Brought back some memories that. Used to commute every day from St Mary Cray to Victoria on those old beauties. They got a bit old and warn by the end of their active service, and they were always a bit uncomfortable to ride on, but I admit to feeling a tad nostalgic looking at these images, even if the newer trains are much nicer.
I don't think that's Chelsfield 3:42 because Chelsfield only has 2 Platforms not 4. I think the Station in this shot you filmed there was at Chislehurst which has 4 Platforms not Chelsfield so I think you made a mistake in the caption there mate.
Unfortunately it was when i was aged 5-7 so i wasn't filming, but i can remeber being small enough to rest my chin on the top of the door window, when it was down and rest my forehead on one of the two bars covering the window and i would just stand there for the whole journey, i loved those trains and a recent trip to Lymington brought all those meories back. Good Times.
@douglas1249 The vast majority got scrapped. Today there is only one original VEP left, and 3 units which were converted from VEPs. There are a few driving carriages scattered around but sadly a once very large class of workhorse units is now reduced to a miniscule number.
great video those could top 90mph where the other slam doors could only do 75mph I think they should have just used the 'Networker Classic' on them The 'Networker Classic' is rebuilding the body of MK1 EMUS but keeping the chasis and Motors
In November 2003 Connex lost the South Eastern franchise the SRA & what become the whole new name of South Eastern Trains. When South Eastern Trains in November 2003 the Connex branding & logo removed from the Veps.
My advice to you is to go out and film the run of the mill day to day things now. The 455/456/465 not just locos but what today is the norm. Because just like my films of the slammers were at the time nothing outside of the norm they are now obviously a popular record!
Mmm, I'm not sure I'd go as far as saying they were good looking - most of the time they were caked in dirt! They were also a pain during the rush hour because if you were lucky enough to get a seat, you'd have the constant irritation of boarding passengers barging past and freezing cold air rushing in, because there was a door next to every seat. Personally I'm glad to be rid of them :)

You’re more than likely correct! I am hoping to redo some of these collections in the coming months and will look more carefully at the locations!!
Thanks mate.

I wonder what that 373 was doing at Westenhanger...?
Nice video.
I might have been on one of those trains. Spent a whole summer in the UK in '03. Thanks for the memories.

it had no branding on the VEPS excpet the word south central and south eastern
William Webb yes and at the time they were still operating in Melbourne until 2009 they are now known as a bus company named transdev
Not to mention Networkers, Electrostars in which the Connex Branding got replaced by the South Eastern Trains Branding and the Class 508s as well
@globalcentralline Actually that's Charing Cross!
Nostalgia...... 2005....Medway Valley Line....... :')
The forst VEP @ FAV would have been forming a service to DVP as it has the route code "30".
i agree with you 110% i dont like the new ones the train industry always want to disfigure the back in the day image
@alrispoli that is very true, although i detest the 450s, 444s and 377s, and the 350s, i still amass enough footage for when they are gone.
Never was a fan of the VEPs to ride in.. always headed for a nice big window in a CIG if I could
