Phillip Wood I just graduated from BMT. My MTI’s informed us of the past sexual misconduct and told us that a lot of changes had occurred. Because if this, a trainee is NEVER alone, not even if speaking to an MTI with the flight literally 5 feet away. I never felt threatened during my time at Lackland. It completely comes down to the MTI and the flights willingness to report any inappropriate behavior.
Often, if recruits reported any kind of abuse, then the TI's got revenge, by throwing an "ARMADILLO", on the whole flight! This was in 1982! I hope things are better now!
13Jun62. Life was different when I started basic. If women want to join the military, I have no problem. Just segregate them to another part of any military training base and have them interact at every level with veteran female enlisted and officers. If needed, put up a barbed wife fence and put armed guards around the gate/s and fence. Yeah, draconian but probably needed.
How about we as men stop messing around with female recruits. This wasn’t the fault of the trainees. This is on the male drill instructor’s that take advantage of the power they have. Keep your dick to yourself until you’re assigned to a squadron. And even then, don’t mess with folks in your chain of command.
Oh ok...well dang. Isn't this the main reason they are separated in boot camp? Separate them I guess, but people really should be able to be professional and act civilized in the "work" place.
It’s more complicated than it sounds.. unfortunately they just have to trust that they give campaign hats to the right individuals. They’re not all bad people.
@@GravisTKD That's not what separating means you fucking moron. Separating reduces the chances of the women falling victim to a predator. Don't lump all men into this shit.
I will say it to the people saying all female this all female that. You shouldn't have to males should conduct themselves correctly. I had females in my army boot camp cycle, they had their own base and didn't make a difference on anything. If males can conduct themselves correctly we wouldn't have any issues.
Make it simple & straight forward. With all due respect, to prevent sexual misconduct or harassment from happening again, banned female trainees from enlisting. Its that simple.
Separate areas all female TIs no male contact. This is what happens when you mix the sexes in some well meaning effort at social engineering the military. USAF 1969
A friend of mine who did his AIT at Ft Lee Virginia told me that there was a few Drill Sergeants that were involved in having sex with females in their platoon off base
They sure didn't care when I was in. Other trainees were being sexually assaulted and then it happened to me and I decided to say something. You know what I was told by the top guy? That if I wanted to pursue this any further, I'd lose my career. I didn't and as I walked out, him and the creep snickered. Needless to say, no other women ever came forward either, we just endured. These weren't such a problem when females were trained by females, and the men were trained by men, and kept separate from one another. I didn't get close to a woman until after I graduated.
@@aishanicholee that the have even relaxed things since than...no making the dayroom walls sweat or smoke sessions anymore...tgey cannot even yell at you all anymore
Absolute bullshit, I am sure the illegal activity is going and the suspects are guilty but the real problem lies with certain individuals and groups within and outside of the US military complex continually pushing an agenda of integration of the sexes and their roles in combat and training. This is a result of being hellbent on placing women and men as equals in terms of soldiering. Why is it that this wasn’t a huge issue during the past century and all of the major wars fought during it. At least from my perspective it has now become huge issue but that may be as a result of the exposure it has received only now.
That's why in the military, men and women shouldn't have access to one another so easily. This is fucking disgusting your duty is to protect and uphold our country.... You didn't sign up for fuckin' around and tarnishing the american flag.

I obviously haven't met EVERYONE in the Airforce, but I know a few from the Security Forces and THEY were either Meglomainacts, Perverted or both. It seems that each branch of the service has it own specific faults.
This is a reason that having gender segregated training was a good idea. But then the politicians and mothers of America got involved. Males and females should serve separately, not so much for the issues of sexual assault so much as because of distinct differences between the sexes. While in support units this does not matter as much, it matters a lot in combat arms. Women just can't physically do some of the things that men can do (and vice versa, I have yet to meet a male that went through vaginal birth). I believe that females can serve in combat arms, but they need to be in their own units that set SOP/TPP that make sense for females (as opposed to males). This probably involves different load distributions, living standards, etc.

No co ed lunch, no co ed pt,,,Keep females on one end and males on another end of the training side of the base Comoletley. They should never even See each other until after graduation. If you cant figure this out, you're not fit to command a military training base, which means we have a lot of sub standard training supervision going on. Anyone who's been involved in the military and has actually had a bit of experience should get it. The military should be about winning wars, not PC. This country is so wrapped up in PC red tape it takes 6 days to do 6 hours of anything anymore, and its gotta be done 6 different ways to fit the criteria of 6 different big wigs who support 6 different political views. It takes a special individual to train mixed gender platoons. There is too much of a tendency to "make a statement" during your assignment period instead of DOING YOUR JOB. Even in they gym, I do my part and actually do it better than the training staff. You are an example, not a god. As an instructor, you do everything by example. I’m honestly not even sure how this could’ve happened since you’re not allowed to be in a room alone with an MTI

