- S&S Sansei Technologies is an American ride manufacturer located in Logan, Utah, USA. Today, the company produces a wide range of roller coasters. However, they found their success producing a unique ride using revolutionary technology - the S&S shot tower. The company has continued to innovate, producing air powered launch coasters, 4D free spin rides, and even the brand-new Axis roller coaster. Although, the success of S&S came from one man - a man who was a natural born thrill seeker.

RIP Stan. I always remember seeing an interview in which he said the thing that drove him more than anything was seeing the smiles and laughter of people when they came off his rides.
If not for Stan Checkets, we may not have the shot tower or the air launch coaster
Or even the hydraulic launch coaster! I’m pretty sure it was just an improvement by Intamin to the pneumatic launch system.
I can still see the image of Stan, standing atop the Power Tower at Cedar Point. So happy I got the chance to meet Stan during the Media Day event. Rest in Peace Stan 🙏🏽✝️🎢
So glad to see this back. I personally think this is your best series for a few reasons, and I hope to see more!
Especially Zierer 🥰
Stan was my friend and mentor. I miss him a lot. He gave me my chance to chase my dream and hired me at S&S.
The best series on TH-cam, lowkey
Oh absolutely
Awesome, informative vid as per usual. Can't wait to get on an S&S Axis coaster one day!
The S&S Sky Swat was such an underrated ride. It had a unique sensation of catapulting you into the sky. If only it was as reliable as the Screamin’ Swing I reckon it would’ve waaay more popular.
Only problem was the Sky Swat had uncomfortable restraints.
1:48 damn, didn’t realise he was over 100 😬😂
Hell yeah, thanks for letting me know :)
Awesome video! S&S is still going strong for making drop towers, roller coasters, and new ride models for improvements! I'm also looking forward to see what the future will be for S&S! Sadly that Stan Checketts (the founder of S&S AKA Stan & Sandy) died at the age of 80 on January 2nd, 2022. We will never forget him, especially his ride construction to the amusement industry through out the years. R.I.P Stan Checketts (1941-2022)
Wow, that was such a treat to watch. I did not really know that much about s&s Sansei. They deserve more praise for what they do.
Kind of emotional to watch this. You were a legend, Checketts
13:25 wow didnt know this year was 2002!
Damn man, I cannot say the right years for the life of me...
Great to see this series return
I rode a S&S shot tower last year, it was pretty fun.
RIP Stan Checketts.
S&S aquiring Arrow was such a smart move!
RIP Stan, you were a legend in thrill industry
He really was!
this is the best series please make more of these!
Finally a new “Explained” Video!!! And we need more of these!
Only come across Coaster bot properly the last couple of weeks and loving the factbombing
Awesome to see this series...RIP Stan he really changed this industry
I am so happy to see another “explained” video! I loved this one
When's the next pinata video JT?
@@darthvader5532 I don’t know 😭 Thank you for watching my videos! I went to film a video 2 days ago, and I didn’t end up doing it. I’m thinking very soon hahaha
@@JamesonThomas24 yay!!!
What a great video Harry! Also congrats on 60k subs.
I always enjoy the explained videos. Love learning about the developments and experiments.
It’s been so long since an explained. Thank you!
Nice Hommage to Stan . If iam correct Vekoma is also S&S and that is theire Top coaster division ! Keep it up !
You finally made a video on this topic!
A very nice video, you did a great job, my friend, thank you for
sharing
Another really well made and informative video Harry 🎢🎬😀
S&S's woodie Avalanche at the Wisconsin Dells was one of my favorite coasters. I'd love to see it or something like it make a return, because it was so fast-paced and fun.
Great video. I was lucky enough to ride the Sonic Boom. It was the best drop tower ever. I also rode his Sky Sling when it was in Logan too and it had the new OTSR seats and two of the original horse saddle with seat belts seats. I did the seatbelt seats as I knew it would probably be my only time to do so which has come true. Great tribute to Stan.
One of my favorite videos of yours! ☺️
Thank you that means a lot 😊
Amazing video format, thank you.
Thanks for the kind words!

Screaming swing at Cedar Point is TRULY INCREDIBLE.
R.I.P. Stan Checkettes.
