He mentioned in an interview that when he was coming up with his stage persona years ago and hit upon that, uh, _unique_ bowl cut he wasn't happy with the version the first hairdresser he went to gave him. So he found another and when he walked in the door the guy's spontaneous reaction was to the effect of "what the _fuck_ do you have on your head man?"
...the latter guy is now his go-to hairstylist. :D