My fellow boot, had physical relations with a Female major at the clinic for the entire time. Nope...there's enough men for the male flights and women TIs for the females.
Been going on for decades. In the 90's a guys brother i worked with did test result briefings with navy intake females... For a few points the whamen would crawl under the desk for a few minutes. This guy did this for years... Raw Dawg i believe was his side show name.
How to fix the issue is segregate the females completely away from the males period... These women make complaints simply because they don't want to be treated same as males they want to be treated special... For example lower standards for females in PT even further than they already are... From their male counterparts.... it's the same thing that happened at West point females wanted in simply to get attention but treated equal as the males they quit.... I'm sorry but if a female joins in the male dominated world then they should be EXPECTED TO PERFORM AS A MALE WOULD... AND BE EXPECTED TO BE SENT TO THE FRONT LINES... otherwise they can shut up the crying playing victim card...
My buddy was an MP in the army. He said that in his base there was sex scandals all the time. This isn’t anything new. And don’t shame the Air Force just because of their funding or something
The problem was never between trainees. Their lives are run so minute to minute that they don't really have time to misbehave. The problem was MTIs abusing their power. Having males and females together in training is not bad because we're going to fight side by side anyway, might as well get used to it. That said, having male MTIs in charge of female flights, or female MTIs in charge of male flights seems like a recipe for disaster to me.
bill bell this happened in 2012 and I went through in 2015. We had 3 sarc briefings in the first week talking about this. We weren’t aloud to talk to the MTIs without another recruit right next to us even if we were in the bays.

Don't matter if a who it is. All personel in the military at the end serve a purpose to get a mission done. Point period. The mission has to get done! Whether you like it or not. Regardless if you are a male or female and puts who in harms way. The main thing is that all of us when we are in harms way will have each others backs, never to leave anyone alone. Buddy System. No Airman left behind. I do agree no Trans should serve. When I was in Basic we saw a trans and it through everything apart
I don’t even think transgenders can be in the military. 🤔 I may be wrong though 🤷🏽♀️ maybe a law was passed or something.
What. No weekend safety briefings for them. Like lower enlistment. A shame this unit lost the there way. Briefings should go down and up the chain of command.

@Ivan Terrible I definitely believe that.
I had a female TI back in 04 and during the summer in Texas it gets hotter than hell, that said we had the AC brake down so this woman decided we could all remove our BDU blouses. Now not to sound like an ass but she wasn’t an ugly woman by any stretch and nature had endowed her very well. Once she was down to just her black t-shirt that was all that my flight was paying attention to and to this day I couldn’t tell you what her briefing was about. Point is females should instruct females and males should instruct males, so as to remove as much temptation as possible.
Staff Sergeant Manhart…instructing proper push-up form. She got in a bit of trouble for her activities outside of the AF.
@@publicuser2534 hahaha yes she did, that issue flew off the shelves of every air force base
@@limabravo6065 😂. I remember a guy from my training flight, 323 TRS, that called me and told me to look her up after the story blew up. Made sense to me why she did. She looked good in BDU pants and a black undershirt. Her husband at the time was an instructor over at the Security Forces tech school. He went hard on the guys that were in her flight. There were quite a few of us that crossed the street to the 343rd. Did you have her as an MTI?
@@publicuser2534 no but I did have her husband as an instructor and boy howdy if you mentioned her uhhhh... exploits I guess

Commanders are responsible for everything their subordinates do or fail to do.
On a real note. I should’ve joined the air force instead of the Army.. Who’s with me
I have come across a lot of veterans that have said the same thing…if only. Many people dont realize, the AF has a high benchmark for passing the ASVAB. If folks dont, they are pointed in the direction of the Army recruiter. Im sure it is the same thing now for Space Force. They need people that score off the charts.
After reading n looking at these vids i wouldn't spit in a marines face let alone let my daughter or son join a group that treats its members like that what a disgrace to the u.s military
When I served it was men with men, women with women.
So what is your point.
@@feliceagarcia4498 dont have mixed gender units
How about we as men stop messing around with female recruits. This wasn’t the fault of the trainees. This is on the male drill instructor’s that take advantage of the power they have. Keep your dick to yourself until you’re assigned to a squadron. And even then, don’t mess with folks in your chain of command.

Oh ok...well dang. Isn't this the main reason they are separated in boot camp? Separate them I guess, but people really should be able to be professional and act civilized in the "work" place.
Indeed. Separation is sort of admitting that men in authority can't be expected to control themselves. That is *not* the message we should be sending.
It’s more complicated than it sounds.. unfortunately they just have to trust that they give campaign hats to the right individuals. They’re not all bad people.
And people should also be able to go to sleep with their front door wide open.
@@GravisTKD That's not what separating means you fucking moron. Separating reduces the chances of the women falling victim to a predator. Don't lump all men into this shit.
That’s because chairforce get all the damn super models
I will say it to the people saying all female this all female that. You shouldn't have to males should conduct themselves correctly. I had females in my army boot camp cycle, they had their own base and didn't make a difference on anything. If males can conduct themselves correctly we wouldn't have any issues.

