Small correction here. The artifact mod for the damage resistance while amplified does not make you amplified on orb pickup

For PVE, Dart is better for repeats, but if you're running on a Stasis theme for paring freeze and ignigte (both benefit from the fragment) Don't sleep on shurikien. The other fragment that gets regeneration on dodge from buffs means you're going to have dodge up frequently anyways. Pair that with slow on dodge rather than invisiblity and you still crowd control but you can take advantage of both shatter AND ignite. Especially effective when Trancendant.
Also to add the stasis aspect isn't just an aoe slow but it also generates class energy whenever you slow enemies (shuriken, headstone creation, chill clip, etc) which just brings up that uptime even more.

I hear you but imo withering blade is one of the worst range melees in the game so I would never seriously pick it for a build. Like yes it can slow and bounce between multiple targets so it can stun overloads with no needed help and at low level it can get multi kills on redbars but past that it isn't doing anything special especially with us having PLENTY of ways to deal with overloads on top of being compared to threaded spike being able hitting more targets, tracking better, doing more damage, severing enemies, and regenerating itself based off of enemies hit. This is just thinking about prismatic but if we're looking at the history of stasis withering blade was a fast freeze in pvp and good multi player hit ability for a while but after the nerfs it's pretty underwhelming on all sides (recharge rate, damage, slow stacks, subclass synergy) and it only really benefits your subclass if you force yourself to build heavily around it and even then its ok at best. Why would I do that when building around my other abilities has way less cost and can do way more work in content where your build matters? I say all this not as a hater but as someone who wishes bungie would stop giving us one to 2 melee options on majority of subclasses and either with balance passes with no foresight leaving that melee or ability as shadow of its former self or just straight up releasing a really bad or inconsistent af (it never does what I need it to in a dire situation but is ok at best in a vacuum) melee that's cool in concept but just so bad it's not worth building around outside of for the meme. I'm looking at you pocket singularity and SHIELD TOSS. I love the concept of withering blade because it has a sick ass design but lets be honest, it only gets used on stasis because we don't have any other options and on prismatic if you are just a big fan of the melee for whatever reason. Like stasis as a whole still needs alot of work to be worth using to the average player (I have been a stasis warlock main pretty much since osmeomancy dropped and tried every stasis build under the sun on all 3 classes because i like buildcrafting on all 3 classes even though I play titan the least and bungie WAY overhyped the stasis changes) with fragment choice always being so limited abilities have to make a good case for me to willingly build around them. I didn't come here to shit all over your idea, I just want all abilities to be worth something, not just me coping and using one for a build because I wish it was better. I will die on the hill that bungie needs to take an honest and detailed look at the fragments/aspects system on how weak some of them are vs limiting some combos to just 4 fragments while some fragments feel like they should straight up be baked into the class so builds have actual variation instead of some fragments having a 90% pickrate while some barely even get looked at. Same logic goes for genuinely making an effort to buff abilities like withering blade and shield toss.
TLDR: withering blade sucks and I REALLY wish it didn't. Threaded spike does it's job way better for way cheaper on all sides and if you're really trying to build around slow in this sandbox doing it on prismatic hunter honestly feels like throwing with how good prismatic is at everything else and how lackluster slow is as a pve keyword.

If you're on solar, ophidia spathe with knife trick or weighted knife is better in pve. Explosive knife doesn't do enough damage in higher end content to kill most red bars. Two knife tricks will ignite on hits, especially with ember of ashes. Weighted knife will ignite anything you scorch. The ignitions will also do increased damage because Ophidia increases knife damage on knife kills and the timer refreshes on gamblers dodge uses. Ophidia with gamblers dodge returns both knives at once, so ember of singing is a must. Then just run char, eruption, and torches.
Should be pinned. Spathe is massively slept on
to be fair you could also just prep a red bar low enough it kills, but yes spathe is hella slept on

Your Caliban’s Hand build from before was always my favorite build for PvP. Thank you for that one. Now I’m going to try this one out! 🙂
This has been my main for over a month now, but I use grapple because I have Calibans and syntho. Grapple melee with ignite everything too and then you also can use your 1-2 punch
I have a cloak with Caliban and Cyrtarachne and use a hybrid build between spamming grenades and the rope dart, it is so effective at clearing stuff because i sever everything with the rope dart and by the time it comes back i have a grenade ready so I throw that to get woven mail and the artifact mod procs to boost my melee regeneration
I posted earlier that I keep getting the same rolls. I get off of work and my first drop was caliban/synthos. Finally the rng gods blessed me
One of the best or worst things you can do is complain how shit RNG is. The more you do it? The longer you'll seemingly wait but you'll get that 5/5 weapon or in this case the Exotic you're hunting for.
Anyone else reading this! I will warn you, be careful how hard you go off when complaining! 1 of 2 things is gunna happen... 1. You'll get it immediately & look like a total arse OR 2. You're gunna have to accept you're never getting what you want & MONTHS after coming to terms with that, usually after you've given in & MW'd your second best, it'll drop.

