One of our greatest actors in Telugu field and a multi-talented genius but a miserable failure in politics,having been elected to Lok Sabha from Ongole in 1967 with a thumping majority,(Ongole is a Communist strog-hold until then),he never bothered to visit that constituency after elections.May be he is the first cine actor to be elected as MP in India.
Not in 1964 but in 1967,got elected with a bumper majority of around 1 lakh votes,made several promises,never shown his face after elections in that area. After that he made one or two attempts in Assembly elections from Ponnuru but failed miserably.
