Nice set up John. You can buy those end kits. I had a set sent out from the city that they wanted me to advertise for them last year but my blade has the Poly skin on it and I didn't want to drill into it. All our snow is just about gone here now and rain for the next three days. I'm ok with that. Hope you get a pile of it soon. Keep well and Merry Christmas to you and yours from Kathy and I.
John I have never seen them end wing out here, great idea. The wing pins on the back side , for me I would have a safety cable attached so they don't disappear without noticing, not because they would fall out, highly unlikely but there's a lot of nuts out there that pull fifth wheel pins and walking off with you wing pins might entertain a screwball for sure :) nice vid 👍👍
The fisher manual says to add a cutting edge when the existing cutting-edge ('trip blade??) Is about half worn. The manual I have even has a line drawing/diagram
Hey John, I've always called the plate that mounts to the trip edge the "cutting edge". I have an 8' HD MM2 on my f350 and i don't have a cutting edge mounted yet either.. Mines a 2011 model and the trip edge has barely worn down at all.. The fisher dealer told me to wait until it wore enough for a cutting edge to protrude past the trip edge by an inch or two., basically same as what you said.. Thought I'd back up your claims. Kyle from Massachusetts
+mustangtech331 Hey thanks for for the comment. I was prepared to put the plate on the cutting edge with out question. It isn't something you have to run out and do but keep an eye on it so it doesn't get worn too far. The newer plows need them right from the get go. Fisher drastically shaved them down. -John
John, Yours are very cool but, before I spilled the beans ( as it were ) I was going to have you look at Meyers three way adjustable wings as a template to reproduce. They are the best ones I have seen available commercially. Box blade, angle blade, and straight blade with easy removal. By the way John, we to have a Fisher plow ( an xv2) but we looked at this Meyer first because we already had a Meyer on our Jeep. Be well. Wayne
+IowaKLR650 I wasn't sure that a hydraulically controlled side wings would go well with the F250. I was worried that it might be to heavy. I thought about a Meyers blade but the dealer was too far away and if I needed repairs or service it would have been a pain. I also need to watch the width of the blade. I have one driveway that is literally inches larger than the plow. -John
We ran just the one plow. We were lucky and only had one mechanical failure. We stopped for lunch and when we came out the starter wouldn't work. Had it towed to garage and replaced the starter. These trucks ain't cheap brother.
everything looks good and ever gadget has a purpose on this plow. is that a ton of extra weight to the front end, back drag, plow wings and maybe a cutting edge after you wear the trip 2 inches?
+McCloud Landscaping It does add a bit of weight. I installed airbags in the front suspension so it should all work out well. I have had the truck out with the plow attached and it carries it well. I think I will be ok. - John
Good Video. Where can i buy a teflon blade? I was thinking of getting a pvc pipe and slotting it to fit over The edge. I have about 5 houses with interlocking and stamped concrete. Not much volume. The rest i can use the regular Steele blade. But for 150 it might be worth getting a better blade. Thanks
It took me a minute to find what I think will help you with your search. Here they just call it a "TEFLON" blade, but that isn't really what it is. The product branches from the same material they use for dump trucks. It is called "UHMW-PE". Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight polyethylene, Basically for the layman is a very durable plastic. I just bought a 7-foot length of it for my tractor box plow. It cost me 165 $ Canadian. I am guessing it is about 7 or 8 inches wide. It cuts and drills just like plastic but can really take a beating.
the backdrag angle seems it did not change at all. it's just longer and lifting your plow higher which is going to put more stress and wear out your new edge even faster. I suggest extending the backdrag arms a couple inches so the blade sits closer to 90° to the pavement. I could send you photos of mine if you'd like. I made mine almost as aggressive as the attack angle of the plow itself and it chattered and vibrated a bit at first but now it's just as smooth as going forward. steel would probably damage the driveways you're describing but with the added edge you have there you should be just fine. just my opinion.
I tried some different angles. Like you mention there was chatter. At the moment the back drag appears to be working good. I would love to see a pic of yours. My email is on the about page. Send me one.
