Blind Abstract Painting - A Fun Exercise to Loosen up Your Work

- Intention is the enemy of creativity. When we work in a way that precludes intention, we can't help but loosen up. This exercise will help you to let go of plans, ideas, intentions and simply ease into painting intuitively. And when you're done, you'll have multiple lovely, unexpected little paintings :)

When you pulled away the tape things really came alive, you've created six little spectacula paintings. so enjoyed this video thanks for sharing.
Seeing this video I am reminded that I did this exercise about a month ago. I was sort of happy with the result at that time, but kept on going way past 30 minutes, and.... over worked it. Excited to try again with better colors and a 30 minute limit!

Louise, I follow you and whenever I can I watch your videos, with the way you teach I learned not to be scared of painting and through paint on canvas because because I can go over and over until I liked I always loved abstract but so scare of starting it and have no idea how to finish it a millions thanks to you Louise and God bless you because you have a big heart ♥️ I just finish one abstract two weeks ago and I posted in your page Minda

"That swashy thing you always do". I'd like to address those things within my style that I don't like and they keep showing up. I seem to even have at least two, maybe even three, distinct ways of painting (not bragging here, I only like ONE of them) and I never know which mode I'm in until I start painting! Another struggle I can't seem to overcome is that the left side is always much better than the right in terms of composition. I'm going to try this exercise over several days and see what happens, maybe all three of me will "blend" into at least one of the squares, tee hee.

Louis, I just love this technique of playing with colour and the unexpected results you get. I especially love the "reveal" when the tape is removed. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make all of the videos you make. I watch them all, even if I don't comment often. You inspire me so much to continue exploring mixed media work.

Hi! Enjoyed your demonstration. Would like to see several of your art works matted and framed.
Thank you, Louise! I tried this bit with ink, but I love the freeing nature of this process and hope I will have fun and success with acrylics. I have the desire for a while now to mix colors and find palettes that I like, to get better with compositions, and to be loose and expressive in art.