Make it simple & straight forward. With all due respect, to prevent sexual misconduct or harassment from happening again, banned female trainees from enlisting. Its that simple.
Separate areas all female TIs no male contact. This is what happens when you mix the sexes in some well meaning effort at social engineering the military. USAF 1969
This was going on since 2010 most likely earlier. Funny how they do a story about it years later
Kari, chambers,
Who cares! Proves one thing. That we, are weak.

It is Ironic. Recruiters tell you that if you have tried "X 10 years ago, you are disqualified. lol
I felt like I got my victory when I was honored Honor Graduate and got to turn and smile and gloat at the creep on the way to get my award. Best feeling ever!
When I came through basic it was SSGT Deraas and some others doing shit like this. Man you think they would learn from their mistakes but apparently things never change.
When I went through basic a cadet told a female "yeah I know you want me but you can't have me" an walked off an the instructor didnt do anything. An tech school my instructor was messing with a female in my class while he was married with a child.
At sheppard?
These weren't such a problem when females were trained by females, and the men were trained by men, and kept separate from one another. I didn't get close to a woman until after I graduated.

They could just go back to the way it should be with male recruits trained by male MTI's and female recruits trained by female MTI's.
This is disturbing...
I feel bad for post scandal mti’s I can’t imagine the micro management that took place following 2012.
That's why in the military, men and women shouldn't have access to one another so easily. This is fucking disgusting your duty is to protect and uphold our country.... You didn't sign up for fuckin' around and tarnishing the american flag.
Its sad cause I am sure there a great MTI's but the bad apples stink up the whole basket as they say , but yeh I hope justice was served and there are no more issues but then again can evil really be fully erased in this world?
Only 10... amateurs.
What do you think happens when you mix physically fit, employed young men & women???
Hormones are raging full blown.
Political correctness keeps the only effective solution to this problem from being implemented-gender segregated basic training.
That's why I like the Marine corps they should have female instructors for female recruits, and male instructors for male recruits
It starts with the Leadership.
I went through the 331 TRS IN 2001. And the men trained the men and the women trained the women. With exception to my sister flight. Who had a male TI. With a female training TI in tow. I had nothing wrong to say about it at all. Other then my TI scared the fuck out of me.
I obviously haven't met EVERYONE in the Airforce, but I know a few from the Security Forces and THEY were either Meglomainacts, Perverted or both. It seems that each branch of the service has it own specific faults.
This is old news. Why is this just now getting publicity
Zero tolerance.
As long as its consential. Can we please move on. !!
Creepy 😨
I just graduated from there and this is news to me..
Green Rusty how long ago did you graduate?
Yeah , I graduated May 2019 and we found out about this while we were in. This was in 2012 though , and they fired all the staff and replaced them all since then

American armed services always make me think of the starship troopers film.
Most of the MTIs work so hard, they work on holidays and give it their all. It sucks that a couple shit heads make all of them look bad.
Typical AF officer response. You don’t run anything, your chiefs run it. All you do is have a secretary do everything for you. AF basic is a joke anyways, you give all the trainees the power.
What can the Col. ? Learn from the past generations that knew what the military was and who and how to train why and for what and stop ignoring science.. Clinton and McPeak were shitty for the Air Force, the Bush 2 era actually helped begin fixing it for real for the first time in decades,, I hope it can continue for the sake of the Airmen and the country.
Yeah put male and female together and see what happen
:35 Walker was sentenced in 2012. Two yeas later he committed suicide by hanging himself in his cell.
In my USMC boot camp (1983), there wasn't any of the insults, snapping fingers like a a dog, etc.

Kailah Ware not at all...I’ve been AF for almost 3 years now and I can say that the very large majority of MTIs want to lead and instruct to the best of their abilities. Unfortunately things like this happen in every branch but even back when I went through BMT they had a ton of procedures to make sure things like this don’t happen. I’m honestly not even sure how this could’ve happened since you’re not allowed to be in a room alone with an MTI
Men train men. Women train women.
They started the "co-ed" TI in the 70s when I went through boot camp. It was wrong to the Nth degree! I could see it effecting the troops.
I really don’t think these women complained about being raped because they didn’t want to have to do the same amount of pushups as men
My buddy was an MP in the army. He said that in his base there was sex scandals all the time. This isn’t anything new. And don’t shame the Air Force just because of their funding or something
I was in basic during this time
Sure, so believable.
And is it a good idea to have opposite sexes training together???????
The problem was never between trainees. Their lives are run so minute to minute that they don't really have time to misbehave. The problem was MTIs abusing their power. Having males and females together in training is not bad because we're going to fight side by side anyway, might as well get used to it. That said, having male MTIs in charge of female flights, or female MTIs in charge of male flights seems like a recipe for disaster to me.
