhoun I haven't heard that but doubt it uses more power than another fan, yet it works so much better.

    hi. is it okay to put a boxed old fan on window (about 4 feet up from the ground) and then put a vornado on the floor? or will it negate the effect of the vornado?

    THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD. I JUST GOT ONE TODAY AND I HAVE IT ON NOW. I AM IN A VERY BIG BEDROOM. THE TEMPS HERE IS 35C WHICH IS 95F. VERY HOT,. I HAVE THICK CURTAINS ALL AROUND MY WINDOWS IN MY BEDROOM SO NOT MUCH AIR GETS IN HERE EITHER. I AM STILL PRETTY HOT. EVEN WITH THE VORNADO ON, ON FULL SPEED. I TESTED IT OUT COMPARED TO MY OLDER ORDINARY FAN WHICH IS A BIG TALL PEDISTAL FAN WHICH ISNT ALL THAT GOOD NO MORE AND THE VORNADA IS MORE POWERFUL THAN THAT. I THINK IN THIS HEAT I NEED AN AIR CONDITIONER GOING BUT I DONT HAVE ONE IN THE BEDROOM.
    WHEN I PLAY THE PIANO LATER I WILL PUT MY VORNADAO UP CLOSE TO ME AND FACING ME TO GET BETTER RESULTS.

    Hi, does this cool the room even if there is no A/C in the room? What if it's 95 degrees inside the room? Or, does it merely circulate the hot air?

    I'm a little skeptical when it comes to stuff like these. Honestly, can you blame me? Does this really work? I have a medium sized room and if this little device (for $100) really works I wouldn't mind paying the premium price. I want it mostly so I can feel that "breeze" people talk about. I'm thinking of using it with the windows closed. I'm curious though, you said aim it at the opened window--from how far? From the opposite side of the room? Wouldn't that just push the air out rather than circulate it? Like I said... I'm skeptical.

    • @grimr34p
      @grimr34p 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @kermitthefrog3685

    I bought one and it was ..ok. The Vornados are quite expensive for their size but what really turned me off is the noise. When you put this thing on High mine was loud as hell. I had a very powerful 30" fan which blew better and wasn't nearly as loud. The main advantage for the vornado is its size.
