    Thanks for the video dude! The only thing I don't like about my 16" HB model is the lack of sling studs...now to gather the balls to drill into my stock.

    You sped up at the end. Can I assume you used some plastic glue to help anchor in the rear stud? Maybe you said that earlier? Can't remember. Great job, I enjoy watching someone who knows what the hell they are doing. Now I'm off to attach push-button swivel studs to my Mini-14.

    Great videos! I have the Remington 597 HB... do you think the ATI Swivel Studs with 7/16" thread area work without having to cut any off? Only doing the front for a bipod.

      Thanks. And, I'm not sure. All of the swivels I have mounted have been the same length, with the only exception being the wood screw type. I've seen more stocks need recessed a little, to get things to flush up, or Nexus bolts were to short, rather than bolts needing cut short. The heavy barrel MIGHT be the exception, but I'm not certain. Sorry I can't give you a better answer.

    question: how do i know where to drill the hole for the back swivel stud?

    • @noneyabus1
      @noneyabus1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just put a set on mine which has the heavy barrel. I'd go at least a inch or so from the base plate, the part that goes to your shoulder when shooting, and just center it up. The stock on mine is hollow so I don't think it will matter where you put the hole. I just wouldn't put it to close to the end to make sure it doesn't try to split.
      Also, it's good to start out with a smaller bit than a bit that is to large. You can always make the hole larger but making it smaller is difficult. I can't do it at all.

    Do you know the butt plate is removable and the stock is hollow; thereby, allowing a bolt for the real swivel stud?

    • @docv73
      @docv73  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it's hollow. And the base plate comes off, but it's not screwed in, it's glued or sonic fused, so I don't know if I would call it "removable." I didn't want to risk getting cheap plastic to break free from cheap plastic, and hope they both stayed intact. But, if a person can get it off in one piece, you are correct.

      Thanks for the insight. Your video shows the rear stud as the screw type. How thick is the plastic material accepting the screw stud? Are there enough threads embedded in the plastic to allow for a firm hold?

    • @docv73
      @docv73  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dick Sternberg about 3/4 of the threads are in plastic. Mine (not the one in the video) has been in place since 1996, and it gets used A LOT.
