Born and raised in Columbia with plenty fam in the chuck so all the out of state ppl please believe just a few short years ago a lot of yall would have been a victim on these pretty ass streets

Oh stop, I live in Charleston SC. This vid was captured on the east end of the Charleston peninsula and to call this neighborhood "dangerous" is just silly. For those in other places; I would have no problem walking through this neighborhood, at night. Most interactions on the street would probably involve a: "How ya doin?"

It's still not as bad as bad areas in other cities. Most of the ppl are friendly. My friend lived in a house at the corner of Nassau & Line St. Supposed to be one of the worst areas. I'd go down & walk her dog when she couldn't be there bc of her late-night job. I'd walk around at 1 am & had no problems. Admittedly it was a big dog (a Newfie) but still. They'd usually say hi or nod & smile, if I passed them, maybe make a joke about the "bear" on the leash & that was it. Most of the crime is personal in nature. They rarely go after random ppl.

"Charleston most Dangerous Streets"....Really? When I saw this title and watched the video, it amazed me! I have lived in Charleston SC for 40 years and I have watched it change right before my eyes. The "Dangerous streets", as you called them is definitely not a valid description of these areas. The area that you were driving through is called the East side and you would have not been able to film this 10 years ago. I am in my 50's and when I was a child, you didn't go to the "East Side", of Charleston, unless you knew someone in that area. This depiction of this areas now, is just a plan misrepresentation & prove that you are misinformed about the years of progress in the City of Charleston. As your viewers can see from the video, the newly developed houses have been taking place in the downtown neighborhood's, for several years now. Houses that have been abandoned, have tax liens, foreclosures or simply sold of out ignorance of there true value, to big players, have made these very streets that your showing, a lot safer. This is called "Gentrification", and it has effected small black businesses, as well as, the lower-class black residential areas. Now, in these so called "Dangerous Streets", a white person can not only walk down the street, day or night, but can live in this area as well. No disrespect to you or your viewers but anywhere "Gentrification" takes place, you better know, that they will make it safer for them to live, then for the people they moved out! Is it good for the city? Of course. Does it get rid of the riff raffs & crime? Sure. Was the financial transactions for these houses done fairly, and given full disclosure of future property value to black families? My intuition, experience and knowledge of history of the way this country conducts its business, leaves me doubtful. These very houses, now, are worth close to a half a million dollars in value, in downtown Charleston. Please don't give your viewers misinformation because I know from living here, that these very streets are no worst then other cities and certainly better now then in the past.

Where's the "high crime" in Charleston? I live here, I'd like to know. Also, Charleston is a city not a state.

I can tell by your skin color you are not from that neighborhood. I grew up in Charleston, on Rutledge Ave. I did not go to that neighborhood as a kid or adult. Charleston has a high crime rate per capita and just a few years ago it was #12 for crime rate in the entire country. You are living in an area that has seen tremendous gentrification since 2002. Please don't tell people who grew up here what it was like. I walked into a gun fight going to class at Burke High School in 96. Kids were terrorized in the local middle schools in the 90's here. I finally had enough and transferred to a private school because I was scared to go the school. The are just started getting a little safe in the pass 4 years.

Be nice to know some of the Street Names.
Are these the streets near the Citadel or over next to MUSC hospital or maybe close to Harris Teeter.
    We go their often.
Some of these streets look rough but the people are actually really nice.
So not fair for you to ride around the streets and make people think they are all bad.
Don't care for your videos. Need discretions.

I was born & raised on the westside of downtown, Charleston before gentrification, the. city looks nothing like it did 30 years ago. When I was coming up you couldn’t even walk outside of your immediate neighborhood safely without a weapon & tourist never ventured past the market(tourist) areas after dark & never on foot. Even though some of these neighborhoods have changed, the people who are actually from Charleston (college students, seasonal beach bums, or summer bar hoppers not included) know better than riding or walking around these nice looking neighborhoods at dark … unfortunately a lot of tourists & college students find out the hard way…

@@louisp.3332 you said youve been in Charleston 20 years, in 2006 the corner of Nassau and line alone had the most murders out of any neighborhood in the Charleston metro region and that's just a corner not to mention the whole neighborhood. Anybody that knows Charleston knows your statement is false. You said there's nothing dangerous about that area which even if it was true now, it has not been true the past 20 years which makes your statement false and clearly someone who does not know about the neighborhood.

What you showed is apart of our history, absolutely nothing we're ashamed of or claim as "dangerous". EVERYWHERE IS DANGEROUS.. Educate yourself with research and actually talking to people from the places you visit instead of assuming by perception. You have no true knowledge.
