I wanted to ask if penny loafers could have the same casual effect as boots? Grant Stone has the loden penny loafer that I think could work with casual outfits as well. Can I hear what your take on the penny loafers are?

Just a heads up, Allen Edmonds has Lombard Chelsea Dress boots in dark olive on sale right now. Over $200 off, but just that color. The other Lombards are still full price. I got mine today, man they feel great and look even better. These aren't to be mistaken for the Liverpool Chelsea Dress Boots, the sole on these are better IMO.

I used to think olive green is the most versatile colour for boots. But now I would say it has to be burgundy, with a bit of burnishing on the leather. It goes really well with dark selvedge denim, washed denim, beige chinos, and many more! The thing with leather is that in some rooms it can appear to be lighter and in other places it can appear darker, and I found that burgundy doesn’t take away the presence of the clothing as it blends in well with the surroundings, especially in European cities. And some leather patinas too, which makes the boot to have different tone effects. I still love my olive green boots, although it goes well with trousers and denim, I found it difficult to pair with jackets as it takes over the attention, especially when I shine the toe cap lol

If you’re reading the comments, go with Brown. Brown all day long and don’t ever look back. I’m 43 years old and no boot has ever garnered more compliments and second looks then brown boots. Look for boots with a med to thin soal, stay away from anything clunky and oversized and whatever you do, never by boots without at least I side zipper. Side zippers make your entire life so much easier and by passes the need to tie your laces. If you can get double zippers then you’re truly winning the boot lottery.

I beg to differ. Burgundy like color 8 CXL. Works as a brown boot as it is very similar but doesnt clash with black, gives a gorgeous pop of color with black,

You know that this was an effective video when I can't help but start shopping for my 1st pair of dark green leather boots. I'm convinced. Thanks for the info.

100% true. Discovered this a few years ago and was wondering why I had to find it out on my own.
Mind you, the key word is VERSATILE (Too bad that word is not in the title, although he does say it in the vid). That doesn't mean it can beat out brown or black in every scenario. It just means that it can look good in MORE scenarios than either brown or black.

Great color! I personally prefer brown because it can pair better with green chinos since green boots would look too green with green boots. Grey is another versatile color imo. Thanks!

My favorite most versatile boot hands down has to be my Vibergs in Port Vitello calf. At night it looks black with a bit of brown. In the day it it’s dark brown with a rich deep purple undertone. It works well with any pant color.

I have the Dark Olive matte Captain's and I agree it looks great.... Except you can't wear them with olive chinos. I'd still recommend a brown shade of boot as a person's go to.

Olive maybe if your wardrobe is super muted, but for those of us who prefer navy, tan, and gray, oxblood will rule them all. Nothing pops like oxblood with navy or charcoal. I do not have a minimalist wardrobe, but if I had to go on the run, oxblood calf Carminas wingtip boots or crimson CXL Grant Stone Diesel boot. BUT, thanks for the recommendation for black and charcoal pairings, olive will work great with that, and any earth tone wardrobe.

great video. You showed a pair of Allen Edmonds Landon Cap Toe boots at 5:16 on your video in case you want to link it for the viewers. It's a great boot that I have 2 pairs of.

Might I recommend these two boots:
    1. Grant Stone Diesel Boots Loden Suede
    2. Grant Stone Edward Boot Loden Suede
    Loden color = dark olive

I have a pair of Truman evergreen cheaha. it's not a dark olive, it's a maybe a little lighter than the forest green, but not bright by any means. I feel in love with the color but when ordering had absolutely no idea what to wear whem with, and i have zero fashion sense in general.
however, first day i got them I threw on my everyday pair of jeans which is a lighter wash, and black band tee and I thought it looked great. It soon became my everyday piece of footwear and i felt like it went with everything in my closet.
I also ended up ordering a pair of crimson boots from Truman as well with absolutely no idea how to wear them 😂 but I also wear them with the same jeans and black band tees and they look great. I dont really follow the color wheel, although of course I do stray away from some combinations that i try and can tell i look ridiculous.

I'll get an olive green and a black as my first two pairs of boots then when I have the money. Will probably grab a burgundy or ox blood after though. I love red, and there's no way I can choose just one.
