- German composer and conductor August Klughardt composed his Woodwind Quintet, Op. 79 in C Major in 1901. The Klughardt quintet is a quintessential wind quintet that has become a standard in the repertoire. Please enjoy the first movement, Allegro non troppo, performed by the Woodwind Ambassadors. The group features members Staff Sgt. Troy Paolantonio on flute, Staff Sgt. Amy Houck on oboe, Sgt. 1st Class John Blair on clarinet, Sgt. 1st Class Thad Crutcher on bassoon, and Staff Sgt. Jennifer Kempe on french horn. Performed live on December 15, 2020.

The US Service bands have done a fabulous job over the last 12 months keeping the music going, and both demonstrating best practice and setting a great example of safe music making under Covid restrictions and guidelines. Bravo.
Thank you! We so appreciate your support.
You're very welcome! I think the first time I heard your band was on a cassette I bought in the early 80s on a whim. Sousa played by your band + a Wurlitzer pipe organ. It was a blessing when I lost it ;) My tastes have matured since then.
繊細な音楽を奏でるんですね。意外でした。てっきりパワーありきの音楽かと...全楽章聴きたかったです。
my congratulations with a nice cut, staff sergant Crutcher

Glad you enjoyed it!
I always wondered why French horns are mostly in woodwind ensembles and not brass 🤔. Anyways, fabulous job! I can’t wait until I hear live music again!
Short answer: Tradition!
Long answer: Composers, like Mozart and Beethoven, scored music for woodwinds and horns in the late 18th century. This group of wind players played music known as "Harmoniemusik." Later in the early 19th century, the wind quintet was formed with flute added. The horn has stayed as a member of this ensemble because it has flexibility-it blends well with woodwinds and with brass! You'll find that horns also play in brass ensembles, such as brass quintets.
A very beautiful sound, but time to change the name, you have non wood reed instruments; change to Non-Woodwind.
I think just “Wind” would be fine.
