If my old memory serves me correctly, there was a lot of SCANDAL in the Priest Pedophilia Crisis, when he was a bishop or a cardinal in Wisconsin. I don't trust him, and I've thought for years that if any American prelate might be nominated pope, it would unfortunately be him. Yes, there is an image problem in the Church, but I doubt that hw's the one, who could improve it!