I made a set of these 8 yrs ago just like your's you will love them, however, dont put skids on the bottom your wings get some cutting edge rubber,2x10,by what length your wings are, cut the bottoms up 6 inch and then mount the cutting edge rubber on the bottom, two reasons, the skids will wear out and the biggest reason the steel dosent flex like the rubber will if you angle your blade...and you will be angling your blade, you are going to love these way better and faster than a V blade, Ive had both. Hope this helps
It will help someone. I have since sold this plow truck and bought a small tractor. Gave up all my customers in the city and will be looking to keep things close to home. For the type of driveways and the need to put the snow back onto the owner's property a tractor is the best choice for this area.
well Jon you got some nice mods on your plow hope it works out for you what would had been nice if they extended those bars for you that way you can use them as wings if your wing rowing.. don't feel bad on drill into your plow. i has to drill into my plow this year to put a rubber foil on. it's nice to know that the new plows have mods that you put on thay are pre drilled makes life a lot simpler. good luck on your upcoming season
It does hold more snow and leaves a lot less lines to clean up. In the end a quicker job. I like them. They took a little getting used to since they do stick out in front a lot more. I think we are good now. -John
+The Plow Guys Sorry i missed read your comment, The wings don't trip. They are fixed in place. The bottom is cut at a angle to help the sides lift over difference in the surface they are on. The plow's blade is about 1/2 a inch lower than the sides. -John
i want to get in to snow plowing ,my house and some family members,i have a 2015 gmc sierra 1500 ,4.3L v6 and i need to know if the truck have enough power and can handle the weight of the plow(7-7.5),any advices will be really appreciate.thxs
This video made me happy I left Fisher product for Boss, Western (and Myers for the light duty trucks). The welding and maintenance I had to do on my Fisher plows was always such a pain.
Well everyone has a preference. So far the Fisher has been good to me. Had some problems in the beginning with the electrics. The dealer fixed those under warranty.
Fisher is well-loved here in New England. But all the maintenance with electrical components, controls, hydraulics and welding/repairs I had to do every year was killing my bottom line. Even my brand-new fisher plows would have something go wrong during the season. I spent so much in 2015 for repairs in parts and time that I could have bought 2 new plows.
the backdrag blade should have been mounted higher, then you only need stop tabs on the back of it and the back of the plow will stop it, no risk of bending those little rods. Thats how mines mounted
I have noticed many different designs of back drags. I have seen one that looks like it is made from angle iron. Some I will agree work better than others. This year this one does work better and the rods haven't bent. So far so good. Thanks for adding to the conversation Deacon of Trade. -John

Decent mods, not my cup of tea. As to the trip edge, when I get a new plow I'll drill a second set of holes 2 inches further down, now on the fisher the only gotcha is 2 hard hard steel blocks on the corners bolts. Drill until it stops then torch it out. I start on the upper holes then shift to the lower holes and only end up with an under 3 inch wear edge scrap that gets used on tractor buckets! Thumbs up for wandering outside the box!
I've never heard of anyone running without a plow cutting edge on purpose. You learn something new on the internet every day. Did you throw out the cutting edge that came on the plow from Fisher? Or did the installer not bother to put it on? I think you are in for an expensive lesson.
+david427steel I thought I covered this. The plate is not included with the plow. the cutting edge on the plow is long enough and has worn down a 1/8 of a inch since I have had the plow. I will as I stated in the video but not this year. It will be something I will revisit next fall. Thanks for leaving a comment and sharing your opinion. -John
The Plow Guys I'm a little confused when you say plate - are you referring to the cutting edge? Or are you referring to a wear plate to put on the cutting edge. Sometime we'll build up ground engaging tools (what we call bucket/blade wear parts) in extreme wear applications but it seems like a waste of time and money in snow plowing. I was talking to a guy who does mostly highway plowing for the state, he said carbide plow cutting edges are running him $80/foot. Ouch. Seems like with that little wear in three years it's something you can easily get away with in residential applications.
