    Just started working out on my RIF6 rower this week. I love the workout is gives, I'm 6'4" so I have issues with some machines. Thanks for your proper form videos and your review of this unit. I'm about to watch your FULL WEEK Rowing Guide for Fat Loss. I’m not fat, but I can afford to lose a few, get toned and help my heart.

    I feel like a fake tall person - only 6' 2" these days - 6' 3" in my youth, but I am getting shorter since I wrecked my back doing dumb stuff as a kid. You seem like a funny comedian type - I was ready to buy this machine, but the "2024" in the title seems to have been added recently because this video is about 2 years old and RIF6 doesn't have this for sale on Amazon anymore - it's only on RIF6's website for $669.

    I was on the wait list for a C2, but was struggling with the $1500 price tag (in Canada), so I picked up an Xterra ERG600W Rower at Costco, very similar to this one. It has all the same pros and cons, but I will say the Xterra seems very well constructed, powder coat finish was flawless. The seat is comfortable and the rail is a combo of aluminum over steel. Very sturdy. The rowing position seems to be higher off the floor than this RIF6 rower. The monitor is garbage (and looks to be identical to the one reviewed) but I use a combo of my Garmin watch and an app called BitGym that I cast to my television, for tracking. It doesn't break down for storage like the C2, but does tilt up and is less than 8' long so should easily stand upright in most rooms. It is very quiet, other than the whoosh of the water. There is very little mechanical sound generated. Austin, thanks for realizing that not everyone needs, wants or can afford a C2.

    I found a trick to make the monitor way more accurate on this rower, I did an experiment and used the c2 at the gym and noticed my split times were nearly cut in half compared to this machine, Then I noticed that the distance and time is measured by a magnet passing under a sensor on the pulley on top of the tank. I added another magnet and what do you know my split times we’re almost exactly the same as on the concept2.

    • @asdflma0
      @asdflma0 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey, I'm having the same problem with my rif6. just curious, what kind of magnet did you add and did you attach it on top of the existing magnet, or did you put it on the opposite side? I tried taping some buckyball magnets on the opposite side but my 500m times didn't change. not sure if I put them on the wrong side or if the magnets are simply too weak to register. any tips would be greatly appreciated!

      @Ellie-rx3jt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@asdflma0
      Having experience with bikes (but not rowers) I'd say you need a flat round magnet placed on the opposite side. The magnet pole might also only work one way, but I'm not sure on that.

    Thank goodness I found this video. Just started rowing and was severely down that I was in the 5 minute range for my 500m split. And then compared to average times for my age and saw numbers that I thought Superman himself couldn't reach. Maybe this is the hustler's rower. Say you have 5:00 split times to your buddies and then race and smoke them when you use the same machine 😂

    I wanted an actual water rower but I cannot afford it right now but I really want to start rowing. I went down the rowing rabbit hole for like 4 hrs the other day and decided I HAVE TO HAVE ONE. I happened upon this video of yours and decided to give it a shot and ordered this budget rower. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow and I'll let you know what I think about it! Haha, for under $400 I might buy it. I'm using a water rower at Orange Theory right now. I need to practice technique and learn wth I'm doing on these things. 😆
    I just saw someone comment that the 40% off coupon is no longer working! 😭

      Nice! Those rowers at OTF are $1200!!!

    • @Paraselene_Tao
      @Paraselene_Tao 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trainingtall Wow. They work really well as far I can tell. Something I wonder about is how standardized the machines are from one to the next. How close to the same water resistance and computer measurements are they?
      I was considering this too, if OTF has about 1200 locations, each has +10 rowing machines, and each of one is $1200, then that's a big contract! Over 14 million dollars. 🤑

    How does this stand against Concept 2? I know Concept 2 is much more expensive, I am wondering if it is really that much better.

    • @richardmather1906
      @richardmather1906 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since no one responded, I will take a shot at this. Yes. The C2 is "that much better." Rowing position on the C2 is generally considered to be the best. The monitor is generally considered to be the best, at least in terms of functionality (no bells and whistles ). Extremely durable and parts are a phone call away (made in Vermont). Resistance is easily adjustable (move a lever to let more or less air into the fan) and very "scalable" just by how hard you pull (though every water rower does do this also, to some extend). Breaks into two pieces in seconds for storage. Heavy duty weight capacity and yet is, itself, among the lightest rowers. The C2 is not only the best buy in rowers. It is among the best values in all of fitness.

    • @jupitereye4322
      @jupitereye4322 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardmather1906 Thanks for responding! I decided a few months ago to go with C2. I found a good deal for a used one and I haven't regretted it. At first, I thought it might be money wasted because the water one seemed more "traditional" and I thought therefore it was probably well-tested. Then I saw quite a few videos and articles from professional rowers using C2, and that was it. I just didn't hesitate anymore. It seems C2 is just a standard nowadays.
