This si why South Korea, Japan and the Philippines are spending more on their militaries in the past 2 years preparing to assist Taiwan while the USA sits it out and just provides the equipment and intelligence like they are doing to Ukraine, The USA has no stomach for a direct confrontation with China or Russia, The USA basically chickened out and Russia and China have called their bluff of a military clash.

Chinese fishing vessels have long been built for dual use, with each ship able to transport one company of infantry with their equipment.

First all antiship mines and coastal defence is neutralised by air and naval forces, then only civilian ferries move in.

Many of those ferries and other transport vessels won't even make it a few miles away from their staging points. A few will be really lucky to even reach the halfway mark.

The subject line to this video is very important but the actual content is worthless I don't see how any viewer who doesn't know what a RO/RO ferry is, or why it's important and how the PLAN could use it.
Simply put, a RO/RO transport ship can load and unload cargo without port facilities like cranes. The ship is built with ramps that enable vehicles to simply drive on and off. Ferries can be considered to have this capability already, but vehicles can roll on or off only at specialized ports and docks with facilities to accommodate the ramps and vehicles. But China has a special need beyond simply RO/RO. The PLAN only has a couple ships that can support the amphibious landing of vehicles on a beach and is scheduled to have a couple more ships completed by 2027 when Xi wants China to be ready and capable of invading Taiwan.
To augment the PLAN's amphibious transport, special ramps have been welded to some ferries that is supposed to allow unloading amphibious vehicles into the water. There is no information how many ferries have had this jury-rigged ramp, the theory is that this is a quick way to increase transport capacity across the Taiwan Strait.
I don't think too many military experts think use of ferries to transport is a good solution, but if China wants to be in a position to threaten to invade China by 2027, this will likely be a required solution.

There is a big difference between Ukraine and Taiwan and that its size which makes it easier to knock out Taiwan's military facilities, government buildings and ports and airports, It would be a devastating defeat for Taiwan with key facilities taken out within hours. Being such a small island is a big disadvantage and more difficult to defend..

The question which repeatedly comes to mind is why China despite its massive military superiority not already invaded Taiwan. Is one if the reasons that despite years of threats and filibuster combined with ever more threatening military drills around Taiwan have failed to change the public opinion in Taiwan which is increasingly in favor of Taiwan remaining independent as a Democratic State. Also China could not be unmindful of the lessons of the Vietnam War j its neighborhood wherein the determined people of North Vietnam defeated a vastly superior United States of America and the Russia Ukrajne War which is now in its third year. This puts China in a Catch 22 situation. This explains why China's bark is worse than its bite when it comes to the Taiwan issue.
