I'm a carpenter and hate doing mechanic stuff. I was told my 2012 Chevy Express did not have a vacuum system by a repair shop. Made an appointment with a Chevy dealer, which I also hate as they overcharge and do more than needed. Then I found this video. Got my step stool, felt around under the battery and there was the disconnected tube. This video saved me a 130-mile round trip and I can only imagine how much money. What you did in passing has helped many people. You should feel proud.
I never comment on these but thank you. You turnedthis project into a 5-minute fix for me. I didn't even have to remove the battery tray you can reach underneath and feel all the hoses
Was gonna go to a mechanic to fix this. Then found your video, purchased that hose on Amazon and replaced. Took me 1-2 mins. Everything works now! Thank you so much!!!
I had no idea about the connectors under the passenger side floor, I've been roasting in my work van for the past year. Just watched this video on a 95 degree day and now I'm feeling very good in my incredible A/C. Life saver. I'm not car savy at all
Wow, I was about to put a new blend door actuator in and came across this video, yup the vacuum line was off the ball, no need to remove headlight, took like half hour or so, fixed!! Mine is a 2007 with the 6.0 gas, all I had was that ball and one vacuum line, no motor thingy. Awesome thanks
This was the issue to my vehicle ac blend door stuck on feet. Super simple and cheap fix. I replace that hose and another one that was also getting worn out as preventative maintenance. Thanks for the short to the point vid.
Thanks for the information. The vacuum lines on my 2015 Express 2500 4.8L were extremely dry rotted . Split in half for almost a foot. Works like new now.
Man. This was very well explained and fixed my truck as well. This is the first time I’ve even considered a comment on TH-cam. I’m glad I checked for a repair.
Well, thanks for this. Based on the video I was able to replace the rotten vacuum tubing mostly blind without removing anything. I just reached down under the battery, pulled off the old hose, replaced that with 5/32” hose. Then mine had a 7/32” hose from that first tee to the intake manifold. It was shot too so I replaced that. I got 3 ft of both and it was plenty. 20 minute fix if I don’t count the auto parts store trip.
Dude your video just saved my ass! It’s about to be hot as shit here in Vegas this week and now all I have to do is replace a few lines for my AC to work! Thank you so much for posting!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the detail about the location of the vacuum pump! I have a 2010 GMC Savana 1 ton with the 6 litre gas engine that I converted to a camperv. I was having the same issue and, as a woman, thought I would end up having to take my van into a GM Service Centre for diagnosis and repair. However, I checked my vacuum line and found the end had simply pulled away from the vacuum pump. Because you had shown the location on the vacuum pump I knew where to look for the nipple to reattach the hose without having to remove the battery. Voila! Now my vents operate as they should. Thank you once again. BTW: I had gone to an automotive store and purchased replacement hose before opening the hood to the engine compartment so I will have a supply on hand ready for the time I have to replace them.
I seriously agree with Elaine. I have been with this issue on my 2016 for about 3 months now during these crazy heats here. i called the dealership, $1100, or just $165 to check. I tried searching online and no help. finally I said I would try youtube and BAME! this was amazing and I was shocked that it was literally just the hose disconnected. I also because of your video didnt need to take the battery out and just reconnect it to where I knew and felt the nipple that the hose goes to. GENIUS! Love and respect -O
Bro your a life saver. Saved me a lot of time and money I didnt know about that. Checked for the hoses and sure enough they had came off and they are all brittle and coming off.
Your video helped me today. I found a disconnected hose attached it back to the accumulator, that round plastic ball looking thing and it started pumping air back to my vents. Only problem is the line is so old and flexible, it collapses. Might have a clog on the accumulator nipple. When I get the chance I’m going to pull it all apart like you did and fix all of them. Thanks again!
I’ve been putting this off for a while cause I thought it’d be a pain replacing those vacuum lines but it really wasn’t that bad . Got some washer fluid hoses and from autozkne and it works good. Got air blowing through my front vents. Thanks for posting
Thank you for posting this video! For our 2006 Chevy Express 2500. A huge help to get our A/C back in our face! Solved and fixed because my vacuum lines became disconnected.
Awesome fix man! Thanks for taking the effort to put this video out 🤙 Fixed a problem in a couple hours that has been a thorn in my side for two years now. You’re right, my vac hose was also dry rotted crap!
@@huntermaddox_24 I ended up finding a connection that wiggled loose. I'll definitely keep my eye out for those deteriorating hoses though. Thanks for the tip!
Mine was completely disconnected I have a savana 2013 and I didn't see that $200 pump only the ball under the trey was disconnected. I connected it(the tube is falling apart) and it got better but still for the most part it's still coming from the defrost vents. I'm gonna ask my mechanic to do while doing my next oil change
I have a 06 chevy express 4.8. I am loosing Heath. Keep filling up my radiator. Finally after a weed or so I discovered a antifreeze leak under the battery. I wonder if by just replacing these hoses that’ll fix the problem. And I wonder why is the antifreeze is getting there??
Question for ya, that main line that goes into the cab. There is 2 hard plastic lines that goes into the cab. Do you know where that other hard line plastic line is supposed to hook up to? Mines capped and I can’t figure out where it needs to get hooked up
great video i have same issues on 2006 6.6 diesel i replaced all the hoses the pump i also found that the other vaccum hose going through fire wall with that one went to the bottom of another canister just on the other side passenger wheel well that too was disconnected. have you located the fuse for that pump under the battery tray? just can't seem to get any vacuum at the climate controls
You need to make sure that you have power to the vacuum motor first. Unplug the plug to the vacuum motor and turn the key on and check power to see if you have power there. If you have power at the vacuum pump and it is pumping then you just have to start tracing The vacuum lines through the firewall and up behind the radio for a leak!
Where is the door mode actuator located on a Chevy Express? I’ve literally spent all day trying to find it because I don’t have a vacuum pump on my specific model and I’ve replaced the dry rotted hoses and still can’t change settings.
Maybe you came across this issue during your vast online searches, I can't find anything on it but, whenever I take my 2015 Express over 60mph, the front AC vents switch off to defrost only. Does that sound like a vacuum line issue or some fuel economy thing in the microchip?
@@huntermaddox_24 I found my issue. I couldn't find any leak, pulled the line off the canister and put a little hand vacuum pump on it and could pull vacuum on the system, then it dawned on me "this is intake vacuum, I shouldn't be able to do this and hold vacuum" found that some how the hose got pinched between dipstick tube and intake. all good now.
Those pumps I think are supposed to cycle on then off as vacuum level is reached. If those hoses have been dry-rotted like that for long enough it may be burnt. Hose is 100% a problem, but the pump may be as well. Use silicone hoses and you'll never have to replace them. Rubber always rots. Chevy stays in business via the service department by using cheap materials. I replaced a PCV line on a cadillac that basically made the car completely undrivable. I couldn't believe how complicated they made accessing that 4 inch long hose. It was intentionally to keep it from being a simple 5 minute fix. I've never bought a Chevy product and I never will.
What about a express van that the a.c air stops coming out intermittently. New blower motor and heat works fine but the a.c air just stops coming out randomly than starts again ? Any ideas?

You just saved me a lot of headache brother. And FYI, it's the exact same on a gas engine express as well.
After a month of asking my boss to fix the ac in the van i decided to try and fix it myself. Thank you so much its worked like a charm!
