Seals need a family. Just like dogs, they can easily get attached to humans. And because of the transfer, our favorite seal became heart broken and lonely.
It was greed, the reason he was transported to another aquarium. Being an internet sensation I bet they wanted that for themselves, but didn't account for the many needs this little seal would need. Normally human contact is limited with wild animals unless (like with Mizure) they have health problems from birth and require constant attention plus it's a given they won't be released. It's truly upsetting that his previous home decided to let him go and the other place didn't even try to give him the care and attention he needed.
Mizore is with Ponsuke now in a better place but it genuinely sucks how he was just abused / neglected for a quarter of his life, he deserved so much better
Its sad that he see osaka aquarium staff as his family because they never gave up on him but was forced to move. I blame the higher ups in suits for this decision.

sadly in japan specifically there's quite a culture of politeness - most people on social media thanked the aquarium and did not question the events and even became incredibly defensive. the people that did question otaru's behaviour were harrassed so severely that they had to private their accounts. essentially, until the autopsy report gets released (which may be never) otaru will be able to get away with this and potentially harm more seals with poor resources

He was very smart little seal. And considered himself like a human. He was very, very annoying to divers and zoo keepers. Always interfering into process of cleaning. He was waiting at stuff door and peeking at door hole for hours! Mizore was very smart and warm hearted. He made me smile many times. Yes moving to other small dark tank silently deamed his heart. He also was peaky eater. And very very smart little guy. Pure soul Mizore❤ He went on rainbow.
The keepers did a really amazing job looking after mizore and ma he rest in piece he has really warmed all our hearts.☺ keeper thank you so much for giving mizore a amazing life and keep up the great work on looking after mother nature cutest animals.👍
the thing is though that otaru didn't take care of him - through the blog updates as well as videos taken from his time in otaru it was clear they did not have the resources to care for him and he was confined in a small enclosure with no enrichment. he started exhibiting aimless swimming and not eating later down the line - even if it was a bad molt, it's safe to say mizore was miserable in the conditions he was in.

rip sweet mizore - this is very old news and I've known since the day, but I'm still not over how poorly he was treated in otaru. months of isolation, no enrichment, kept all alone to make him less attached to people despite his connections. every single update he'd get thinner and more miserable - a lot of people say it was zoochosis because he started demonstrating repetitive behaviour and not eating. additionally, to this day there has not been a released autopsy report unlike any of the other cases before, which in turn feels very incriminating. otaru took on a seal they did not have the space or resources for, and he unsurprisingly died from this negligence.
Life and Breath for Mizore. His presence made this World a better place to live in. I am certain, he is enlightening the place he is now with his pure soul. Loads of Love and Cuddles for Mizore.

Mizore was not abandoned by his mother, he was born hypoglycemic and was unable to swim. Once he was healed, he actually went back to live with his mama arare(another seal at osaka) . the seal community is still awaiting mizore’s autopsy as well, as it has not been released however the window of time for otaru aquarium to release it to the public has passed so we will probably never see it.
It’s not about judging …. It’s about animals too feel stressed, pain, sadness just like us. We need to understand and that poor baby seal also feels emptions just like he got transferred from his keepers and got stressed out and died
