Important to note that if your inventory is full then your exotic weapon will go straight to the postmaster without notifying you. Got a suros regime the other day from lvl 28 PoE that way
in the beginning of the new quest line there is a package you get for starting the quest, i believe it is at the same time that you get the new sidearm. i received a key from that so there is many ways of getting keys for the chest in the barrows at the end of PoE.
Theres one way to get a confirmed key, from the story questline. You can also get them from the ether chests, as said in the video, AND from the smaller chests in the loot room of the prison of elders. Wasn't sure if that was stated in the video, but wanted to make it clear that you CAN get treasure keys from the prison of elders chests.
Just one small thing you got wrong: The Elder Cipher drops when you kill the arena boss, not when you open the treasure chest. It also has a chance of dropping on any challenge mode difficulty.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: the chests either side of the larger chest both act as ether chests so both can drop keys, the big chest is NOT a garunteed exotic, it just has a really high chance, Exotic armour can drop from the end chest so you can obtain the new gear and finally the eldercipher can drop from any of the round 5 bosses on PoE at round 32+. Hope this info is helpful, try and share this so others know
I can confirm that the 2 small chests in the loot room work like the patrol chests and you have a chance to get a key for the big chest from them as well. A question I have is if you have a better chance at exotics and exotic bounties in the higher PoE levels? (i.e. you get a better chance to get exotic weapons/bounties from the 34 and 35 as apposed to the 28 & 32?)
When you get a Queens Blessing package from doing the bounties from Petra, you are able to get a Key as well. This gave my titan 2 keys while finishing the story missions via rewards.
Up until last week I was missing 3 exotics. Truth, gjallarhorn, and monte carlo. Xur sold truth on Friday, and my first 2 level 28 completions I got monte carlo and gjallarhorn. Destiny, you DO love me after all. It just took you a long while to show me.
I've gotten 2 elder ciphers, neither from the chest at the end. They drop immediately following the death of a boss. One after we killed Skolas on 35 and the other after we killed the final vex boss on 34, this week. I selected the sniper first on one character, then the shotgun on my second character, how ever I'm still waiting as there is a portion of the bounty where you have to "wait until you are summoned".
I've used a few keys so far and only got an exotic on the first go (Ghorn). I did receive legendary queens weapons every time though. You also have a chance at getting exotics at the end when you get rewards (like you do at end of PvP matches). My partner got an exotic weapon (can't remember which one).

Finally got my first gjallarhorn from the nightfall today! Whilst ranking it up using the story missions on my hunter, I got a second one from 28 PoE on the same day....
Elder cipher drops from 34 and 35 bosses, not the chest. Also, I learned from personal experience that completing Skolas without a key will ensure you don't get the shader, ship, or emblem, as they drop from the big chest
I've opened the chest seven times total, across different difficulties. On my first level 28 run, the one required to open up the challenge modes, I got an exotic (old one, fully ascended), a Queen's Guard weapon, and the coins/motes/glimmer that you seem to get consistently. After that, I completed three on level 28, two on level 32, and one on level 34. In all of those chests, on all of those difficulties, I got the exact same type of loot: One Queen's Guard weapon, three strange coins, three motes of light, and one thousand glimmer. Since I scrapped all of the weapons due to my Iron Banner armory being much more effective in my experience, I didn't really get much of a reward for my efforts. Even the items from Variks are a bit lackluster, since we have no choice of perks or stats. Overall, I'm very disappointed by the loot system here. I grinded those damn boss spawns in Skywatch for hours, and I ended up with three keys that gave me crap. I got more, and they gave me crap too. I think we should have a chance to get the "Fallen themed" armor/weapons from the final chest, since we can only get one armor, one weapon, and a random piece, or two random pieces from Variks every week. Also, they need to reward at least one key per week, preferably one for each mode. Honestly, I'm tired of all the fucking random loot in this game, and all of the random aspects of reforging that random loot. When is Bungie going to discover the word "choice" and give us an interface that allows us to build our own personal weapons from the ones we find? Instead, we have to rely on grinding fucking motes of light that could either give us the perfect roll on the first try or utter crap for hours on end, and everything in between.
So does it matter what level POE you play when it comes to the big chest? It seems like you have equal chance to get exotics from any level. You just don't get the cores and light
They say they've changed things, but in the end we're still back to farming. I've opened between 15-20 Ether chests and haven't gotten a key. Hopefully that's not an indication of the drop rate.
This has obviously more than likely been figured out by all hardcore destiny players but if there is someone here who doesn't know. You get a treasure key for the first bounty that you complete for Petra in the Reef each week. You can do this with all 3 characters.
The only thing I'm not sure about is.. Are the seperate loot drops for each big chest per difficulty... So for e.g are there exclusive things in the lvl35 POE big chest that you would not be able to get from the big chest on the lower levels of POE? Anyone know the answer to this?
My loot from 3 chests was: 1 truth and a dreamwaker launcher. 1 queen handcannon. 1 dreamwaker launcher again. This was on the lvl 28,28 and 32 version. Please note that it was on the same day. I don't think exotics are a garuntee though. Cool video.
The first key people use on each character gives them a guaranteed exotic but keys they use after that on the same characters don't give exotics or class items
i received a key when opening a queens wrath package from leveling up queens wrath rank. This doesn't appear to be guaranteed though, my freind did not when opening the same package from the same rank up.
I got a key on a random chest on venus along with a legendary engram and also when i opened one of the smaller chest in the treasure room and a legendary engram drop turned into a key just like they do tokens

