Ok for the real eagled eyed, if you look at the back of the studio near the wall (1:34) you'll notice a bass body. That bass body is the second production pre ernie ball Stingray bass ever made. It was made for Louis Johnston to test with two long pole humbuckers. It never went into production hence the fact that the Stingray under MusicMan and CLF never made one and here it sits just piling on dust. For those of us who are collectors and historians of MusicMan this office is the holy grail, it has parts we can never get any longer and they just sit on benches and in trays - kinda sad but also kind of beautiful too. Love your work Leo, you are missed my friend.
I would be very proud to own a G&L instrument after watching this videos. True artisans lead by a great humble guy, with all the history behind them. A new bass will be in sight, and coming from them.
You might find it stupid or childish, but when I bought my current home, near Bordeaux (France), I discovered that the rest room walls tiles (which are VERY old) were SURF GREEN! We made many changes and improvements in that home, but I never wanted to change these tiles, paying tribute to Mr. Leo's memory. Each time I come to that tiny quiet room, I have a thought for the genius who designed my wonderful '52 Tele...
This was really well done - thanks for the tour. There were sooooo many innovators around that time in the US. In the HiFi world, Rudy Bozak, Saul Marantz, etc. come to mind as contemporaries of Mr. Fender.
