What has happened to the Calcutta I lived in and loved? I barely recognised it. It has always been noisy, but this constant level of noise? and the volume of traffic constantly sounding their horns? What has happened to the pavements? Completely occupied by street vendors and stalls. The broad pavements along Chowringhee and in front of the Grand are barely visible. I remember the leisurely walks along Chowringhee and Park Street and the cycle rides down quiet tree lined streets like Camac and Middleton Streets. Not anymore!! It’s become a giant bazaar!! How do pedestrians navigate their way through this obstacle course? I am so lucky and blessed to have spent my youth in the forties and fifties in this vibrant and exciting City. I now weep for the demise of old Calcutta. And they call this progress!!!
Plenty of old Kolkatta residents in Adelaide where I live. You can tell by the spelling of the name that things have changed. Most Indians would run away from India with only the shirt on their backs! It is the same with Kolkatta folk. Hardly any went back.....even for a holiday!
It's so sad to see a beautiful city almost in ruins.
But i still love Calcutta
Hygiene and keeping the city clean should become compulsory.❤
The traffic is as crazy as ever. The never ending honking and beeping was a head clearer though. Really brave Josie to have sampled the Kulfi.♥️♥️
@@johnsequeira6522 yes we were brave had all the street food that Kolkatta had to offer.

Buddy you are panning the camera too fast. It makes the video blurred and my eyes hurt. You should learn to pan slowly.