how i get keys is after killing a boss out in the world (the ones you get from petra) you then go turn these in and most of the time, youl get a key, hopefuly this helps :)
What's up Arekkz can I give you an update on that key situation? You can also get a key from the female Vendor when completing her bounties. I received one from Varriks and one from her with the same character. I was the only one in my 3 man fireteam to get it. They all got like shaders and weapons. So you have a potential to get more than one at the reef. The definite one from Varriks and one that may drop from the reef when completing the story mission bounties. I hope that helps. You see this is the problem with the new House of Wolves. The main loot system requires you to have a key that drops (In my experience) very rare chances. I've spent days farming for keys and only ever received one from a chest. Just to give you some perspective on how many times I farmed it, my entire vault and 3 characters inventory slots were completely full. I've lost all motivation to play prison of elders as the standard queens weapons just don't cut it as a reward! Variks giving you a key at the start of the weekly refresh seem like the best idea that could fix this.
It's just rng, I managed to get 15 keys! If you don't like the queens weapons then there is no point getting keys as that's what you will mainly get from the chest!
They could at least throw out the chance of getting Etheric Light. in level 32 POE. Like I said, unless you're extremely lucky at getting keys then there's no point in even playing the POE. The two times I have actually had keys all i've gotten were useless Queens weapons that don't live up to other standards of the weapons I already have. So it was like i may have not even bothered spending time on the POE
you get a 1 new key each week after completing your first bounty for the queens wrath you get one exotic item for each character the 1st time you open the chest after that its a really low chance further more there is a small chance of getting a key on any lv of P.O.E smaller chests how ever its drop rate is the same as the ether chest so good luck that's what i found out if you guys find out any other information or if i do keep updating the it for all to know the community grow when all information is shared and it makes it a place where every one can grow instead of those who keep things to them self's so no one can prosper.
Is there a way to know if I ran particular POE strike this week? I have 3 characters and forgot if I ran level 32 and 34 strike this week by my warlock..
if you hover the games cursor on the 32/34 PoE, it will show the rewards that you could get if you haven't completed them. if it doesn't show the rewards, it means you've done it.
I got two keys from the two small chests in the treasure room on level 28 POE That is rare as I have played many of these but my point is you can get keys from those chests
So what I want to know is, if I have 5 keys for example, and I've done level 32/34/35 already on my characters, can I run 5 level 28 PoEs and use my 5 keys to have 5 exotic chances? I've read that you only get the chance for an exotic the first time you open a chest that week, regardless of what level PoE you did, but I'm hearing the opposite in this video and I don't know what to do.
I think I've opened a chest at the beginning of the Destiny week before and didn't get an exotic, but I have gotten one after opening many chests after that, so I'm assuming there's just a chance for an exotic whenever you go to open it.
On two keys I received 2 exotic weapons. I received a patience and time and MY FIRST GHJALLAHORN!!!!! Playing since day one I get my first Ghorn in the last DLC go figure all that grinding. WOW. But I'm officially in the club.
I farmed chests for 5 hrs straight and i opened about 100 chests and only got 1 treasure key i used it first thing lvl 28 as soon as the reset and didnt get an exotic does that mean no exotic atall this week from PoE
Arekkz! I disagree with you on the Elder cipher. That exotic bounty is IMMDIATELY rewarded to you upon Boss completion. It has been confirmed for the level 34 version. No idea about others
Yeah, the first time I opened the chest I got an exotic rocket launcher, truth. The other two times I did NOT receive an exotic but still got a legendary item. So you are gauranteed at least one exotic item per week and the rest of the time it will be only a legendary item along with other loot.
My bestfriend and I played the House of Wolves DLC and completed it and today we did our first Prison of Elders (I'm level 28 and so is he so we put it on level 28) and I ended up getting the gjallarhorn and he ended up getting the exotic rocket launcher "Truth".
Basically, on every character me and my friends got very good loot for the first 28 arena, then on the 32 arena I got poor loot. Has anyone done the 28 arena twice on the same character and got good stuff?
Yes, I have done it twice in my hunter and got an exotic each time! But an exotic is not a 100% drop so you have to be lucky but there is a high chance!