Watching your video pretty cool plow but this one problem you need to put your 6 inch Cutting Edge I do commercial parking lots for 20 years and if you don't you're going to wear the distance of your spring brackets right off the plow never ever wear that trip plate down if the blades too long cut The Cutting Edge on the ends off a little bit I guarantee you don't know without makeup
We will get a blade put on soon. maybe for next winter. I do a lot of back dragging so the front edge doesn't get used the same as some one that does parking lots where they are always pushing.
You’d be dangerous if you figured out how to use the back blade right.. those mods were not necessary.. when you put the plow down you need to go forward just a little bit. that puts the back blade facing backwards, like it supposed to to give you the ergonomics for digging in.. then you drive backwards if you hit something it’ll pick up the Plow and flip the back blade forward. so it’s like the trip edge in reverse.so if that happens you need to reset it pick the plow up drop it back down drive forward A little bit then reverse
@@ThePlowGuys Yeah, I only do driveways. The 7-6 is perfect size. Plus, these guys hanging 8 and 9 foot blades on pickups are just destroying their drivetrains.
+Christopher Kapp We do have one in the works. We will try to have it up this week-end. Ya We have been having a snow drought here as well. Can't really do videos with only a couple of CM's or a inch or so.
+E H Thanks for the comment. Yes you are right. I haven't done this for 20 yrs. I have things still to learn. I thought it would be great to share my experiences with others. Take care -John
here's a mod i'm working on.. stemmed caster wheels to fit in the plow shoe holes so i can move the thing when i store it..
you got a nice thinker, sir.
We used to call them Side plates. Some guys take one side off. Maybe for windrows. Great Job. keep them coming.

Who sells Western Side Plates for a ProPlow?
These mods were fabricated by the shop. They are not made by Western, fisher, Blizzard.
Where can a guy buy a box end kit like in your video?
These are custom made at the dealer where I bought my plow. So was the back blade. "Attache Chateauguay" attacheschateauguay.com/en/
Since your plow has a trip edge how does your wings trip

Watching your video pretty cool plow but this one problem you need to put your 6 inch Cutting Edge I do commercial parking lots for 20 years and if you don't you're going to wear the distance of your spring brackets right off the plow never ever wear that trip plate down if the blades too long cut The Cutting Edge on the ends off a little bit I guarantee you don't know without makeup
We will get a blade put on soon. maybe for next winter. I do a lot of back dragging so the front edge doesn't get used the same as some one that does parking lots where they are always pushing.
Mexicans is to Honda Civic as this guys is to plows
LMAO that is too funny
"""We will be right back""" What is this CBS?
"""Hindthought""" Is that even a word?
Just buy a B
lizzard 810. Lot better and cheaper in the long run.
It's a gusset
You’d be dangerous if you figured out how to use the back blade right.. those mods were not necessary.. when you put the plow down you need to go forward just a little bit. that puts the back blade facing backwards, like it supposed to to give you the ergonomics for digging in.. then you drive backwards if you hit something it’ll pick up the Plow and flip the back blade forward. so it’s like the trip edge in reverse.so if that happens you need to reset it pick the plow up drop it back down drive forward A little bit then reverse
Only A 7 foot 6 blade man get a 9 foot on that thing and move even more snow
Won't fit into some of the driveways around here. -John
@@ThePlowGuys Yeah, I only do driveways. The 7-6 is perfect size. Plus, these guys hanging 8 and 9 foot blades on pickups are just destroying their drivetrains.
no new vids. no snow there just like here
+Christopher Kapp We do have one in the works. We will try to have it up this week-end. Ya We have been having a snow drought here as well. Can't really do videos with only a couple of CM's or a inch or so.
hdpe plastic is what i run chaep 40 buckks
+Dustin Dietzler how does it wear? I am hoping to get at least 2 seasons out of this one.
Hit one inlet and sent the right wing into oblivion
This guy has no clue about what he is talking about. Everything he named was wrong.
You don't plow professionally!!! That's for sure!!
+E H Thanks for the comment. Yes you are right. I haven't done this for 20 yrs. I have things still to learn. I thought it would be great to share my experiences with others. Take care -John