S&S makes me proud to be a Utahn. Their acquisition of arrow developments allows arrow's legacy to live on and they've developed so many wacky and iconic ride types.
Today I learned that S&S stands for Spin and Spinny
With the towers, they also introduced the Double Shot. I do see some people confuse them over Space Shots, but other than their shorter height, the accumulator is injected with a second smaller dose of air immediately after the gondola is shot up which is then transferred into the shot tanks over the air that is being compressed, causing the gondola to shoot to the top a second time.
16:34 The El Loco model looks just like a knex roller coaster 😂
Stan was not the imposter.
Steel Hawg is a very interesting coaster at Indiana Beach. Incredibly smooth ride within a VERY compact layout.
It looks great!
I can’t do spinning so I very much appreciate the drop towers and screaming swings
I love their tower rides
Great video!
Thanks!
Great vid
Their air-launch mostly found on China
No wonder it's rare to see one of them
well that explains the unique track on the 4d free spins, i wonder why they use RMC tracks for it
What’s the coaster at 6:07?
Powder Keg at Silver Dollar City!
@@dialga3056 thx!
You got a lot of dates wrong, sadly, but still, really good.
I said the dates wrong which is even worse, check the closed captions and you'll find the correct ones.
It's such a shame that some of their more innovative creations didn't take off... those Screaming Squirrel rides & the one-off free-flyer model in Sweden look brilliant 👍
Stan Checketts was one-of-a-kind and he leaves an amazing legacy of fun & smiles across the world.... thank you & RIP Stan 🤍
good vid
Great video, can you please do a Premier one ❤️❤️
We hope to cover more manufacturers in the future, including Premier!
@@coasterbot ilysm xx
I honestly believe that Thorpe parks new coaster is gonna be an ss axis. Look at the layout and the transitions. The first drop alone could not be a one eighty twist it could be a drop designed for the axis. I am convinced
RIP Stan.C
Powder keg at Silver Dollar City in Branson Mo!
Make a HWN/Trimless Voyage Explained!
Rip Stan🙏🏽
can u do roller coaster pictures cameras explain
Never really liked the shot tower experience but after riding one at Motiongate in Dubai a few days ago I think I can never ride one again. First ride brilliant, second was the scariest moment in my life. When I reached the top there was a loud click and it felt like my restraint let loose. Never been so scared on an attraction and truly thought it was all over. Held the restraint so tight my hands hurt! 😂 Terrifying. I'll stick to coasters from now on 😂
I'm thinking Alton Towers could make their next coaster a 4D coaster, not a worlds first but first in UK lol
Who knows!
@@coasterbot Right! Maybe they could add some unique element to satisfy their words first gimmik...I think it would draw people in, we don't have anything close in the UK, maybe an Axis, like you said who knows! :)
i have that type of idea in planet coaster
Actually, Disneyland Paris's Space Mountain do have a launch and a lift hill since 1995.
Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris has just one launch which is angled upwards, like a lift hill. The launch is a weird flywheel/winch hybrid, it's pretty cool! :)
@@coasterbot no it actually have both a launch and a lift hill.
Between cast members, we call this lift the Supernova due to the theming element placed here in Space Mountain: Mission 2.
Now it's when you going to the Star Wars space cruisader. But it's a lift hill ^^
But yeah the launch mechanism of DLP Space Mountain is kinda cool in many ways.
EDIT: the lift hill is right in the middle of the ride, after the corkscrew and before the horseshoe.
It’s a shame they never continued with their original 4D Coasters
is S&S world wide is a family owned company?
Not anymore, no
@@coasterbot oh ok😎
As of 2024 DoDodonpa has closed due to ongoing injuries
can we see skorckov (sorry was that spelled wrong)
I’m not sure how you’re necessarily defining this… but didn’t California Screamin have a launch and a “lift hill” in one ride? Opening in 2001.
Good question! California Screamin' has two LIM launches, the second of which does effectively act as a lift hill, but isn't a traditional lift hill :)
14:20
Space mountain (DLP)?
yea okay it's a tire lift but still a lift
Paul
maxforce is the best ride at Great America only problem is length
S&S is basicly what happens if you give amusement engeniering people dugs
😂
He dieded? Well that's a big rip..