From my experience, it is a guaranteed exotic the first time you ever open it, after that it is just a chance.

Can you get just a plain lord of wolves from the chest or does it have to be the bounty

I receive two keys from the queen for completing the bounties she offered. It was from one of the purple packages she rewards.
I've gotten a key from the side chest in the reward room for prison on 28
I got two keys from the two small chests in the treasure room on level 28 POE
That is rare as I have played many of these but my point is you can get keys from those chests

Do you still get a key on the first run of the week
So what I want to know is, if I have 5 keys for example, and I've done level 32/34/35 already on my characters, can I run 5 level 28 PoEs and use my 5 keys to have 5 exotic chances? I've read that you only get the chance for an exotic the first time you open a chest that week, regardless of what level PoE you did, but I'm hearing the opposite in this video and I don't know what to do.
Roxas3510 First time is a guaranteed exotic, the other times getting an exotic is quite rare but if u dont get an exotic u will get a legendary
I think I've opened a chest at the beginning of the Destiny week before and didn't get an exotic, but I have gotten one after opening many chests after that, so I'm assuming there's just a chance for an exotic whenever you go to open it.
Ive gotten 3 exotics from the big chest with three keys. Is it 100% guarantee exotic or was that rng makingit seem like it is and just lucked out?

On two keys I received 2 exotic weapons. I received a patience and time and MY FIRST GHJALLAHORN!!!!! Playing since day one I get my first Ghorn in the last DLC go figure all that grinding. WOW. But I'm officially in the club.
I farmed chests for 5 hrs straight and i opened about 100 chests and only got 1 treasure key i used it first thing lvl 28 as soon as the reset and didnt get an exotic does that mean no exotic atall this week from PoE
Anyone know if higher the arena level the higher the chance for exotics?

The big chest does not give you 100% chance to exotic.
Arekkz! I disagree with you on the Elder cipher. That exotic bounty is IMMDIATELY rewarded to you upon Boss completion. It has been confirmed for the level 34 version. No idea about others
Yeah, the first time I opened the chest I got an exotic rocket launcher, truth. The other two times I did NOT receive an exotic but still got a legendary item. So you are gauranteed at least one exotic item per week and the rest of the time it will be only a legendary item along with other loot.
My bestfriend and I played the House of Wolves DLC and completed it and today we did our first Prison of Elders (I'm level 28 and so is he so we put it on level 28) and I ended up getting the gjallarhorn and he ended up getting the exotic rocket launcher "Truth".
The first time i did the prison of elders on 28 i got a red death(exotic) and fear eater leggings (legendary)

Basically, on every character me and my friends got very good loot for the first 28 arena, then on the 32 arena I got poor loot. Has anyone done the 28 arena twice on the same character and got good stuff?
Yes, I have done it twice in my hunter and got an exotic each time! But an exotic is not a 100% drop so you have to be lucky but there is a high chance!