I just started trying out caliban on solar (I'm a weighted knife lover, so I hadn't previously) and it's SO fun!
Have you tried the updated Triton Vice yet? Some of the most fun I'm ever had in destiny. I run Ecliptic Distance and Winter Bite and then Stylish Executioner, but beyond that the build is really flexible and a ton of fun. So many explosions.
Good watch, but you don't get amplified from picking up an orb. You are getting woven mail tho. So you have no way to get amplified on your first build
Add Monte Carlo to the build

I’m using a cloak with Caliban/Cyterachne. Activating my grenade/ gunpowder gamble gives me woven mail for 10 seconds, this frees up my super from silktstrike so I can use silence and squall, this means I get frost armour from orbs using facet of purpose, so even more damage resist
Been running this build with swapping between grapple melee and swarm grenade for a hot minute lol really cool that you made this video
I haven’t taken my Caliban + Liar’s class item off since I got it, so much fun and incredibly powerful. I absolutely breezed through this weeks GM with it
I personally run calibans with Cytarachnes and GG. Crazy ad clear and infinite wolven mail its great

since final shape I've mostly been playing (pretty much exclusively after trying out prismatic for the first week of it) with the reworked coldsnap grenade with touch of Winter on hunter, it feels soooo good to just freeze an entire room with a single grenade from afar
I think you said this before, but fusion grenade with Fastball mod has the exact same trajectory as the knife so you can knife to nade and ignite the enemy quite quickly
So excited to see the caliban/verity combo get the attention it deserves
I'm just happy that I have that combo to try. While I do have a lot of class items, the ones I'm missing seem to be the good ones.
i know why this is so much fun, this is basically last seasons (pre-final shape) artifact, but in exotic armor + subclass form, last season i only ran solar with an incandescent bow or polaris lance and watched everything ignite while radiant, and chain that forever, it was probably my favorite season of D2, this is that, but more with abilities
Caliban's are the most fun pvp build for Hunter. Excited to revisit them. I needed something to get me off of Knucklehead Radar. I want that Syntho Calibans class item too, looks incredibly fun!
@CoolGuyGames : Caliban's/Verity's brow build. Aspects: Gunpowder gamble, Threaded Specter or Ascension.Fragments: Facet of dawn for Radiant, Facet of blessing for health regen, Facet of Purpose for super based buffs, Facet of Mending for cure, Facet of ruin for larger ignitions.
Artifact: Radiant orbs, shieldcrus, solar fulmination. Super: stasis, Melee: Threaded spike, Grenade: Grapple, Weapons Tessalation + Strand primary and heavy of your choice. Bonus if it has demolitionist.
Why Tessalation?.... HPs increased by 15%, fusion rifle damage increased by 20% which includes splash damage. Add radiant and surge x3 and it should hit for 166 x 1.2 x 1.1 x 1.055 = 231 hps. Kills will provide 20% grenade energy. Gunpowder gamble can also be used as a grenade source for 1 shots. Not a half bad fusion rifle at base.
Verity's brow: Use 3 strand weapons will build up death throws which can increase damage of grapple melee and Gunpowder gamble. Run stasis super for x2 frost armor per charge. The DR is a bonus, you want frost armor because it lasts the longest. Picking up an orb will give you Radiant and frost armor which will proc melee and grenade 10% damage bonus. It takes x3 stacks of death throes for 1 shot grapple melee.
Ascension vs Threaded specter. If you run Ascension then use galvanic armor for more DR. It can be used as a movement tool with grapple. The jolt can help build Gunpowder gamble stacks.
Threaded spike and grapple melee to proc Caliban's ignitions. Enhanced by solar fulmination, shieldcrush, and Facet of ruin.
When we get more prismatic stuff, I hope they add a fragment where we apply more scorch and slow stacks
It would be nice if a single melee could drop multiple orbs when it kills multiple targets. The Caliban/Verity combo was my first drop and I haven’t found a combo I like more since. Great content as always!

I made a build yesterday to just kind of screw around and before I realized I had made like ten shadow clones that just decimated the field in the new battlegrounds. I took it into onslaught to kind of test and it shredded as well. I’m curious what you think of them and if you make a build that I could incorporate into mine.
I’ve been messing around with Caliban and noticed that if you tag a target with Ticuu’s Divination and then huck a Caliban knife into ‘em they explode twice. Only one technically counts as an ignition, but it’s pretty funny. Wonder if there’s some potential to push that interaction further.

I get what you’re saying but dude I was using a caliban star eater class item and running the stasis tornado super it absolutely shreds everything. I have been using this even before the artifact came into play. All that matters is your melee has to get that kill but since it tracks the red ants around everything it still goes off and with that fragment for more radius on shatter and ignitions it cooks.
It was viable before the artifact. I haven't taken it off since final shape dropped.

Cali/liars. Syntho only adds a 30% dmg increase to combination blow while its active versus liars full buff.
Honestly Roast 'Em should have increased ignition range imo.
Every time i see a hunter build is cailbans/liars with syntho or a nighthawk build. Every. Time.
I've done 5 resets at ghost chasing a Caliban Liars/Syntho roll and no luck so far.
if you're on pc just do the macro for afk chest farm save yourself the hassle

I love the prismatic PvE build, hate the solar version. If you can keep getting knife kills you're good, but if you every miss your knife or fail to get a kill, it's sad time. The worst part is how ignitions from your knife don't count as knife kills. If they did, the build would be incredible. But as is, I just spend too much time with no abilities up being useless. The prismatic version on the other hand is fantastic. You get so much darkness transcendence energy from bouncing threaded spikes around, then you go transcendent and you can just spam it, plus your grenade. Everything ignites and it's stupid easy because of the incredible range and tracking on the spike, with great survivability from stylish exectioner.

Newbie here! Will Calibans Hand work with Prismatic in a similar fashion if one has yet to secure the exotic class item version?
normal version only works on solar melee while the class item version works on ALL melee types

Don't overlook how Stylish Execution Grapple Melee+Synthos on Prismatic is one of the most busted things in the game especially with a 1-2 Punch shotgun. Caliban/Synthos is super nice
